Give players a break! Stop gifting these lameo everyday cars out to just everyone. At least limit your gifting of regular cars out the new players only.
And take a little effort to make them some good cars too. At least gift them out maxed out in the original class. If it’s a C class car max it in C class. It doesn’t cost that much.
I even did that when I was just a new player.
Now that I’m in the HoF I’m getting about 50/50 junk cars in gift drops.

Sadly - it never will be.
It was a lame idea from the outset.
Most (Not All) just dump cars that way.
It needs a whole reboot - First thing would be to see the car drop before you HAVE to take it.
Next would be adding people to gift to rather than the current random system.
They said they did that at the Christmas season but I could still never get that bit to work.
Why not add gifting of FP or CR or XP an option instead of a crappy car ?
I gifted 3 or 4 Huracan Perfomates today. I had been gifting McLaren 720 spiders until they were in the playlist. I’ve been getting a lot of junk with a couple of good cars infrequently. At this point I collect them out of curiosity.
I and others who are far from “New Players” have been getting “gifts” with text for new players. We’ve been here since launch and are HoF etc. and I still get new player “gifts” regularly. Almost daily… unlike my hotel wheelspin which isn’t much better at value anyway so getting it rarely is no big loss.
I suspect cars that aren’t picked up (say by a “New Player”) end up going on the merry go round of attempted delivery to whoever goes after them. I wonder, do new players ever see a “gift” for a Horizon Superstar etc ?
I’ve had delivery notification/thank you for gifts that were “sent” days or weeks past, so something is definitely not working.

I think it was an idea with good intentions… botched by not enough thought and poor programming.
On the “good intentions” part, some of those “crap” cars may be well intentioned but naive, maybe even from actual new players. So I cut a lot of slack, drop a thank you, and any garbage I find gets stripped and trashed.
I’ve gifted many top tuned/liveried cars.
I get a kudo maybe 1/15 at best. So, I delete rather than gift. Don’t respond to gift notices if you don’t like them. At least you can tell what you get before thanks.
Some very nice person dropped me the Mercedes SSK early game but other than that they’ve all been bobbins, I don’t even go and have a look anymore.
I’ll only gift cars now that I don’t mind sending with my tag name, although I must admit when it’s been a daily I’ve just given some cheap throwaway tat and hidden behind the Horizon superstar cover.
I gift whatever duplicates get forced into my garage. The more expensive ones usually get sent to Anyone or New Players. The cheaper they are the more likely I’ll send them to Community Contributors.
No one is forced to collect gifts just ignore the message and don’t bother collecting them that way you avoid collecting the so called “lame” cars. simples!
I think the OPs point is they are happy to be gifted cars but are sick and tired of receiving tons of trash cars which I can understand.
I think the gifting system can be improved slightly by simply adding the rariety of the gift to the message, e.g. some player gifted you a legendary car or some player gifted you a pile of … That way it’s still a surprise but players can opt to not even bother if they see they are gifted a common car without knowing exactly what common car it is.
Maybe a belter idea would to just give a full description of what the car is and what colour it is too and also how many miles on the clock, better still allow players to write a wish list of what cars they want and if the car is not on that wish list they don’t see the message or give players the chance to refuse gifts and then type in a reply telling the gifter exactly what they think of the lame car they got gifted.
But to be honest if I have got anything decent I don’t want I’m going to sell it in the auction house might no get what its worth but at least I get something rather than just a worthless lame kudos point.
Yesterday I sold off a couple of cars through the AH as a test. I normally would have gifted those out to New Players. Six of seven cars went for buy-out price. Those were not really high class cars ranging from 50k to 1.7M, all with lowest start bid possible and highest buy-out possible. Even the highest buy-out started at 50k.
So there still must be set of players that do want these cars. I’ve been around long enough not to be a new player and only occasionally get gifts. I’ll have a better look at these to see if they are meant for newbies.
I like the idea of gifting cars to New Players, but if it’s broken like suggested, it loses sense quickly.
I can’t see the point of gifting any vehicle I wouldn’t want myself, so when one is sent to me I just don’t send a thank you and delete it afterwards. Cars that I gift are ones that I hope give the recipient a nice thrill to receive and I even buy some of the more expensive ones as I’ve accumulated over 400m credits and I have nothing else on which to spend the loot. I almost always send these cars to new players, the others being sent to returning players. I also try to send cars with my own livery and tune in the hope that I’ll receive a “like” or two sometime later.
Like many of you guys i’ve been playing since pre-launch (5th November) but STILL get the “new player” messages from gifted cars… so was wondering what period of time has to pass before you’re no longer categorised as such.
I do gift cars almost daily and always to “new players” but rarely nothing worth less than a mill’ and upgrade ( not tuned as thats a personal choice ) so if the recipient doesn’t want or need it, they can try to sell it.
Maybe that’s an idea… have a minium car value allowed before gifting. ( say half a mil upwards ) with over 15 million players now, that’s got to be better that 15 million fiestas being gifted.
No one except for the developers can easily tell whether the gifting system works as intended. For all we know these choices such as new players only could be meaningless and the car is gifted to any player.
I always return any that are sent to me, regardless of what they are. I gift any car that is forced on me that I already have. Here’s my last few, how am I doing?
