Still no VR?!

Still yes buy tho.

But… :frowning:

Quick question is there any VR head set that would do the game justice by running it in the detail the game designers have workd so hard to show off. So A full 4K head set and is there a Pc one could use to push 4K to a VR head set with full head tracking and all them other things VR needs to work. That will not bankrupt most gamers.

No, the display tech isn’t there yet. It will be within the next few years. However, Microsoft already has their own Windows Mixed Reality series of headsets and it seems like it would be feasible for them to add that functionality to the Xbox. I was hoping they would announce that this year, as I already have a Samsung HMD Odyssey headset. But… not yet.

And that is why no VR on the Xbox not enough grunt to do VR justice or the Mixed reality However there is some chatter about the Next Xbox Mark 4 having VR in 2 to 4 years time When Microsoft release the New Xbox Mark 4

Microsoft won’t use their WMR. They will likely use Oculus. WMR is known to be low quality and Microsoft has an agreement with Oculus, which is why Xbox controllers came with the Rift before the touch controllers.

Sorry to drag up the past like an annoyed girl/boyfriend, but even 5 months ago, Pimax had an 8K HMD on the market. I’ve tried it (as I’m a VR developer by trade) and its pretty good.

Little bit late here as well, but…

I assume you own other HMDs as well?
How would you compare perceived pixel density (or pixel per degree) compared to say Rift/Vive? I know Pimax is 8k, but stretched out over that huge FoV they have, I’ve heard it might not be that much of an improvement. I honestly didn’t look too much into it, as I’d rather not torture myself because I made myself a promise to wait on true Gen2 of HMDs after owning Rift CV1.

This doesn’t have near the detail that PC2 does, and it has VR.

This topic frustrates me so. I play a lot of Project Cars 2 in VR, and it ruins most other racing games for me. The tech is obviously there, and Microsoft even has their own HMD’s, and they work really well. Especially well for racing/cockpit games, and there is no need for sensors because of the inside/out tracking.

Despite how much I enjoy PC2, Forza has been my racing game of choice for a long time! Used to be Gran Turismo, but I switched to Forza, because I liked the direction they went with the series vs GT. The fact that Gran Turismo has VR support, and FMS/FH don’t makes it burn all the more, because those are the two games I REALLY want in VR. I have a very hard time playing them because of other racing games I have played in VR.

Common Forza teams! There is no other game I want more in VR then Forza Horizon!

Honestly I don’t see them implementing it until the next generation of console arises.

Agreed! But is VR really needed in a game like Forza where 2 dimensional graphic presentations works quite well. If it shold be introduced to any Forza title it shold be in FM7. But still, I don’t see this being an Xbox/Forza focus anytime soon.

Honestly, would there be that much backlash if they gave PC’s VR support, and not Xbox?

I’d be upset. Especially considering I bought a One X. I might as well have bought a pre-built PC since I have a wheel.

Yes, true, but you own it on PC. You don’t have to buy it again because of Play Anywhere (Which is awesome, and thank you very much X-Box Team!).

Also, you’re wheel will more then likely work on the PC.

Honestly, pretty much all racing games with the exception of Forza do exactly that (VR on PC, no VR on consoles), and the world hasn’t ended so far because of this. Open world with large view distances and large amounts of textures makes things a bit more complicated and hardware-hungry in VR and it wouldn’t look as pretty as it looks on a screen, but I’d gladly accept a graphics downgrade to be able to drive in Horizon in VR. The world (well, me at least) really needs a relaxed, open world cruising/exploration driving game that supports VR.

It’s stated since months that there will be no VR @ XBox.

And again @ E3 2018 same answer:

'Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz at E3 this week, Microsoft’s chief marketing officer for gaming Mike Nichols explained a bit of the thinking behind the moves:

One thing Microsoft isn’t working on right now–at least as it pertains to Xbox–is virtual reality/mixed reality.

“We don’t have any plans specific to Xbox consoles in virtual reality or mixed reality,” Nichols said. “Our perspective on it has been and continues to be that the PC is probably the best platform for more immersive VR and MR.”'.

It 's the same answer we already know since FH3 and FM7.

No VR @ XBox !!!

their no current machine in the world with the software to run 4k vr. that not uber custom chip etc

This is pure speculation, but from what I’ve been reading elsewhere about next version of Windows the following could be likely…

RS5 is apparently going to have a ‘VR-Backpack’ mode which doesn’t require a screen in addition to the VR headset, sound useful on Xbox?
Also Windows & Xbox are on a converging codebase so a hint as to next (or one after) version of Xbox OS?

Real world games with full freedom of motion require a huge amount of processing for decent sightlines in VR, constrained games like corridor mazes & track racing do not.
So, Horizon is unlikely to get VR except as maybe a ‘tech demo’ for high end PCs.
But, FM8 is quite likely to feature VR. Probably on Xbox 1X & PC only, like X1X & PC get higher res than X1 does.

But in the end it comes down to numbers; most people probably play with a pad and tv, VR is nice but is probably a tiny amount of their customer base.
Would I like to see Forza in full immersive VR? YES!!!

This is pure speculation and is probably wrong but is based on what I observed elsewhere and reading between lines on roadmaps…

Hololens forzavista would be so cool

[Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] You can’t imagine how many times I’ve driven the Hot Wheels tracks and thought to myself “Man…if only I could experience this in Virtual Reality”. Hot Wheels would have been PHENOMENAL in VR!!! Please don’t make the same mistake twice Playground! Please re-consider putting Oculus Rift and HTC Vive support into FH4 even it means at a later time. This is something all VR users want and I personally would buy TEN MORE COPIES of the Ultimate Edition of the game if it comes true!!!
