Spa challenge experiences

Anybody want to share their experiences with the Spa challenge?

I ran the event almost the way I wanted to. I avoided any early collisions. There was one early bump, 2nd or 3rd lap. I slowed up a little too much for a turn and got rear-ended. I didn’t receive any damage. I’m unsure about the other driver but the impact speed was rather slow. I was in accident about 50 minutes into the event. Someone faster was following me and decided to pull over and let him pass. The problem was I pulled over just as he started to pass. My fault, I should have told him what I was going to do. Fortunately I wasn’t too far from the pits. I did about 180 miles. It was a good event.

I completed it last night…

12 starters, 3 finishers…

I was last on the grid, I waited until everyone cleared the first hairpin, went around it and eau rouge safely and then some joker nailed me on the hairpin chicane after the long straight.

My car was totaled, I could not find the pit.

20 minutes in, I only completed 6 miles; however, 9 cars including the player who crashed me, left.

I stuck it out… completed the event in second place with 174 miles, the leader - who I passed four times only had 178 miles.

The guy in third spent the entire race trying to crash me (successful twice) and the leader (successful once) the whole race and finished with 99 miles

I recorded, reported and blocked the two obvious crashers

I think without damage 200 miles would have been easy

I really believe damage should just be tire wear and fuel - why can’t Turn10 patch this setting?

Wreckers make these challenges more challenging than they should be - losing 18 minutes to crashers is silly

My Spa experience was bumpy, lol. Suffice to say I needed to pit 4 times in the first 30 mins due to griefers. I managed to claw my way back to 2nd and then proceeded to lap cars 2-7 four times (which was nerve wracking). All in all an enjoyable event which would have been better without the numpties.

Have done the challenge 3 times and have had 3 different experiences. First race I was in a lobby with number 1 and 4 in the rival times for spa, needless to say I got it handed to me. Second race I was with some good racers and it was a very tight race, we all finished within one mile of each other. Third race was a was a run away, got through the first turn without getting hit or hitting some one the rest of the people where not so lucky. I finished that race with 212 miles and only pitted once and no accidents. These races are a lot of fun and I plan to race some more tonight. Managed to drop my fastest lap to 1:46.707 in the process.

started 3x.got wrecked 3x… no chance to get into the pit… frustrated!

The best multiplayer race iv’e had. I was lucky to start from the front and got through the first corner with out being tagged from behind and never looked back. I did 354Km. When i would come up behind some one i would slow a little to there pace and they would either let me pass or I would wait till I had a easy pass. Only had to pit around 1hr in to change tires as they were toast. BEST RACE EVER. Thanks to all those guys who I raced with.

Just ran it. 8 started, 4 finished
had couple spins and 2 pits for damage and did 205 miles… Was a couple griefers at the start but mostly clean

First thing i asked when i got into a lobby that was just about to start was ’ is damage on?’ and my responsese was ‘uh oh’ (took about 20 attempts to find one with less than 45mins to start).

And ‘uh oh’ it was!! I had a great start, me and this other guy pulled away and we had a good race for about 10 laps, i started to pull away from him, all going good, he then dropped back a bit, and then I had quite a lead … all going swell until I came to lap someone … that person I dont blame him, they just got a bit hectic and all other the place when I went to lap him and i hit the back of him, i thought fair enough, cant expect everyone to know what to do when being lapped, so i limped to the pits and still came out in first place.

Again built up my lead, untill i then came across another lapped car, this idiot purposely smashed into me when on the main straight after eau rouge, i limped and skidded and spun my way round the whole track to pit, i was now in 3rd place after pit. Again time to pull it back, go tback to 2nd place, first place was in sight, and then this time my fault, i clipped tyre wall on the turn just after the straight after eau rouge … limped to pits … now in 3rd place.

Picked up pace again, met previous idiot who rammed me off the road again … back to pits. (4th pit!!!)

Now in 4th … I also then saw same idiot ram the leader, who i then assumed had to pit also. Still in 4th with lots of ground to make up, i picked off 3rd, got 2nd in sights and with 5 mins remaining overtook him … who was also in an idiot, on the straight after eau rouge I was going faster than him so would of been an easy pass by him, but no, he swerved to hit me, so i broke and he missed, i then went to pass on he otherside, he swerved again, annnnd hit me … fortunately somehow no damage this time so I sped away from him and came 2nd.

This should of been an easy 1st place race for me, but ruined by one idiot troll! His name was ColeTrainWoooooo (not sure how many O’s) and the idiot at the end was JWhit or something. reported and blocked them.

PLEASE TURN 10 next endurace, take damage off!!! recovering from a hit is fine, but when damage is on it takes a long time to limp back to the pits, especially on long tracks like SPA when they take you out in Sector 1 I did 201 miles but could of done way more with the time wasted.

Had a clean race among’st 9 other’s. no crashes till around the 180 mile point. luckily we were right in front of the pit’s. Love these Simulated Damage Endurance Event’s!

One problem i did notice though was… I have “2” Going on “3” 2013 Lotus E21’s, One Stock paint, Other with a Livery, I Chose the one with the Livery but when in the race it was just the stock livery even though i selected the 2nd one. is there a way to fix that from happening? it’s the second time online i had 2 of the car’s, But auto selected the one with the stock paint job, when i selected the tuned one with the livery but never goes through. :frowning:

Having watched several streams, each and every one with a wrecker doing his stuff, I decided to go for a run instead.

Just for the future, the second kink in the chicane is the entrance to the pits.

I’ve been looking forward to the Spa Challenge for a while because it’s my favourite track in the game. Tried a run at the challenge late last night but there were simply too many “Crashing Crashers” to make it wholly satisfying. Thought I’d take another shot early this morning when only the larks and the late-night Aussies are about and it was far and away a much better experience.

It wasn’t free of drama mind. The guy who finished second ultimately was actually probably the fastest guy by some margin but he seemed to spend the first part of the race arguing with another racer about who was fastest and/or cleanest and he suffered the Aussie curse of being stuck on a knackered connection so his car janked around the track … when he finally caught up to me to un-lap himself he zigged and zagged (not from driver input, from that horrible lag that occurs that teleports people up/down/left/right all over the show making passing a nightmare) and what I’m guessing he didn’t notice was me pull over to the side at the bus-stop to let him pass. Bang, Smash he goes into barriers and what-not and he’s wrecked. I’m safely out of the way on my screen, happily take the turn and carry on whilst he’s expleting and calling for everyone to take me out for smashing him off the track. I don’t think he clocked that if I could continue racing, I hadn’t been in contact!

Anyway, he still had 20 minutes to repair and cruise round to take first from me which I think he probably could have done if he’d put his mind to it - he was sufficiently fast enough. But I kept my head down, held my breath with every back-marker and kept the victory for myself.

All in all, I only ended up taking one pit-stop and that was for self-inflicted damage from a clumsy error I made all by myself when alone on the track. The rest of the grid were by and large excellent racers and hats off to them for running a pretty clean race. There were a lot of cars recovering to the pits throughout but they all seemed to keep out of the way at those times and let you pass (or pass you) cleanly when the overtakes needed to be done.

Roll on the next endurance then. The gap between the last one and this one was too long!

First one I got into dashboarded me after 30 mins, luckily I got into another on almost straight away.

8 started, 7 finished (the one that didn’t appeared to have got stuck 10ft above the barriers on the inside of the Bus Stop - weird glitch and he couldn’t free himself so he quit).

One obvious crasher who I think slowly started to realise damage on = not so fun crashing, so he eased off but still tried to nail me a couple of times on the straights (once successfully). He ended up barely doing the miles required (144) which was frustrating, I wished he didn’t manage it.

So after the initial carnage things settled in, 3 other guys were reasonable speed, but I still managed to lap them a number of times, and they were very clean - moving over way before I got to them on straights, and making corner passes easy.

So even after 2 full wrecks, and pit stop for tires, and a 4-5min stop because someone knocked on my door (I parked up behind the barriers at Eau Rouge as it seemed the most sensible spot) which put me back down to 4th so meant I had to push to get back to 1st which was super fun, I finished on exactly 200 miles. I reckon without the drama I could have done 3 more laps, so 212 miles.

Might give it another punt today.

Hello,

I just ran the challenge. I must say it was exciting. About as exciting as the Silverstone GP. Had a few bad racers, got spun out and flipped on purpose in the first 15 mins. Other than that I couldn’t catch up and finished 5th. Any reason I did not receive the achievment? I had 198mi at the end of race?

I just completed the challenge and did not receive the achievement. I had 198mi on the screen and the time ran out. Any suggestions or ideas?

Started with 9 & finished with 5. I finished 3rd. I drove 199 miles. My friend Ghosty445 was right behind me in 4th. 100% clean lobby. I totally enjoyed the race. Might do one more later tonight, before it gets closed tomorrow.

It was nice being in a clean lobby, good race.

Had a great time. 6 players in lobby. I came 2nd (321KM or 200 miles). Good race, clean. The guy came 1st was half of lap in front. Everybody finished and made good miles

Had 2 pit stops - Had one accident at first laps, and changed tires 20min till the end of race.

This was my first Long-distance edurance race

Anyone else’s achievement not popping?, was some super nice racing and was wheel to wheel between 1st 2nd and 3rd for a lot of the race shame about the people wrecking people though.

Had a blast in my first endurance race! Started off with 7 racers and finished with 5. Pretty decent lobby only one player was trying to wreck people, but his car was always damaged so pretty easy to get around. I finished in 1st with 198 miles driven. My achievement has not come up yet either. Wondering should I start a race and quit to try and get it to come up?
