Sounds- No difference between cockpit and bonnet sound on multiple cars

Only noticed this today on multiple cars, including Golf R '21.

Series X Performance. Tried uncompressed, Dolby Atmos all settings, Windows Sonic with headphones; all the same problem.

Merc SL 65 '09, same problem. Is this happening on all cars now?

Now Mitsubishi GTO '97.

And McLaren 765LT Coupe.

Okay, every car I try, (the sound is really thin now in some cars too, with way too high whine) the cockpit and bonnet sound exactly the same, as if the sound is pasted and not camera correct.

Tried a couple more cars. Definitely something wrong with the sound mix on cars now. Chase cams are fine, but not bonnet and cockpit.

Okay, for instance, on 458 Italia it’s sounding like I’m just hearing the chase exhaust noise from a different position in cockpit and bonnet, rather than hearing the engine?

Please hotfix this, it’s pretty rough…

Update: okay, playing round with a few cars. See what you’ve done with the cockpits, getting them realistically muffled, that’s fine. It just sounds a bit thin in bonnet cam, like I can’t hear the engine on the bonnet, when I thought it would roar from that view!

Ferrari 488 chase close, exhaust sounds great to me. Muffled cockpit fine if it’s realistic, but bonnet cam just not enough engine noise? Even the wind noise overpowers it! Honestly, there are a good few of us on here who obsessively want this game to fulfill its potential, even if we sound critical at times.

Yeah something has gone very wrong in this latest update, some cars engine sounds in the interior view are almost non existent even when you turn down all the other sound options.

Also have noticed that it’s the same through every view.

Standard Logitech Z623 2.1

The game is almost unplayable in this state as you need to be able to hear the engine.

Can we expect a hotfix?

Detecting the same thing. This may actually be a problem, but I’m not 100% sure. The cockpits should remain muffled and as close to 1:1 as possible tho. They could actually use more work in this arena as they’re still a tad too noisy. Not enough dynamic range. Getting better, but not quite there.

Side note: This SL 65 '09 sound pretty good in cockpit. Really close to the actual car.

Let’s keep them this way and do more work so they sound more immersive and closer to the actual cars.

This is a rear engine car so the bonnet/hood cam shouldn’t be that loud in the first place. Realism is the goal here.

Again. Rear engine car so this may be accurate.

Seems that you’re expecting a hood/bonnet positioned engine sound at all times when in some cases the engine isn’t positioned up front. What I’m hearing from these rear and/or mid-rear mounted cars is about what I’d expect from them. The engine noise is coming in stronger in my rear speakers.

Sound people >> DO NOT go back to catering for smaller systems. One size fits all mix should be a mix that is 1:1 with the actual cars. No enhancement. IF you must cater to these other systems, give them a setting in the audio settings to do so. Nearly every soundbar and TV now has loudness management built-in so there is no reason to mix and master like you used to. Set every mix so that their dynamic range matches that of the car as it is in the real world. Loudness will need to scale because we just aren’t listening to these at their actual volume ( 2016 Porsche GT3 RS, for instance, is 108dB IN THE CABIN! ).

Okay, I’ve tested this again. Even on front engine cars the engine sound on bonnet cam can barely be heard. I changed the mix so I could hear it more loudly, then it sounded normal again. They definitely went overboard with lowering engine volume full stop. There’s like 85% exhaust noise from any view. I understand muffling in cockpit view, but engine noise is barely existent in any view.

You need to bring forth your audio setup. Sounds fairly decent on my DA rig.

I would also like to add that the sound of the Golf R is a copy and paste…

Bonnet/bumper cam and cockpit sounds area really lacking for most cars although the exhaust cam sounds are nice - some are nice, some are downright terrible.

The sound balancing is all over the place. I imagine Mike’s work is all cut out.
