So what do people think of the updated car audio for the Chev. C7, Pagani Huayra and the Acura?
At long last, the C7.R has been restored to it’s proper glory.
The muffled drone underneath an overbearing transmission whine has been replaced by the properly thunderous and visceral V8 tune it has IRL.
I’m very much looking forward to the future audio updates alluded to in the blog post.
Chev C7 is magnificent!
Pagani is fantastic, but I still can’t drive ot because you can’t see any left turns from the cockpit views.
Wow really? Can’t wait to drive it. I hope they redo and improve all the sounds this way. The ones that have been reported especially like the modern Ferrari V12s, modern 911s, some of the modern Ferrari V8s, and the other offenders: Murceilago, Reventon, Cinque roadster, etc
The R35 Skylines especially, would absolutely be over the moon once those are updated, hopefully.
We are finally on track, gentlemen! Somewhere in the gaming world I can hear GT players whimpering and sobbing… Kidding…! Come on, I couldn’t resist
The Acura Integra Type R is a lot better. Before I am certain that was how the engine itself sounds, but now it sounds like the car has an exhaust system.
I am one of those crazys who wish I could directly control how much gear whine I hear. While the exhaust now sounds correct, I would like to still hear the whir of the transmission if I strip the interior.
I think maybe we can hope for that feature in a future update - e.g. more muffled and bassy sound with vibration for normal interiors - and as you strip down the interior and remove parts via weight reduction, you hear less bass and rumble, and more hollowness. Not over done though, as road cars do not automatically sound as hollow as pure race car cockpits. Even then, you should be able to hear AND feel the power, rumble, and vibration from the engine/exhaust system. Where it’s at right now is good for most cars…
So I don’t want to lose the engine/exhaust rumble, bass, and vibration effects. Those can add a lot of immersion. They still need to address individual cars though: the newer 911 GT3 road cars e.g. sound like they took the GT3 race car cockpit effects and pasted it to the road cars. They sound so flat and hollow in cockpit, eekh!
I had the race exhaust and it’s awful. Stock exhaust sounds good.
Idk why they can’t make the exhaust upgrades a bit louder w each upgrade. A lot of cars fh5 and fm sound better w stock exhaust vs upgraded, some got quieter… And why they have choppy idles coming from exhaust upgrades that’s not right… it’s cam upgrades that gives it that aggressive idle and chop.
Good point and very observant.
I hope they will make the necessary improvements. The stock vs upgraded sounds need quite a bit of work.
As an example, I just drove the allegedly improved Integra Type R. It sounds quiet and sounded nearly as quiet with little change in exhaust tone, pitch, and character after full upgrades. Many others examples like this in the game.
Out of the three the C7.R sounds the best. It sounds exactly how I heard it in person at the 2019 Rolex24 down the main straight. The Huayra R sounds BETTER but sounds a little generically mixed still. And its idle could be louder for sure like the Valkyrie AMR. They need to increase some cars idle volume and more importantly interior volume. Many high end exotics and race cars sound nearly mute with in car view where it should be nearly as loud as third person view.
Engines are never loud enough I haven’t heard the music in this game since day one. Took me almost a year to figure out the track has noises in the pits and talking. Have everything adjusted to just hear more engine, I still want and need more.
I’m really pleased.
First I was caught off guard as the new sounds are so much different than the old ones, but that really sets it into perspective how wrong they were before.
Have to agree on them not being loud enough.
Definitely needs to be a lot louder.
Great point. The cars need to have all the right notes and frequencies in interior view as to give the player a sense of power and impact. The 2021 and 2019 911 GT3 RS for example… Weak and hollow cockpit sound. No impact or sense of power. Many cars have this problem in the game, including the V12 and some V8 Ferraris. Even the 918 having the wrong sound already, sounds so weak and inspiring in cockpit. So cockpit sounds definitely…need a lot of work.
So this and yeah the C7R sounds bonkers now. Love it. Beautiful dynamic range in all views.
Did they update the Vulcan and AMR Vulcan sounds? Those have a weird Aventador-like sound the last time I checked. The signature scream and wail is not there.
These audio updates are so badly needed I’m happy they’re happening but only three each update seems a bit on the slow side… Hopefully they can do more with each update.
The only thing I’ve found is that the Integra sounds like it has double glazing in cockpit it’s so quiet, or is it just me?
I think along with the updates T10 could raise the volume on all cars in general. Right now it’s a little under whelming and does not feel immersive enough. More car cockpit shake and cockpit noise would be good to.
The LFA sound has been updated even though I was already enjoying the already updated sound, lol
But this time… WOW. They exceeded expectations in every way imaginable.
The chase sound is loud and screamy, detail rich and really makes your spine tingle as you increase the volume on your amp.
Go to cockpit, and man… The rumble and vibrations from both the engine and exhaust can be clearly felt and heard. The sound deadening effect is great and I know exactly when to shift without looking at the tacho. Absolutely brilliant!
Go to hood/bonnet, and you’ll hear the engine really working and screaming relentlessly.
There’s so many details and nuances, I can’t put it in words. This could possibly be the best sounding LFA I’ve heard in a game. Even the replays have a pitch perfect flyby sound and you practically feel like you’re standing trackside.
Nick and Mike have really outshined themselves, along with the entire audio team, of course.
THIS is the kind of attention to detail we need for all cars. I know we have reported individual makes and models, Mike/Nick, but in particular:
- All the modern 911 GT3, Carrera, and GT2 road cars
- Both R35 Skylines
- All the reported modern Ferrari V12s and V8s
- Modern McLarens
If all these cars can ultimately be updated, oh my I’m going to have a hard time breaking away from the game!
The Supra RZ you’ve updated is also excellent for the most part, sickening reverb just like the real one.
Thank you Mike and Nick, and all you beautiful people in the audio team. Great time to be alive and a Motorsport fan
Side note: If anybody feeling the updated sounds are not good, please treat yourself to a surround amp. Nick said during a conference or demo I think when FM 4 was about to come out, explaining all the work going into replicating car sound that you should “hear the game in 5.1”, as you will hear thr game “the way the developers intended” or something along those lines.
I’m going to echo just that. Get a decent surround system and you are in for a treat. Apologies for the long winded post, lol, but I am so pleased with this turnaround.
So I think a little praise is due. The team’s hard work shows.
Yeah, the sound on this car is…wow…amazing
Really excited to see what’s coming with the new audio team! The new mustangs sound wonderful too.
