Hi! So i’ve just come across a few cars that, to my knowledge, have had recent sound updates but with no official notes in the patch notes.
The cars i’ve tested and have had (much improved) sound updates are:
Lamborghini Essenza SCV12
Pagani Huayra R
Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster
I believe a modern Mustang has also had a sound update, possibly the GT350R? will confirm soon.
I’m also wondering if the Murcielago sound has been updated given that we’ve had a couple of V12 engine sounds changed out - I can’t verify this because as soon as I heard the Murci’s sound I didn’t bother trying to get it (something T10 should really be paying attention to btw, engine sounds have ALWAYS been something the community has gone on about since the FM2 days)
It would be cool to have some official announcement for this as ngl i’ve been waiting for these cars to be updated with better sounds before driving them and I think knowing this would encourage the community to drive them and enjoy them a lot more
Post below if you’ve found more cars that have had some sound updates!!
I’d say the 2000 Cobra R sounds better with the race exhaust. I’ve yet to add the air filters to see if that changes up the sound favorably or not, but just the race exhaust sounds good. Personally I’m not a fan of the default and other exhaust options (still sounds too synthy for my taste).
As for the GT350, anything other than stock exhaust/filter has sounded off or bad to me. And stock certainly doesn’t sound like the real car 1-to-1 here, but I still find it to be my favorite sounding car outside of the stock '18 Mustang GT. For anyone who’s played Gran Turismo 2, the stock GT350 sounds like a GT350 mixed with a Castrol Tom’s Supra JGTC from that game…and I think that’s why I have a fondness for this take on the GT350 even if it’s not 100% accurate to real life.
Well well, that is interesting indeed… I don’t really think any iteration of the Cinque has sounded right in any Forza game, so this is promising! I also get that the Zonda V12 is a complicated engine note to capture - both throaty and screamy at the same time.
“Larger audio initiative” sounds excellent though!! I remember the excitement when FM7 had a huge sound update for V6s and V12s and it really was epic. The sound updates I listed above are all really well done so I’m hoping that we will get that quality moving forward
It wasn’t included in the Release Notes because the audio team did not make any car sound changes for Update 9.0. Is it possible you’ve changed your settings, maybe a device update?
I didn’t change any settings in the last two weeks but 5 days ago I can guarantee you @T10ManteoMax the sound of the Cinque is different, a lot different.
So either it was changed in the weeks leading upto Update 9 or everyone here is delusional
The OP asked for an official statement. I took what the thread said to the devs who work on audio and they say they didn’t change anything. I’m not saying anyone here is delusional nor am I going to try to convince the people who work on this that they’re delusional; that’s a conversation that isn’t going to get anywhere. I’m simply asking if there may be another reason for the change in audio. If there are video samples and settings information I can send back to the dev team maybe we can figure out the reason for the change in sound. Until then, the answer I’ve given for why it wasn’t in the Release Notes is the only answer I can offer.
I don’t have the means to capture or upload as I don’t have a YouTube account but if anyone here can capture the Pagani Cinque and then we can compare and confirm that the engine sound has changed.
There’s no other vehicle’s that I have tried out but playing the video side by side with the one that @Gojo665 posted a while back here the sound will be noticeably different
Edit: just logged in to try it again and it’s definitely different, there is a more noticeable V12 scream near redline in each gear plus at maximum speed and the downshifting sound has more of a blip to it
The overall muffled drone sound has been removed or modified
A lot different might be an overstatement but it sounds like a V12 now, not like a detuned V8 or a Dodge V10 missing a cylinder of before. If in fact the sound team has not changed anything or forgot to say Oh yeah I did do something but it wasn’t a complete change it’s still noticeable and sounds better so it’s a Win
Seeing we are talking about changes that were made to the audio in the game I noticed some others that mentioned the mixing sounded better etc and there was definitely something changed few weeks back because one day I logged in and couldn’t hardly hear the engine from inside the cabin, all the other sounds like other vehicles engines I could hear over my own and had to adjust all the sliders and since doing that it sounds off in every other view.
Very frustrating and was never answered when I opened a thread in the TSHUB, just disappeared down the page so far and it’s not worth going looking for it.
Some things Have Changed over the last few weeks that were not in the release notes for either update 8 nor 9
Maybe @CRSSQU4R3D would like to chime in as they know a thing or two about audio and have noticed differences being made over the last few weeks
Would love to see one of those " we’re closing this thread as we know we will be re-recording this car…" messages for the modern V12 Ferraris… The whole debacle with the modern Ferrari hypercars sharing the same weak sample after one of the game updates where the game size was slashed by 15gb or more.
