Car sounds that still need to be fixed?

So, I haven’t seen any threads for this after today’s update. Since I’m just one man, it’s impossible for me to go through every car and remember what they sounded like before and after. So that’s why I’m making this.

Which car sounds do you guys think still need to he improved, be it if they haven’t been improved yet, or were improved in the update but still need more work?

My only one so far is the Audi 90 Quattro. The turbo chirp is back, but still needs a bit louder of a chirp.

And of course the superchargers and turbos of all cars. As well as trannywhine.

So besides those few examples, what do you guys think?

Thanks again T10 for the amazing update and listening to us!

Well, reading about this specific update made me quite hopeful.
I was first happy about the Mclaren Senna inclusion, i believe it is an important update for the game title, not to mention it will be a fun addition as well but as i kept scrolling down i noticed about engine noise remaps, and they where quite specific when relating the majority of the updates to v12’s from Ferrari, Lambo, Aston and some Porsche models (not v12s) being reworked as well, boy that made me happy.
There are some really satisfying engine notes, very close to the real models already in the game like the Porsche 991 GT3 RS, you can notice how well the sound mutates across the rev range towards the limit, ranging from an engine note up to a heavier intake resonance towards the redline. If you watch onboard videos from the car itself you can notice how close it is, and i particularly love that.
Another car that produces amazing sounds are Ferrari’s v12 powered vehicles, but they sound a little disappointing, tame in the game. Take the F12 berlineta for example, in any video of the car itself, the car pours insane amounts of intake resonances, the cabin gets almost too much of it. The 599 GTO is a little closer to the thing but still could use some more aggression. The F12 is all wrong, sounds synthetic, and somehow it sounded a little similar to an orange juice machine i’ve had, which ruined the car for me. Laferrari sounds synthy as well. I believe Lambos sound quite ok, specially the Huracan, Aventador as well but the sound i like the most from this range so far is the V12 from the Aston DBS. But the turbocharged v12 from the new db11 sounds off for my tastes at least.
Im a little finicky on car sounds, not to mention that i follow far too many track related channels on YT so to me a list of cars that need engine and exhaust note rework would be:

-Ferrari F12 Berlinetta
-Ferrari 812 Superfast (a little louder intake, less synthy)
-Ferrari Laferrari (yes, i think it is off in a similar way as the 812)
-Ferrari 599 GTO (its not as bad as the F12 but could use reworks as well, more aggression)
-Ferrari FXX K (sounds very tame)
-McLaren 720s (Jesus, that car sounds all wrong, even the dynamics of it are off. Gear changes are so slow it unbalances the car on high speed corners, the 720s shifts much quicker than the game suggests)
-Golf R (i’ve driven one, including tuned GTi’s and and other EA888 powered vehicles, it sounds a little congested in the game to me)
-Some turbocharged straight six cylinders from BMW sounded like a conjested Toyota Supra (present at FM6). These beemers just sound different from that. Just try jumping back in FM6 and try a Supra and then try the M235i. Its identical while it should have been alot closer to the M4 instead which sounds ok.

Im preety sure i would find other examples, these are the ones whose sounds disappointed me recently that i remember the most…
I just would love to see the same ammount of dedication models like the GT3 RS had being put on Ferrari’s V12s as well.
Regarding all of these Ferraris mentioned, i don’t think they are insanely bad, i think they just need some rework so they would sound a a little less synthetic and add a little intake resonance in the upper range. I believe that would fix it all and make them far more pleasurable to ride in game.

But feel free to disagree, sound is a personal thing, not everybody has the same impression or notices the same details too.

Just so you can understand my gripe on the 720s, watch these videos and grab it on the game afterwards… it’s like, it’s not even the same car! Gear changes, resonation, note… nothing

This is a GT3 RS on the Ring, notice the engine tonal changes in the car itself and see how close to that they’ve got in the game! its probably one of the best sounding cars in the game for me.
Also, this video is delicious to watch…

As I was testing the new sounds, I found that the Carrera GT was changed and sounds SO much better than it did before. They got close to the real sound which is great to hear. Especially in first person, it sounds amazing.

The aventador v12 sounds (Aventador SV and Veneno etc.) we’re changed for the worse IMO. The 1st person POV sounds good, but the 3rd person POV sounds off a little. Not enough of a big change to really bug me though. What else did you guys notice from the car sound update?

When was this update made available? i don’t think i’ve tested any updated content yet

Theres a few for me that are still annoying like the Ford gt GTLM which in game sounds identical to the road version when in reality people know this thing has a beastly rasp snarl growl to it. It sounded pretty good in forza 6 ( although in forza 6 the road version was glitched with the GTLM sound). All they have to do is keep the sound for the road going version present but port over the sound from the version in forza 6 then boom it’s fixed. Then another is the BMW m8 GTE which is a mash up of the m3 e92 gt2 and a loud turbo spool. I reality it should sound closer to how the m6 GTLM sounds with maybe keeping the loud turbos or making the exhaust louder, one of the two. But it does not sound accurate especially since I follow imsa. Theres also something weird sound wise going on within the lambo v12s specifically the aventador line and the centenario. They should all sound similar with slight differences in rev ranges.

The 2019 GT3RS sound was changed and is now HORRIBLE. Gone is the howling 4L and it sounds more like a low revving V-8.

Lol what? it was the best sounding car in the game! now u made me worried… Gotta get home and test it. No bloddy way in hell they should have touched the GT3RS…

They ruined it alright

Oh my God man… i am so disappointed right now
Came home last night after all of this discussion and remember i’ve mentioned how the best car sounds in the game, personally, where the GT3 RS and the Aston DBS?
Well, i went straight to them last night, Forza started updating, got my Mclaren Senna and surprise! The GT3 RS now sounds like an aircooled 964 all the way up to 7k rpm!

[Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]

And as if that wasn’t enough, the second best sounding car in the game, the DBS… they had to ruin that as well. The cabin sound is great but the exhaust sound from third person view got smoothened out, the DBS sounds throathy and the game had that right before, it now sounds like a DB11, turbocharged, alot smoother than what it is supposed to. The two cars i liked the most, oh boy…

They refuse to fix paint booth, now an Aircooled 964 with farting issues for the GT3 and a DBS with flu. Great. Are they kidding me? sry for the rant.

Pretty much all of them need to be redone. There are no low ends to any of the sounds. They have no depth. Only bass we have are the curbs and the confetti cannons for exhausts. When are they just gonna start porting audio over from 5, 6, and Horizon 2? It actually feels like my ears are gonna start bleeding from all the screeching. Back to the drawing board.

You guys need to get your ears checked. The previous audio for the GT3 sounded like their was a frog stuck in the headers. It finally sounds like a high revving flat 6 instead of whatever it used to be. Its by far the closest sounding car to its IRL counterpart (granted without and bass to it). Everything else sounds overly synthesized, poorly mixed, and no depth.

Case in point
IRL:

In game:

You also need to get your ears checked on the 964. It has a FAR DEEPER groan than any of the new flat 6s.

JSR Devon just put a video up of before and after comparisons. You should check that out. Some cars changed a lot, like the rotaries. Some of the changes were very minor.

I hope they fix the nasally Viper sound, but not like the FH4 Vipers

They have the 917/30 file on the 917/20. The 917/20 was right before this.

Let me put it this way… The sounds need to be brutal. They sound like my hair dryer. I urge you (Turn 10) to go onto Youtube and listen to the real cars on the real tracks, not comparing what other games are offering.

After this I lost all hopes that we will get proper engine sounds in Forza… ever…

Still better than anything gran turismo ever put out.

Meh idk about that. GT got their stuff together with Sport, the cars overall sound more accurate in that game to be real. And im not even really a GT fan anymore. And I lost all hope too, they had one job and it’s still barely satisfactory until they get better technology, better audio staff members, and trim down the car roster it will always be like this.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

Still sounds like RB26 at high rpms (sounds good between 800-3500rpm)

Greenwood Corvette still sounds like a small block going through magnaflows. I drive a sidepiped '80 C3 as a DD and that thing has a meatier exhaust than what they’ve got for a supposed 7.7L V8 in this game.

As far as I know, these still need fixing - BMW M8 GTE, 2012 M5, 2013 M6, 1991 Mazda Motorsport RX-7, Ford Fusion Nascar, Maserati Gran Turismo S. Also the One-77 was fine before the update. Still waiting on proper gear shift animations. All in all its a great update one of the best we’ve had.

I’m surprised no one’s mentioned the Skyline Super Silhoutte or the Bob Sharp 280ZX - Both those cars are completely off from what they sound like in real life.
