It’s only 3h, 30min till early access launch here in Europe.
Is there any kind of compensation for the boys, men, girl, women PREORDERED FM7 ULTIMATE EDITION and their preload still messing up and will not be able to play it at release time?
What I want to say:
These people had trust in you, Microsoft, Turn10. Trust in you providing them a game in good shape, at the promised date.
To be able to play the game at the promised date (September, 29th, 00:00) you Microsoft & Turn 10 enabled a preload. Cause not everybody has a 100MBit or better internet connection.
And some individuals didn’t even have a flat-rate! They are more or less cut of after maybe 500GB! Shame on every modern industriel state, but this is another topic.
Back to the people and their trust in Microsoft & Turn 10.
They trusted you, trusted you in giving you their (mostly) hard earned money in advance that you provide them your product and your service best shape.
I don’t know how good the product will be (hopefully better than the demo) but I know that the service (in other words the preload) is far away to be called good.
Some boys, girls, men, women have run out of download volume just because FM7 failed to download over and over again.
For my part I can say I am one of the (hopefully) lucky guys with a fast flat rate and a preload that might have worked well (just found Microsoft.ApolloBaseGame_1.106.2356.2_neutral_~_8wekyb3d8bbwe with 12.412 Bytes and Microsoft.ApolloBaseGame_1.106.2356.2_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe with 102.354.565.665 Bytes) in the WindowsApps folder)
What about giving something back to the community? Just give something to the people who gave you their trust, their money!
Just to give you some examples of what I am thinking is suitable to apologize to your customers and (maybe) fans (I am far away from being a fan of Forza):
I went 70 gb over my data limit trying to download multiple times this stupid game, and now I have to wait till October 4th till my internet cycle resets. So not only I lose early access, and have to wait at least a day after the game officially launches, but I have to pay $15 for exceeding my data limit.
I suggest all DLC should be free to ultimate edition owners for sticking this out, including those released after the car pass ones do.
Strictly speaking this is all MS’s fault, not Turn 10’s, as it’s MS’s store. Even so, that’s what MS should do but that’s exactly what they won’t do. They will do nothing to compensate us. Zilch. Nada. Nought. Zero. They’ve already tried to blame it on us with our ‘intermittent connections’.
I doubt it is ALL Microsoft’s fault.
Gears of War 4 (nearly 125GB) was downloading fine everytime I had to download it again after an OS refresh. With FH3 I had some problems here and then.
How is it NOT all their fault?
MS owns and runs the store. MS owns the developers, Turn 10. It was an error with an MS app (Mail and Calendar) that caused the initial issue that resulted in all the failed downloads and errors since then. I got all the way to somewhere just over 91Gb without a single issue or speed drop. Mail and Calendar popped up trying to update, it failed and then FM7 failed, all resulting in the same error code. Since then it’s been impossible to complete the download.
It is completely 100% their fault.
From what it looks like, those issues were caused by an update to the Windows Store application. Ever since the most recent version was released, there’s been multiple mentions in the Feedback Hub for Win10 about issues with downloads, updates and so on.
Im soo pissed right now… after like 5 tries that went to like 20-30gb , it just finished downloading the 95 gb and than i got an error and it just started over…

Do i have to wait for the final release to be able to download it or what ?
I agree. but we have to wait for the official go live (which is later today) to starts asking for compensations.
if its not working as expected as of the promise date / hour and we cant use the early access advantage we pay for, so yes, a compensation is required.
for now, in my case, I’m sure I’ll not have it working , the download is not starting at all
You realise for past 24+ hours there is a thread on front page titled "How to pre-load Forza 7 with guaranteed success (on PC) " ??

I haven’t even tried getting it through the store. I had problems with FH3 too, so I went straight to using a download manager.
I know and I agree this it is unacceptable behaviour from microsoft, and the devs statement is frustrating,
but I am just trying to spread the info that if you want to play today, you can.
Points 2 and 3 are obvious and I agree, but I sure as hell plan to play forza when I get home tonight so that is why I am using the fool proof method.
Sorry if I offend you but I find it hard to believe that good english is required to follow the simple steps. The website has links to the programs you need, and you can use a translator to translate all the instructions. You can’t mess you computer up by trying so even if you don’t figure it out first go you will eventually. PM me if you get stuck and I am happy to try and help with aid of a text translator.
edit: I believe this is 100% Microsoft fault, I feel sorry for the devs, they cannot make changes to the way the windows store works - they are at mercy to microsoft and when/if they decide to change their stores infrastructure. They will loose sales due to this, and microsoft has had over a year to fix it.
They have released their vague statement but they cannot even say when the issue will be fixed because microsoft probably has strict update schedules, procedures and protocols which means they can’t just roll out quick hotfixes for problems like this in windows unless they involve comprising security.
I agree; the situation is unacceptable and the solution of “just wait until it’s unlocked to complete the download” fails to address the larger issue:
I paid for early access to this game. If I have to download the software after it is released, I do not have early access. Period. I have paid money for a service that I am not receiving.
Steam does not have issues with content distribution, to my knowledge; certainly none that I’ve ever run across. Nor does Origin, or Apple’s store, for that matter. It’s self-evident that Microsoft does, and that the people involved are actively indifferent toward addressing those issues. “Just wait” is not an acceptable answer.
I expect some kind of reasonable compensation for these issues; given that the ultimate edition of FH3 is $90; a $10 refund as RustlessBean495 suggested seems fair to me.
Otherwise I’ll simply return the game and get a $100 refund. I bought every version of Forza at launch up to 6; it was, in fact, the only title I ever purchased for xbox (I don’t do console gaming). I skipped 6 because Microsoft’s initial stance on DRM and subsequent backtracking on the xbone irritated me enough that I decided I wasn’t going to buy the console. I can skip 7 just as easily.
You won’t get any kind of compensation from Microsoft unless the pre-load fails beyond the game’s official 3rd October launch. Sorry but Microsoft just aren’t that considerate of their customers and they’ll argue that as long as you can download the game come midnight tomorrow (or today, depending on your point of view) then you still have the chance to play it on or shortly after the 29th.
To be honest, I kind of expected some kind of issue with the Store as it comes with every major release on that platform in my experience. The Store is just not a good digital distribution platform for these large games and needs a drastic overhaul IMO. It’s abysmal compared with the likes of Steam and so on. Killer Instinct launches on Steam today and I bet that goes smoothly and sells far more copies than it did on the Store.
It’s definitely worth asking for compensation if you are unable to get the download completed before the early access period begins and you would have finished downloading it without the Windows Store issues. Last year I had huge problems with the FH3 download over several days, and I contacted Microsoft support / accounts and billing department multiple times in chat and they were able to give me a full refund as well as additional compensation and on top of that the game stayed registered to my account. proof: https://i.imgur.com/wet3pY0.png To those that say you can’t get a refund from MS - utter tosh.
One year later and sad to see the problems with the Store are still there. MS can push Windows Updates and xbox downloads reliably, but apparently not windows store downloads.
To Turn 10 - next time, launch on Steam instead and skip the Windows Store entirely.
How come I haven’t heard of any other game ever doing this? This EXACT scenario happened when FH3 launched and we’re going to blame MS? I’m starting to see a pattern here…
Edit: To those expecting compensation or an explanation regarding this screw up …don’t. They didn’t do anything for those affected last year when downloading FH3.
