Not sure what was meant that my download will complete when i am able to access the game. Does that mean pre-loading does not work and that i should download when early access starts, or should i try again, and it will only finish when early access starts, or will there be a day one patch after this 95gb download which will be released when the game goes live.
The update does not give a clear indication if we should still try to pre-load, or if we should just wait, as it seems that the download was done, and shall continue on Friday, but does that mean the data is still available?
So if you could clear this up that would be great, should we continue to pre load, or should we wait?
I think what SOY means is if you are getting stopped during your download, you have been locked out… at least you can download your ‘ultimate edition’ I can’t now for some reason, it is asking for me to ‘pre-order’ it again. meaning I don’t own the ‘ultimate’ edition anymore…
EDIT0: And what it means to be locked out, means that you can’t download it until it unlocks (I.E. when the game is playable for those that downloaded it successfully) you can then start your download again. I know it sucks, I am in the same basket.
Did you check at the windows store to see what it says? I have the same issue as you regarding the download but at the F7 ultimate page in the store it tells me I own it but there is an error
FACEPLAM, during me doing the whole WSRESET thing and everything else people recommended, I failed to realise that I was not logged into the M$ store, after logging in, it says that I own the ULTIMATE edition, yay… but it brings up a concerning issue… how was I able to download the standard edition (so far less than 100mb >.>) but not be logged in…
Then how come some people have no problem finishing the entire download? If it’s because parts of the game are unlocked until the 29th, then this issue should affect everyone.
As I understood the post, SOY was basically saying that the issues with downloading the game will be fixed once the game is unlocked at midnight today and that it will download or finish downloading (if the game has currently stalled or failed). I guess we’ll see but, I for one, will not be holding my breath as I’ve heard all that before.
That really is poor IMO if a digital distribution platform cannot support pre-loading properly. And if the “fix” is to unlock the game then why don’t they do that now for the Ultimate Edition rather than at midnight to allow people to actually download it so they can play it on the 29th? Not all of us have fast internet connections and on my PC the game will take roughly a day to download, perhaps a bit longer, on my 14 Mbps (and that’s assuming nothing else is downloading at the same time since it is a non-fibre connection at that). This and the fact that I seem to have download issues of some kind with EVERY large (30+ GB) game on the Store means that I will never pre-order anything again on that platform and instead I will wait to hear feedback first before deciding whether to buy it then or wait in the hope that it comes out on a better distribution platform like Steam.
Although SOY did not say it I can almost guarantee that the issues with downloading this game are a result of the Store itself. It sits on top of layers of encryption and hidden folders that by default are inaccessible and rely on very specific security permissions. I believe that those are the cause of most of the issues with downloading, not helped by the fact that the Store itself is poorly suited to large downloads anyway. It lacks a reliable pause/resume function, restarting your PC during a download can often cause the game to start downloading again, there’s no way to validate the files once they’re downloaded (to check for possible corruption - Steam, Origin and UPlay all have this feature) nor is there any way to back up your 50 - 95 GB game once you’ve downloaded it (in case you ever need to reinstall without having to wait hours/days for it to redownload). The Windows Store is a poor piece of software in my honest opinion and certainly the most problematic of the four digital distribution platforms I use (Steam, Origin and UPlay being the other three, of course).
The update on this problem is just a big joke.
Instead of finding a solution he says that we should not interrupt the download.
Wow, this is a solution that I expect from a big company like Microsoft.
This was the first and the last game that I bought in the MS Store.
The Windows store seems sensitive to unstable connections, if people download using WIFI with bad signal, or some unstable ISP, that’s where you get the problems and it doesn’t seem to like pause/resume?
And yes the security stuff is heavy too, for example if a certificate is unsigned (or something wrong on their end), you can’t download it, like we had with mail and calender update for a few days.
All the encryption, file and folder permissions, registry keys, the whole UWP / WinRT / AppX integration in Windows10 is VERY sensitive to corruptions. however this by itself is not the problem of Turn10 Studio’s, it’s Microsoft’s.
Sorry but yes that response is unacceptable. The ultimate edition allow early access. I’ ve probally downloaded a total of 300GB over the past few days, and you’re now telling me that I still can’t play the moment the game is unlocked, that I’ll just have to go through downloading the whole thing again? Sorry guys, but don’t sell early access if your platform is unable to perform such a feat.
so what microsoft is saying that a 150 mbps connection isnt stable enough to download this game? i reinstalled my whole pc to try and fix the problem to no avail, meanwhile also downloading my whole steam library back and surprise surprise IT WORKS!!! fix your sh*t turn10/microsoft i didnt pay a 100 euro’s to wait for a game to release and THEN have to download it.
Sorry but if I can download all 67 GB of the game on toy console called the Xbox One via Wi-Fi without any issues at all then I should be able to do exactly the same on a much more capable PC. All this talk of not interrupting downloads and so on are just excuses for poor coding on Microsoft’s part. If I can download 50+ GB games on Steam, Origin and UPlay with very few issues then why can I not do the same on the Store? The internet connection is not the problem; it’s the Store itself. If it cannot cope with 95 GB pre-loads then Microsoft need to do something about it… el pronto… before people catch on and stop buying games from there altogether. Games like Forza Motorsport 7 deserve much better than just being sold on the Windows Store; I’d wager that if it was sold on Steam or any other service that it would sell far more copies.
I bought the forza 7 deluxe from Microsoft store on my computer for the x box console. It wont down load the game TO my xbox. I go to my games and apps and its not there…now what? When I go back to the store it says " down load to xbox console". But it dosent. There’s nothing on the console to download.
If you go to My Games and Apps on your xbox, you can tab down to either “ready to install” or “Games” and check to see if its listed there. You can also go to the store on your xbox and search for the game and install from there as well.
