I have been able to download the 67 GB game to my Xbox One, connected via Wi-Fi to my router, without a single issue and I played it in the early hours of this morning from midnight. It’s a great game from initial impressions, running flawlessly in gameplay at 60 FPS and only suffering from weird stuttering in anything that’s FMV.
Anyway, I bought the game primarily for my PC as that is my main gaming platform and the demo easily ran at 4K and over 60 FPS (thanks to the weird Framerate = 60 FPS (V-Sync) bug on my 165 Hz G-SYNC display) maxed out with 8xMSAA, essentially better than Xbox One X quality. However, I have been unable to download the game at all on PC without all four of the Ultimate Edition files erroring out. Initially the game did start downloading to my I drive but like everyone else the download stalled at around 2 GB and on clicking Retry it started again from the beginning before halting again with an error at the 58.8 MB mark. Thereafter the game has refused to download at all despite the four files showing various levels of installing, checking and downloading.
The errors for the four files are as follows:
FM7 Ultimate Edition - Code: 0x803FB107
FM7 Hoonigan Car Pack - Code: 0x80073D12
FM7 Fate of the Furious (Day One) Car Pack - Code: 0x80073D12
FM7 VIP - Code: 0x80073D12
I’ve done the usual sfc /scannow and dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth checks and both report no errors. I’ve ran wsreset.exe from an elevated command prompt. I’ve cancelled the downloads and uninstalled all the pre-order files then clicked on the FM7 UE Install button from the Store numerous times. I’ve even signed out of the Store, ran Disk Clean-up and CCLeaner, and restarted my PC, Nothing will get the damn game to download. It’s beyond frustrating at this point.
I know there’s nothing wrong with my PC or the internet connection (my PC is connected by cable direct to my router) because Steam has been downloading dozens of game updates without issue and I bought and downloaded FIFA 18 on Origin the day before yesterday. Also, the Store itself has download and installed updates for about 8 apps as well as 25 GB update for Halo Wars 2 (installed to the same location as I’m trying to install FM7 to) and Minecraft among others. The I drive I’m trying to install to has 614 GB of free space, more than enough for the 95 GB FM7 download.
So why is this game stubbornly refusing to download still? It is now 7 hours past the release time which is when we were told we would be able to download the game (since it became clear that the pre-load was not working for many due to incompetence - what else can it be? - on Microsoft’s part). If it wasn’t for the fact that I can play it my Xbox One, even though that is not the platform I bought the game for, then I would be absolutely fuming right now because I bought the Ultimate Edition specifically to play this weekend on my PC. At this point I don’t think the PC specs are relevant but it’s an i7-4770K, 16 GB, GTX 1080 Ti, Windows 10 Pro v1730 64-bit system in case anyone is wondering.
I have sent files generated by the Windows Store using wscollect to support twice now and apart from the first time, pre-release, I’ve not heard anything else back.
PLEASE FIX THIS!!! YOU ARE DAMAGING THIS GAME’S REPUTATION BY RELEASING ON THE CLEARLY BUGGY AND INADEQUATE WINDOWS STORE!
