I’ve just started racing A Class online and I wanted to be competitive, so I checked the A Class leaderboards and virtually all of them are owned by the XBow. So I get me an XBow and hop into the A Class lobbies.
And I’m, like, the only one with an XBow.
I thought that was a bit strange. Then I hear racers that race very clean saying that they are looking forward to wrecking the XBow [gulp]. Then, on several occasions, it appears I’ve been voted out of lobbies, because I’m just suddenly kicked out even though my online connection is extremely strong.
Now, I don’t wreck people, I never retaliate, and I do my best to let a driver who is obviously faster than me pass. I also don’t swear or make annoying noises.
So I’m guessing I’m being kicked simply for driving the XBow.
Don’t use the leaderboard cars in a hopper, unless the room says there going too, or whatever… People who use leaderboard cars all the time are generally in the way, because they have a car much faster then the others, but not the same skill level. Most of the time they drive them in order to keep up with the other races, which causes them to be in the way, or just simply win all thime if they are half decent.
It just seems to be the unwritten rule of the hoppers.
It’s very commonplace to see people kicked for using “leaderboard cars” in a lobby, just as it is common people will refuse to use said cars as if not using them makes them a “better” player. And sure, there’s a lot of people that can set much better times in a random tuned car than the average person could in the “leaderboard” car. But that’s the catch. It really shouldn’t matter what you are driving, if somebody isn’t a good driver the car won’t suddenly make them fast, just as somebody else using a normal car doesn’t somehow get worse just because you picked one. I’d say just race fair and clean and don’t worry about it. Holy Puck above me raises the point of them “getting in the way” to keep up with other players, but isn’t that entirely the point? If you can’t keep up to stay in the pack why are you racing? Obviously don’t be cutting people off, but otherwise if they can’t race around you being there they should stick to hot lapping.
Im not a big fan of others using the xbow either but it is i what it is. Most of the time the car gets in the way because the driver is not courteous to others on the track with that thing. Most of the time you will see it dive bomb into the corner on your inside and run you off the track because the driver of that car thinks they are unstoppable with all that grip. Or if its a decent driver you never see the car again because it is so overpowered you just cant keep up unless you are in one.
So i agree with puck but at the same time i have to agree with PTG because you did pay money for it so race what you want just be prepared for others in the lobby to be butthurt and try to wreck u. (sad truth)
For me, it’s pretty simple. If you are struggling online to compete, I don’t see what the problem is with picking leaderboard cars. Cars like the Viper and F50 are great beginner cars because they are very easy to control, and are perfect for newcomers trying to learn the game. However, if you are competitive online or find yourself winning a lot of races, do yourself a favor and start choosing some non LB cars. I personally don’t care what anyone picks, but it does get old when people keep picking the same LB car every single race. BUT, it’s tougher to distinguish what is and isn’t a leaderboard car in B and C class. There are so many different cars that are capable of being a leaderboard car in those classes, that chances are you’re picking a leaderboard car unless you’re picking a truck or SUV.
Also, I will say that I agree with whoever mentioned that we bought the game so we should be able to pick whatever we want. I love driving the F50 and Viper, and will pick them every once in awhile just to remember how beast these cars are haha. I will never use them as a crutch though. There comes a point in time when you have improved at the game, and that is exactly what they become… a crutch.
You’re not imagining things. I’m a D class racer myself, but I see the same attitudes towards the Mini. People complain about them, look to smash into them, and get very annoyed by them. I’ve noticed now that I’m improving a fair amount, I empty a lot of the lobbies I go into with my Mini. There are about 20 guys that will just leave as soon as I show up. I thought maybe I had forgotten to shower or something, but I realized what it was eventually.
I say keep driving your Xbow and don’t worry about what everyone else thinks.
Sorry to say I’m a “Mini hater” (although I’d NEVER wreck you for driving one or ragequit over it), and my defense is this:
I want to race D-class. I want to be competitive. I have a killer '70 Vette. It does really well in D-class lobbies… until the LB minis show up. I’ve never been a fan of the mini, new or old, but sometimes I feel like I need one just to stay competitive. It just shouldn’t be that way.
I really don’t want to sound like a whiner, but it does get old constantly having your a** handed to you by LB cars you have no interest in driving. Sometimes a LB car dominates a class so badly it becomes a problem, and the Mini approaches that threshold, if it doesn’t cross it.
I get that. However, the Mini is primarily in D class because its one of the slowest cars in the game. Granted, it makes up for that deficiency with its handling, braking, and acceleration. Where else are we supposed to race them? There isn’t an E class or a lower case C class. The Mini does seem unfair on certain tracks, much like the Xbow is in A class, but its not the fault of the people driving them. Some of us would just much prefer to drive the Mini. Not because it has the advantage of being a LB car, but that its very easy to control. In Lobbies, that means a lot when you have to work your way around people that are sliding all over the place in the RWD muscle cars. No offense intended towards you and your vette, but there are a ton of horrid drivers in muscle cars that cause pile ups on every track. For every good driver I see in a muscle car, I see 5 terrible ones in the D class hoppers. Not so much as you get into C and B classes though because you can build some grip into your tunes.
Unless Turn10 brings back used created lobbies where restrictions can be put in place, its fair game to drive whatever you want. All we have is the class restrictions for now.
Also, I wanted to mention that I would imagine at least half of the people playing Forza have no idea what is and isn’t a leaderboard car. They just pick what they like and that’s that. A lot of people don’t check the leaderboards and are just concentrating on racing online or playing tag or whatever else. Forza Horizon was my first Forza game I played, and I had no idea what was a leaderboard car for the first few months because I never checked the leaderboards. I just picked what felt good to me.
Is it true? I’m not much of a tuner but i try to tune a car to be as fast as i can possibly make it. I’m not thinking about anything but the lap times. If it’s more difficult to drive but runs faster lap times, that’s fine by me. I wasn’t aware people used “lobby tunes”, i thought everyone just used the fastest tune they can find.
a lobby tune has more aero and acceleration. a hotlap car is the fastest on a certian line and requires continueing momentum for speed. it has jest enough aero to keep it on an unobstructed track. with other cars on the track you probably aren’t going to get unobstructed, you are going to have to get back up to speed more than just maintain speed. a car in the corner ahead of you is going to make you either slow down, go offline, or crash. a lobby is a moving slalom around the hot lap line. a lobby tune has to be more of a jack of all trades, it has to be about recoveing and getting back online/speed after an obstacle rather than maintaining speed without obstacles. hotlapping is being the fastest on a certian line, circut racing is about being the fastest if deprived of that line.
Sorry but I’m going to have to completely disagree with what you’re saying here. The fastest tune is the best whether it be used for hotlapping or lobby racing. I may concede that somebody may use a slower tune for use in lobby racing but that would be to handicap themselves and that’s a different thing altogether.
Yup. I never build lobby tunes to have max grip or downforce. That’s just asking to be slower. I build all cars to be leaderboard cars and that’s what I race. Sometimes they can randomly beat a PB in a lobby an other times are a half to a full second off from my personal best. Sometimes they are just slow no matter what I do. At any rate, my best lobby tunes are cars that aren’t far off from being leaderboard. I know many other guys and gals with the same caliber “lobby cars”.
