Simulation Steering is crazy on a controller

I don’t quite get the point of simulation steering as a difficulty setting for controller players.
I mean, for wheels the whole steering setup is different so I’m not sure if it applies at all.

But on controller, even with simulation steering on, that “assist” that constrains your maximum steering angle remains on.

So if you go over a jump or do anything where your wheels disconnect from the ground, you will leave the ground with one max steering angle.
And then, mid-flight, because your speed has changed, you get a new max steering deflection which is what you land with as there is absolutely no ffb on a stick telling you when this assist is on.
This sudden change in steering deflection then makes the car flip around or do something crazy :- on the one hand the kind of extra ‘control’ one would like to gain from simulation steering.

If simulation steering just turned that off then I could learn to control my stick deflection at speed. But I can’t figure out how to drive with this partially assisted simulation input.

It’s not really meant for controller users it’s there for if you want to turn it on for a wheel. You can turn it on for pads but it requires fast reflexes.
I could run simulation on a pad before my stroke, but now i have no chance! So i know it’s possible, i also know it requires lightning fast reflexes and lots of micro-adjustments!

The OP’s point is that it doesn’t work properly on pads, it still ‘assists’ and limits the steering angle dependent on speed.

Simulation is with less assists. One main assist is speed sensitivity steering which you want. Second one should be grip sensitivity steering which helps you with not steering too much. In the air, second one could be disabled. I didn’t test it but don’t steer in air at all or very slightly. Drift suspension works a bit differently but I didn’t have time to test it properly too.
