Silverstone GP

First lap… I got rammed…

Didn’t pit or have any trouble until my tyres were 50% dead… Then I encountered Rammy McRammington (not his gamertag)… One complete and utter moron who decided it was his job to ram me off the track every single time I went to lap him…

He was that busy being a complete and utter goon that he only actually managed 85 miles…

I just finished my race. I haven’t done any other endurance races but I did enjoy it. Spent the first 10 minutes in a 1st to 3rd battle until I got wrecked, and in the next 20 minutes had to pit three more times due to wreckers. The rest of the race was uneventful and I still managed to finish in 3rd with 164 miles.

After my race wrapped up I jumped in rivals on Silverstone GP in the F1 car and everything ran fine. I’m not sure why I seemed to have issues with the game lagging and surging and no one else did. Is that a connection issue? It doesn’t make sense to me. It wasn’t that all the other cars were warping, my own car was basically doing the slow down suddenly jump ahead thing continuously. But only in the lobby and two in a row at that. Rivals before and after we’re fine

It wont happen on Rivals, it is a lag issue with your game being slightly out of sync with everyone elses

Normally a reset of Console and Modem sorts the issue out for most people

Thanks, good to know I guess. I thought about doing that last night but starting at 12:30 kind of removes some troubleshooting motivation when the restart would be happening again at like 1

First lobby was horrible last night - I could not even manage a single lap without getting hit - I gave up after 10 minutes

Second lobby was okay – I was smashed during the first and third laps, then some guy started yelling at me and quit after 15 minutes saying crashing into me ruined his game!!!

Finished the race with 162 miles and no desire to try it again.

I’ve just finished this, finished 6th out of seven finishers. Got wrecked pretty badly on the first corner doubled back to the pits got lapped, turned around and limped to the pits. 're armed god knows how many laps behind and got shunted again another pit stop and then it was clean racing to the finish. I unlapped myself towards the end so I didn’t come last but like most of these races the crashers all leave after about ten minutes so they should ghost mode the field for the first ten minutes to thin everybody out a bit.

And lap times!

The utter “many offensive words none of which accurately describe the guy” wrecker I had, finished the race… Considering how easy it is to cover 125 miles in the E21… And the guy managed 85 miles… Kinda shows just how much this idiot was attempting to ruin my race.

Maybe I was just exceptionally unlucky…

Though I have his gamertag, and saved the replay of the lobby… Not checked it yet but I hope it shows him being a goon!

Another quality endurance event weekend, ignoring the irritations that are the long queue times and the wreckers, I ended up having more than one shot at this and really enjoyed it.

Spending an hour plus in an F1 car is a bit of a treat. Silverstone is just one long series of fast sweeping bends and it’s quite addictive trying to run even faster through maggots each time without overdoing it.

Had a quality lobby too - got out in front and covered 178 miles by the end with one pit-stop about 20 mins before the end … because the tyres were cresting over 90% worn! That’s right - NOT because of an incident but simple wear on the tyres. I’ve never run the tyres up to the 100% limit so I don’t know if they’d go pop or not.

Every time I came up behind another driver they either raced as cleanly as they could or they got right out of the way but in every case, no damage done on the passes. I appreciated that.

Looking forward to see what the next endurance event is!

I’m sure tou can guess where I am going with this … This was a Trolls fantasy come true!

I had 3 attempts last night, each averaging about 20mins to wait for race to start :

attempt 1 = Car in front of me didnt move, so I had to swerve into another car who lagged. Ok not a troll incident this one, but either way race over, retired.

attempt 2 = Got round the first corner, phew, i thought great here we go! Turn 3 silverstone is a tight right where you have to brake hard for, i broke exactly where I was meant to, however the car directly behind thought it was hilarious to go full speed into the back of me … reitrement 2.

attempt 3 = Now this was the worst one, the lobby had about 8 people in, 3 from what I could see were hardcore trolls! I started at the back which i thought was good news afer the last attempt, At the start one car (his ID was something like UWISHYOUWERE2011 or something), he slammed into one car, and ruined his race, his car then looked for his next victim, i.e. me, i could tell he was looking to get me next as his car started to veer in my trajectory, so i slowed and changed path, and he did too, again to line me up, and sure enough he whacked into me, ruined my race and my car was trashed.

He then left the lobby as his job was done. I thought i’m not going to wait another 20-30mins so I carried on, i saw someone else had been wiped out, and after I pitted and on my next lap i saw a car waiting for the other cars to go round, he dived at me (fortunatrly missed) he then quit the race too. Within 5 mins I was the only one left in the lobby.

So hot lap session it was, i did 171 miles, pitted 3 times just to keep tyres fresh.

Please next time there’s an endurance hopper or long race hopper that takes ages to get into, please next time either take damage off or collisions off. Its annoying enough when its just a 3 lap race with no waiting time, but on these lobbies it is so frustrating and time consuming!

Yesterday morning I had some free time and decided I would at least attempt to finish the Silverstone F1 GP hopper. So, as I (metaphorically) rolled my Mercedes F1 Team liveried Lotus E21 out of one of the SIlverstone pit garages, I had a plan, not to race too hard, and waste time, just take it easy on the first few laps, take no damage and settle into a rhythm. Which I did.

Then, after around 80 miles and 40-50% tyre wear, I thought that I might have been able to finish the race without a stop but coming into Maggots and Beckets, putting my second lap on a backmarker, I clipped him, resulting in extensive transmission, engine and suspension damage.

So, with fresh tyres, a full tank of fuel and a fully repaired car I set out for the final 50 minutes of the race.

I completed 169 miles, after driving non-stop and got a fifth place finish. I received 60,000XP and 60,000 credits for doing the race but I climbed five levels and because I’m a VIP I got another 350,000 credits. Which I promptly spent building a BMW M5 drift car.

Overall, I really enjoyed the race, and I hope this is a taster for the return of offline endurance races missing from Forza 4 and Forza 5.

Good job. I also decided to do it yesterday morning as well, after watching Mechberg do it Friday night on Twitch. I normally don’t drive in higher car classes. Definitely didn’t practice that track with the E21 either.

So I set up my Thrustmaster TX Wheel with F1 Wheel add on. Went to controller settings & set my degrees of rotation to 330. After about 4 minutes of trying, I found a lobby with an eight min wait. There were 13 of us in the race at the start.

I was wondering how my Thrustmaster TX was going to do in a 1 hr 30 mins race. Off the bat I was holding 2nd for a few laps, but slowly dropped to 5th, as I was learning the track with the E21. The Vibration and FFB was strong on my Wheel till about the 47 min left mark.

That’s when the vibration stopped working. Now that is completely normal for the TX. I have vibration set to 70 & FFB set to 100. The fan inside the wheel had come on before the end of the first lap. However, to protect the 2 brushless motors on the inside, it dials back the effects when temperature really risies.

So for about 8-10 mins, I had no vibration & but my Force Feedback was fine. Then at the 37 min left mark, the vibration started to slowly come back. By the 29 min left mark, I was back to full vibration and FFB. Which lasted till the end of race with no change.

My tires had 70% wear by the 30 something left mark, but I didn’t pit. I kept going till 24 mins left then pitted. Car definitely wasn’t taking turns right no more. By the time there was 40 +minutes left in the race, I learned the track with E21. I don’t know my lap times, but I put more & more distance between me and the people behind me.

I finished the race in 3rd out of 9 racers that finished. I drove 170 miles, same as person in 2nd. First place drove 171 miles. I don’t remember the credits I got, but leveling up got me 280k bonus credits & put me at 505 level. The only problem I had was my left leg started to cramp from the long race from braking (14 mins left).

I truly enjoyed the experience and only got spun out once about halfway through. I was extremely happy/excited with how my Thrustmaster preformed. Can’t wait to do very long races on Project Cars ;).

I wish I did the long Ring race, but I didn’t bother. Had to try Silverstone after watching Mechberg do it. Definitely will do the next one!

I ran the 2:40 at Le Mans and never had my FFB cut off. I didn’t know it does that. But I only run with 60% FFB and Vibration at 80%. It was a blast running the F1 car at Silverstone. One of my favorite tracks for sure. Pitting was necessary for me (unfortunately) 3 times. The first time was for tires and the other two was because of incidents, one with another car and the other with an incident with my own car. When you’re driving those F1’s on the edge a tiny mistake can exponentially grow into a catastrophic one. Fortunately I managed to take the lead by lap 5-6 and kept it the entire time and completed 176 miles. Endurance racing is a blast but with those F1 cars it can be intense and draining. I cannot wait for the next one!

if you go to rivals or free practise mode and load up the leaderboards, your fastest lap time will be on there (providing you havent already done a faster lap before that event, but going by the sounds of it, it sounds like that was your first go in the E21 at Silverstone).

Congrats, you guys were lucky to find a troll free lobby. I did the The Ring Endurance and I was lucky to get a good crowd in there, there was a 3 car race for 2nd place right till the end of the last lap, awesome race! And I came 2nd, yey lol

My Force Feedback didn’t cut off, it was the vibration. That’s separate from Force Feedback. 2 different motors. You only using 60 force feedback keeps your internal temperature lower than mine, since I use 100 force feedback. Even though your vibration is 80 & mine is 70. My Force Feedback at 100 generates a lot more heat, which causes the vibration motor to be hotter, thus leading to less vibration (or no vibration) or less force feedback, till internal temp comes down. That is also stated in instructions of wheel or on their website. Can’t remember where I saw it, but it’s supposed to do that. People running lower settings might not get enough heat internally for it to do it. Just a safety feature to protect the motors.

Been quite lucky with endurance races so far, Le mans, good crowd, same for the Ring and Silverstone. However, i did’nt complete Silverstone. Hate the whole 1st turn smash scene, so pulled off on grass everyone went through the turn, so pulled back on track and got on with the race. 40 miles into it, the engine sound dissapeared from my car, all i could hear was the wind, crowds and other cars. 15 miles furthur in Forza crashed and i was sitting on the home screen. Did’nt have the heart to try again, thats life i guess.

I had the same issue, the engine sound came and went for me, but after about 110 miles.

I think I wound up with about 150 miles, would have had more if some troll with the word “Juggalo” in his GT wasn’t so consumed with wrecking me that he only completed 120 miles. Seriously, whose life is so pathetic that they choose to waste an hour and a half (or more) trying to ruin someone else’s race?

Aside from that one fool, it was a good bunch, everyone else raced clean. I lucked into starting 2nd, so I didn’t have to worry about running into a turn one mess, settled into a steady groove in 3rd after a couple slip ups until the loser took me out three times in a row, dropping me to 6th. I just rolled around at 9/10, not pushing too hard, but staying out of peoples’ way, keeping an eye out for a slow car ahead. The one perk was if I saw someone coming up from behind, I knew it wasn’t him, so I had no problem slowing a bit and moving over.

Did the race a couple of days ago. People kept crashing into me on purpose for no reason whatsoever… Went into pit and I pressed start, came out with my car still not fixed just because I pressed start… o.O I don’t get why people join lobbies just to crash into others. They seem to suck at racing.

You hit the nail on the head with your last comment

This was one of the best endurance hoppers I’ve ever done on Forza. We were able to get a room the was 90% friends. I’m sure that had something to do with it. We had a pretty large group and no wreckers.
I was in this amazing battle for position with another friend for the last 30 min of the race. Literally only a car length between is the whole time. With just 30 seconds left he made a pass on me to steal second. It was amazing.

I have to say the key to good racing is to do it with friends. I’m being a broken record here, but giving us the option to do this in a private lobby would be ideal. Instead of choosing circuit, drift or drag you could also add in special monthly hopper. The primary settings could be prepopulated with a few options like simulation or no collisions. Whatever makes sense.
