Just wondering if anyone knows why all the official videos, interviews, and conferences say September 30th but every store here in Australia is saying October 2nd?
Am I going to have to wait 2 extra whole days, or should I be expecting a call to pick my pre-order up early? (well release day is earlier than their advertised date down here!!!)
In the post-briefing interview with Ralph Fulton he mentioned that the release date is September 30 for the US and October 2 and 3 (or 4 or 5, I forget) in Europe and elsewhere.
If they have the reward available can’t you redeem it on here and have it waiting for you when you start playing? For example, I don’t have FM4, but the rewards I’ve redeemed include a lot of credits for FM4. So if I were to get a FM4 disc and start playing, would those rewards be waiting for me? Or would they be void?
Im also in Aus, Pre-ordered through EB Games. Wondering though, if I go digital and pre-load the game etc , will I get it for the 30th? Might cancel my physical copy if thats the case.
Hey there Playground Games, just wondering why you choose to crap on a fair chunk of your potential customers by staggering your release? FH2 is scheduled to release in Australia and Europe several days after the US and this sends a clear message that only your US customers are important to you.
It’s too late to fix your dubious decision now, so how 'bout you remember us in the future and treat us like the valued customers we are…we do actually pay for your product just like those in the US…actually we probably pay MORE than they do so really, WE should be getting the preferential treatment, but hey, I don’t expect to be special, just equal.
A lot of games do staggered regional releases. This is nothing new. Different parts of the world have their shipping and product release infrastructures setup up differently. In the US new media releases on Tuesdays. In Europe things usually release on Fridays. There have been games where Europe got them first on a Friday and the US didn’t get them til the following Tuesday.
While I agree that a staggered release sucks - you do realise that it works the other way around as well (Australia gets games before other countries on occasion).
And the developers are not likely to see this, and it is probably a publisher decision (Microsoft in this case).
Release dates are marketing decisions, based on the availability of the game (notice it just went “Gold” a few days ago?), production processes, shipping and advertising schedules for the retail markets. Now, fortunately, there are more available digital versions of games being released on Xbox One which we haven’t seen previously with the Xbox 360 system.
There are a whole lot of factors which the game producers (that’s Turn 10 and Playground Games) do not control. They produce the games, not marketing strategies.
The “it’s happened before so it’s ok” line is simply not good enough. If the companies involved (particularly Microsoft) truly want to move gaming towards a global, downloadable future as they claim then the whole staggered release thing has got to go.
It’s disappointing that devs and publishers that talk so much about the future of gaming are stuck in the past in regards to organising release schedules.
