Ok, so just a bit curious as to people’s thought process when joining a lobby. I’m not the best racer out there but better than most and when I join a lobby, I look at everyone’s level and do a quick assessment as to how challenging the race is going to be.
If all the other people in the lobby are lower levels than me, then I’ll use an average car as I’d get no satisfaction winning against low levellers in an OP car, it gives them at least a fighting chance. I’ll carry on doing this but you always get someone joining eventually that is a high level and straight away jump in their X-Bow’s and F50’s and will stay in them - no matter what.
So what are people’s opinions on this, do you just don’t care and you’ll use what you want, or will you give yourself a challenge and use your slowest car?
Levels cant be used as a judge of how good someone is, I came across a level 1669 and he SUCKED and a couple level 40’s i’ve raced are quick as (turns out they are second profiles)
I pretty much always run the GT Hopper now and for 5 cars they are mostly pretty evenly matched, I normally pick the Aston and go from there
True but I use them as a quick assessment when I first join the lobby. If they’re all low levels, I’ll experiment with a car I haven’t used much. If it turns out they’re skilled - I’ll then start to be more competitive.
peoples driver level and skill level are totally different things. low driver level means they havent played the game as much, not that they are less skilled. if schumaker buys fm5 he’s gonna come in level 1 just like everybody else, and even at level 1 he would eat our lunch. you see high level people that have very little skill. if they stick to a single car no matter what the track they are probably average. some cars are better on certain tracks. the best drivers who are going all out to win choose their car after the track has been chosen. i race mostly r class and i use about 5-6 cars at a given time so i have a car tuned for each track type. with the right tune you can beat “leaderboard” cars. if you have a magic tune that can win on every track my hats off to you.
I drive what I want to drive. But my.choice is not often to do with speed. It may be a new car I have tuned or a new paint I have downloaded. If it happens to be an F50 then I will drive it.
Having said that a lot of the lb cars do not interest me a lot.
Having done more than 30 manufacturers, I just run whatever comes next on the list. Then I get the affinity up to 25 and move on to the next 1. If I think someone thinks I’m rubbish in what I am driving, I just switch to something leaderboard and show them what I can do, then I just switch back and carry on.
I race what i want. If i win by miles, so be it. If i have a great race for 7th, so be it. My though process is pretty much the same as SatNiteEduardo. I race what car currently someone is tuning, or just released. I get bored of racing the same old cars over and over.
Sounds about right. I pick a car I want to paint, paint it and then tune 'er up and hope for the best. It only irks me when my car comes out of a race unrecognizable. I like to see my paint work in tact.
I usually just use the cars that I want to drive. Honestly almost any car in the game can be competitive, you just have to know how to tune it. I’m not out there breaking records, but I know I’m quick in this game and I joined an A class lobby a few nights ago with a guy using cars I would never consider a threat otherwise, and he curb stomped the lobby. It was brutal. AWD cars wiping the floor with usually more than a 2-3 second lap time gap (clean) between the closest runner up. My favorite part was when the AWD guy started near the back of the lineup on Silverstone Full in a Evo 6 and made his way up to 2nd very quickly, the guy in first (in a Lotus Exige S) watched him enter the corner they were both on and the Lotus just got out of the way, he came on the mic and just said that with the speed that Evo was taking those corners he didn’t stand a chance and it was better for both of them to just get the overtake over with.
I normally drive what I’ve recently tuned or sometimes pick a pretty random car thats fun to drive. If I’m in an exceptionally fast lobby I’ll make sure to pull out my best car for that track.
Don’t worry about what people think, drive what you like!
Everybody should drive what they want. If the “good” drivers get POed because they lose to a “bad” driver in an “unfair” car, why don’t they drive the "unfair"car and use their “skills” to “teach the “bad” driver a lesson.” It’s all silly, really. Have fun. Compete. If you don’t like it, go play checkers.
An example to try and explain what I mean more - I joined a lobby the other day (A Class No Collisions) and the vast majority where using KTM X-Bows, I didn’t fancy using mine or my F50 cos like people have said, I like to use different cars and get bored of using the same car all the time.
I win most of my races and very rarely do worse than 3rd in a full lobby. 10 races in and I’d not done better than 5th so I thought what the hell and got in my X-Bow (if you can’t beat them, join them). A new driver joined the lobby, made a comment about all the ‘noobs’ in the X-Bows and left, I felt cheap that I was in my X-Bow and judged as ‘one of those’ lol.
I generally use LB cars. Why? Because I’m trying to earn medals for the achievements and if I use a LB car, I’ll get at least a bronze more often than not. Fact is, people in MP are pretty darned good. Top 1% typically gets you middle of the pack.
I figure once I finish off the achievements, I’ll go away from LB cars and play around a little bit more. And, yes, I know some people like to ram LB cars. That’s why I race collision-off.
I usually use a car that’s new to me. At the minute it’s pendulum’s nsx but once I’ve leveled Honda I’ll change to something else. I’m not a great driver but Ive found is the car is nicely balanced I can handle the noobs and correct any first corner shenanigans to finish 3 rd or 4th. I don’t use leader board cars because I don’t know what cars are strong on what track etc and I’m not that fussed.
I think manners are more important, personally, than getting a great finishing place. I’ve long ago realised, my old reflexes, just ain’t up to the job does’nt stop me having great fun in this fantastic game .
I do, however dislike the " COD " mentallity of some, though. What’s the point, getting the hump and spoiling other peoples fun. Just lame. Lol, it would be cool if players could vote to put, permanent mud under offending players drive wheels.
