Forza Motorsport games have typically always targeted 7-10 minutes of racing in multiplayer.
Turn 10 likely have some PowerBI metrics that tell them that this is the sweet spot to keep people playing as long as possible and lobbies filling up quickly enough.
In Horizon games it’s 3 minutes.
I’d like to see more Medium/Long playlists in the rotation each week, simply to make pitstops viable. Short races are definitely fun but not all the time.
one of each of the two open class lobbies in rotation each week should be medium instead of both being short and one of the two spec series’ should be long imo.
Agreed with all the above, the short races are somewhat boring and dont add elements of unpredictability that could for sure engage the player more.
Tire wear effecting the cars, the tunes effecting the tyre wear, pit strategy and rogue weather elements to really mix it up will provide a serious level of immersion.
Ive really enjoyed the weather system and a few times its lead me to greatly increased positions due to the correct tyre strategy being utilised! But dont see it often being utilised enough!
Would be nice to see these in the single player career game as well. Running tire wear and pit strategy would be kinda cool for us offline racers in career mode.
I’ve a beef with GT races. They should be longer… at least double the length.
It’s so weird qualifying is stuck to 3 laps and some races are 4 laps in length?!
Le Mans, Daytona & Spa need to be around 6 laps min or ideally 8 - 12 laps. So you can make a difference with tyre compounds and the harsh falling off a cliff with them doesn’t happen within half a lap. You might actually get cars doing 2 or even 3 stoppers with soft, soft, soft. And you can actually under or overcut a car you’re fighting on track. It’s basically impossible to do this in GT atm.
It might be the unpopular decision as races may last too long as players might drop out. leaving a field of 6 cars in the end finishing. Which looks bad for T10. But I suspect you would get more players who actually play seriously keep with it. Then again T10 can just run more servers with hoppers… Mixing Long races with shorter ones. I would happily wait around getting a few short races in until I could join a longer race…
Fully agree on GT races. I am sure something has happened with GT races. You used to have to pit on most tracks if you run medium compound. Most tracks you had to pit once. Since the last update you seem to be able to do all tracks on either med or hard without needing to pit???
like, can you imagine being taken out at the dunlop chicane and having severe suspension, or even worse, engine damage, and needing to make it all the way back to the pits? that’d be a great way to make players who actually want to race just swear the game off, whereas rammers who are just out to ruin other people’s races would just leave the race and join another lobby to ruin.
damage is an absolutely terrible idea in this game with this playerbase.
I agree about the fairness, but it would/could take the rammers out for the rest of the race, giving some kind of penalty to them… Right now there is no penalty at all for them. I’m just thinking, that if the rammer’ “fun” keeps getting cut short, is MIGHT become less fun for them
it won’t. people who just want to smash into people don’t care about things like player rank, they’ll just leave once they have too much damage to catch up and hit anyone, and join another lobby and do it all again.
also think about tracks like nurburgring, where one single rammer can take out like 5 people turn 1 as it is. now imagine that those 5 people also have catastrophic damage to their cars on lap 1 of 8 or whatever. again, the rammer won’t care, but those other 5 people who did nothing wrong will have gone from a pretty crappy race start if damage was not on, to a total waste of time of a race to even stay in because they’d need to limp all the way back around to the pits, losing potentially minutes in the process, and taking a huge blow to their rank which, unlike the rammer, they might actually care about.
damage being enabled is a terrible idea. the actual answer is to do what horizon 5 does: ghost all cars for thr first 30 seconds, and then auto ghost when a huge speed difference is detected. like, it is not a good solution from a ‘simulation’ standpoint, but it’s better than nothing, and way better than the absolutely godawful penalty system we are stuck with now.
Sorry that’s not a reason… Forza 7 GT hopper had damage. And most of the time it was ok.
And I thought the whole safety rating system was meant to segregate the drivers who see punting as the norm than the drivers that are not tail gaiting muther heffers …
You cannot say all players have short attention spans.
Frankly T10 have screwed up the whole game if so.
Being qualifying lasts as long as the race and if you have a setup … you pump in a time when the track conditions are the best and then just do something else’s for the rest of qualifying like watch tv…
I mean what’s the point of the safety class system then… to clean up racers that want to race and ones that don’t.
Either it works or it doesn’t.
GT should have damage enabled as it’s technically one of the more serious hoppers that is meant to be sim like.
It’s just very arcade atm
Forza 7 had the problem of lapped cars not being ghosted which they fixed as it lead to trolls just taking cars out.
Damage enabled is a no brainer. Especially both cars are affected. The penalty for side swiping is way higher for the car being hit. You would think twice if you damage your own car trying it.
Forza’s problem has always been its never taught drivers to respect car space awareness. And the proximity arrows are still a joke.
If they fixed that the game would be infinitely better
That’s a more arcade than sim solution, and there is nothing wrong with that… I was just attempting to approach things from a more sim mindset, which admittedly may not be the correct thing for Forza.
