Same exact thing happened to me w/ Forza Motorsport 7. Still haven’t bought this game and don’t intend to until it’s not missing the only mode I play.
It’s just egregious to me that they’d say “drift and drag lobbies won’t be available at launch” and here we are HOW many months and 5 updates later and we still don’t have them.
The developer once again is being completely tone deaf. I got banned from the forums circa fm7 for dropping a simple F Bomb, instead of that F Bomb being considered as “gee, maybe we’re not doing all we can to make our consumers happy”.
As a paying customer, regardless of their demeanor, that’s not how you should act as a company. They wouldnt fare well working retail at all. They seem to have no concept of empathy what so ever.

Please bring back open drift meetup/ lobbies
i started drifting in FM5 and i loved it. ive been drifting in 6 and 7 a lot and spending insane amounts of time building my cars/tunes. i also enjoyed normal circut racing aswell but mostly drifting. i recently bought the new motorsport game and was very sad to find out there are no drift lobbies. PLEASE Turn10 give us drifting lobbies back. 
100% agree. Such a let down. Even just add drift scoring in general would be a start. They add a drift camera but no score 
whoever signed off on that needs to go back to special school!
It’s been a year. Worst launch ever. Still haven’t played the game and won’t be doing so until this has been rectified
I am not a drift fan, but I thought one of the things about FM was the wide range of things you could do. Drift/Drag racing should be in. Drag racing is even in on FH5 and you can get drift scores. Given FMs better physics than FH, it would only make sense for those to be in here too.

I know others have suggested this, but a search shows it has not been posted lately, so I apologize if I sound like a broken record but please bring back public drift lobbies.
Personally, I have been a fan of racing games since the Super Nintendo and as the years when on I quickly became a huge fan of the Forza Motorsports series. I have owned and played every game since Motorsports 2 and while in the beginning I was playing as a traditional racer, around Motorsports 4 I almost exclusively participated in online drift races. The Horizon series is fun in its own right and I have owned 4 out of 5 entries in that list, but in my opinion nothing beats building/tuning a car and throwing it sideways on an actual race track populated with other people who love the same. I would spend hours, days using the test drive feature to tweak and tune cars for drifting online. The community and friends I met through online drift lobbies are priceless and some of the most fun I have ever had while playing a video game.
I pre-ordered the latest Motorsport entry even knowing public online drift lobbies would not be available, but was hoping they would be added. If not then ‘Hey, maybe I’ll try traditional racing’. I understand I probably do not represent the majority or “core” Motorsport players but for me with no online drift lobbies I have only put 13 hours into the latest Motorsports game and like I mentioned, I preordered the game. Compared to the tens of days I have spent playing Motorsports 6. It is very upsetting to see a game that I have supported for nearly two decades remove a race mode and prevent me and the rest of the community from enjoying something we truly loved doing. I have paid for every game, and more often than not, I have pre ordered the Premium Edition, and I will gladly continue to support the franchise if you’ll have me and support me and the rest of the drift community in return. I really hope to one day load up Forza Motorsports, hop into a online drift lobby, and to once again be reunited with my people.
…and here we are still?
I just re-installed to give this game another spin in hopes that, after 2 years, there would be a public drift playlist that I could join now. I saw people (finally) able to drift with others online in videos so thought now was the time. Well now I realize that they were probably just in private lobbies with each other.

Public drift lobbies are most likely coming in update 20 with the possibility of Fujimi kaido . Not confirmed just a prediction
