"Project Cars"? on Xb1

This was my comment on that Facebook post.

With Microsoft doing the June XDK giving developers access to 10% more GPU on Xbox One. We can expect it to be 1080p right? Like PS4.

I noticed you said WiiU was going to be 30fps, which is fine for the WiiU. However, will both Xbox One & PS4 both be running at 60fps? Care to fill us in Hobbs Project CARS (Community Assisted Race Sim)

This was the response to my comment.

Project CARS (Community Assisted Race Sim)
The intention is for 60fps, though the resolution is up in the air at the moment since it’s impossible to know how optimization will affect performance on new consoles

-Hobbs

This was my response to their comment.

I don’t have to have 1080p resolution on the Xbox One. 900p or whatever higher than 720p is fine. I do need it to be 60fps to be happy & buy Project CARS (Community Assisted Race Sim)

@Andy23O8: @WMDCars Will the seat position in the cockpit view be adjustable? If yes, only on pc or on console versions too?” Yes, all.

Well folks. It’s official, as you can see from the tweet. Adjustable seats in cockpit view on Project Cars!! This game will rock!

I might have given in to the HYPE train surrounding Project CARS…

I am going to do my best to calm down and not to expect the best SIM ever with this title. If it turns out to be that good, then I will enjoy the plesent surprise. If not, then I won’t pull my hair out in frustration over it.

One thing bothers me about the game. Where are the Xbox One screen shots and videos?

It is a PC game first and is still in alpha.

I am also in on the hype, so much so that I have a grand in PC parts sitting here and just waiting on stuff to go on sale to get the rest.

I bought a case for a PC build. I am saving up to buy all the parts I will build my rig with. I do plan on getting it on PC, mostly because I already have a wheel and pedal set that is compatible, and tripple screens can be had easily with the PC. No system link/LAN Tom-foolery. Just plug the monitors into the graphics card, change a few settings and go.

That and Oculus looks like it is a natural fit with Racing titles.

Here is the most recent car list. Some are still being worked on. And as you can see they are mostly race built cars. No need for upgrading or a terrible PI system. Just tuning and racing.

I’m keeping the jets cooled.

This comment sums of that video perfectly:

“15 minutes of schizophrenia that basically fits into a age old wisdom of keeping your head cool, obtaining knowledge instead of getting high on emotions to prevent yourself from harming people around you…”

Is the game gonna be good? Yes. Is it going to reinvent the wheel? No. Is it trying to reach a larger crowd by releasing a true sim to consoles? Yes.

Just cause some guy with a good amount of Youtube followers tells us its not gonna be quite as good to him as iRacing doesn’t mean its not gonna live up to its hype. Also I don’t know what hype there actually is for pCARS cause I have not seen anything other than just people hoping it does well.

Fair enough.

First of all, let me say that I’m not really up-to-date with the latest news about Project CARS. So maybe I’ll say something wrong or that was already answered or that will be changed/fixed in the future builds. Anyway, here a list of my doubts:

  1. Physics: I’ll have to try it in person to check how good It is compared to Forza. Hopefully SMS will release a demo.

  2. Sounds: Some times they’re far from being realistic to be honest. I remember watching some videos of the MP4-12C and of the Zonda Cinque. They weren’t as clean as in FM5. I’ve been told they were placeholders but that remains a big ? in my books.

  3. Career/events: Will cars be strictly matched to their rivals from the same era/series/championship or what? An example: 320 Gr.5 vs Capri Gr.5 and that’s it? Or there will be more freedom?

  4. Classes/PI: is there anything similar to that in Project Cars?

  5. Upgrades: Anything else other than tyres compound and air/boost restrictors?

  6. Cars: Will every car announced so far be available at launch? Because several were announced but still yet to be seen at the moment.

edit, 7. Framerate: I remember they said they were aiming for 60 FPS but that wasn’t set in stone.

That’s all for the moment. Thanks to anyone who will answer (or try to) my questions.

I’ll try to answer as much as I can from the knowledge that I’ve collected as ive been trying to follow pCARS pretty closely.

  1. I heard that the physics are just gonna fall short of AC and iRacing, i’d say that is a pretty good feat as this is also going to be a console game
  2. Sounds were placeholders for a long time, Also I think their aim was to go over the top just a little bit, kinda like War Tapes sound setting from the BF series.
  3. Career is broken up into actual racing series’. Ala GT3, P1, F1, Carting, Group 5, Different spec racing ect ect. You will be able to set up custom race weekends though.
  4. No need for a PI system as the cars are mainly going to represent group racing like the couple I stated above.
  5. No need for upgrades as these cars are 90% purpose built race cars.
  6. So far as I know, the cars announced are the cars that will be in the game at launch. I know for sure that the Indycar’s will be DLC but rumored to be a free update.
  7. It IS going to be 1080p and 60 FPS on PS4 and I wouldn’t doubt if its the same on XB1

I think too many people are trying to compare pCARS to Forza and GT. They are all driving games, yes. But pCARS is trying to aim to be a Race based sim.

Aiming for, not solid @ 60fps yet on PS4.

I just hope the physics engine is worthy of the hype this game is getting.

I liked the updated track list in Shift 2 and I think all of that and more is in Project Cars. I just hope the physics engine has no reliance on anything in Shift 2 though.

It has none. This is a huge misconception. You have to remember SMS made RACE07, GTR, GTR2 FIA GT Racing game, ect ect when they were then SimBin. Those were HUGE sims that are still played today.

I have heard different stories regarding the physics. The proof will be in the pudding.

Anything you’ve heard, including my opinion doesn’t matter cause not finished.

Yep.

I will be getting the game. I will get any racing game on the One since there are not many.

The handling will be the key in my opinion to Forza killer versus being just another game.
