There was this game called Project Cars 3, it came after Project Cars 2. Project Cars 2 was very popular and tried to be a proper simulator, it lacked in some aspects like tire physics but the fans loved it, it was the entry point for many novice sims racers. With success Dev decided to make a sequel and target arcade racers market and created Project Cars 3. The Arcade racers found it too hard, the Sim Racers found it too arcade, it gave progression, one car at a time, gamers rated it uninstall and refund. It atleast had full steering animation.
Was actually talking about FM8
yes AMS2, PC2, rF2 while we wait for AC2
The stability of AC and iRacing are incredibly, they are masterpiece in Engineering, never ever crashed. FM7 still gives me nightmares.
I think they have figured out some fixes, when FH4 launched on steam it was a crashfest, in a few month they made it stable, same with FH5. I think by Jan 2024 FM8 too will be stable enough to play.
With the same theme in mind, I loaded Forza Motorsport 6 back up and gave it a spin just now. Really, with some noticeable graphical issues aside, it’s holding up very well. The sound is Tier 1 whether you drive with just engine noise or run that lovely orchestral soundtrack as well, the physics feel quite nice for being an eight-year-old game (I wouldn’t call them particularly realistic now, but they feel like what you would expect each individual car to feel), and man is it nice to drive against AI that isn’t a complete idiot…some of the time, anyway. Really, the only complaint I have against it now is, frankly, the obvious one - it’s an eight-year-old game and time has moved on in the graphics department, for better or worse. It’s not painful to look at (usually), but it is distracting at times.
That’s funny, I had some sort of Project CARS 3 déjà vu too when I was watching the recent gameplay demo
However, I find PC3 to be a very enjoyable simcade game. I adore its physics and cars/tracks roster so much that I keep it on my PC since 2020 and play it casually every now and then to complete another daily/weekly/monthly Rivals event. It was just very poor sequel to Project CARS 2
Yep, exact same feeling here. HOw PC3 watered down the whole experience, that’s exactly how I feel about Forza Motorsport Premium Edition at the moment: A watered down “this will do” experience.
Graphics are not there.
Car audio is not there.
Physics are good.
You think FM is too advanced for arcade racers? FM7 was much more difficult. FM is imo the best feeling forza after FM4 came out. i could say it is on the same level if not better. if you dont like the game dont play. Game is on gamepass and it will be very well populated.
Check the date of post.
I played that game for awhile. It was the only one of the Project Cars series I actually found to BE playable.
I just downloaded the demo of pc2 and just wow! I am blown away. The engine sounds sound so realistic, shifting, engine start after you stall it, hydroplane on puddles on the track. Tuning on each tire and corner of the car… man if only Forza had this…
Not to thrilled with the way the controller feels too sensitive or something. Trying some Reddit dead zones I just searched.
pCARS 3 should have had another name, they destroyed the franchise with that game, later on Ian Bell said he wanted to call it something else but EA had already taken over. Anyway I too liked some aspects of pCARS 3 such as tyre lettering options, premade liveries with adjustable number and last but not least, the hybrid upgrade option that would turn a FWD Civic Type R into a 4WD monster.
It also had Portimao, SUGO, Zolder, Snetterton, Cadwell Park and Fuji day one.
I wish pCARS was still around, if only to push the genre on consoles.
Having said all that, I don’t think FM is going through the identity crisis pCARS did.
If ea took over pcars well that ruined that… they don’t care about any feedback.
Idk man, NFS Unbound, EA WRC and GRID Legends are all good games. I think F1 also has good reputation.
I probably should have said the late 90s early 2000s ea sports in the Redwood City California area didn’t care. Sent them so many game ideas and stuff and not even a thank you or a reply.
I agree grid legends is a nice game and I see a lot of good feedback about the wrc and the f1. Not to struck about the nfs series controller mapping just wasn’t good enough for dad and I to enjoy. If I do have to play a game I atleast like to have my throttle and brake on the right joystick and steer with the left joystick, just something idk dad got me used to many years ago. I disliked games driving with a button. Go from 0 throttle to 100. Not very enjoyable like that. I do wish they’d do some justice for the old nfs games man they were really something back in the day and the iconic cop chases, the remastered hot pursuit could use some work cars handle like boats. I wished they have an update for grid legends so I could use my g923 steering wheel on it. Keeps me from fully enjoying the game. But anyways. Guess I’ll stop rambling on now.
