Horrible carPG system (system has to be removed, it’s self explanatory)
Horrible CPU performance on PC (doesn’t take advantage of multithreading & is single threaded)
Horrible Sound (Transmission is too loud, and it sounds like you are in a tunnel, if next to tiny wall)
Horrible AI (self explanatory)
Horrible menus, hud and other things
Horrible career mode it’s like there isn’t a career mode
Horrible long loadtimes if downloading tunings & liveries
Game is unstable
Same car models from years ago
Not enough race tracks
Can’t switch transmission from 5 gears to 6 gears or 8 gears to 6 gears etc.
As far as i can tell more downforce doesn’t make cornering better it’s like it only makes cars slower
There are no real water puddles so no real aquaplaning anymore like in FM7
Multiplayer is a wreckfest
There is no wind, all trees and bushes are completely static even while rainstorms, same with the balloons, it’s like they are also completly static
Helicopters are dissapearing right in front of the player and there are unrealistic airships (zeppelins) all over the place
Forza Edition cars have no meaning, you don’t earn more credits or something with them like in previous Forza games
The performance balance of the cars is bad, cars with better handling are always better than cars with higher performance, you can add performance to the better handling cars but can’t add handling to the cars with better performance, because of that better handling cars are always the meta
In general the game looks good
The dynamic weather is halfway decent (but no water puddles anymore…)
The dynamic day & night is great
The car physics is at least halfway decent
The car selection is okay
Damage model is halfway decent
There are more cons than pros that is for sure. In it’s current state i would rate it 3.5/10 not any better. The game is playable sure, but not very enjoyable. it feels more like a chore if playing the game, a game shouldn’t feel like a chore.
I am PC Steam Version player and play with X-Box Series X Controller.
I spend most time playing singleplayer or rivals.
I only played FM6 Apex, FM7 and FH3, 4 and 5 before FM2023, all of them on PC.
4.5
It has its moments, the core activity (driving) works well but the rest is subpar, in parts even simply awful (I learned to hate the menu. Just let me select a car as always).
Overall below average.
This poll should be per platform, since the current overall experience is so different on console vs pc. I have no idea what the current experience is on pc.
The bones are there, but it’s just that, bones. It’s like walking into a house that’s still under construction. You can see the potential for something great here, but it’s a year’s worth of labor away. It’s a shame that this game wasn’t delayed a year or released as early access with a discount. Reception of the game would have been a lot more positive.
I’m playing GamePass because this game is included.
But lets pretend GamePass didnt exist and I was just a regular Joe wanting to play the game.
I would have waited for reviews (user and site), videos, hands on opinions, and done my research.
100% would not have bought this game.
I have bought the past 4 Forza games.
Combine the stupid car leveling system with the crappy AI and largely unimpressive upgrade to graphics and its just not worth my hard earned cash.
The game itself is a 2. The way it’s been handled, both before and after release, has been a solid 1. Averages out to about a 2, which is what I chose.
Any game that not only makes you pine for older entries but also consider the cost-benefit analysis of resurrecting said older entries is one that has certainly failed the objective. Motorsport 2023 brings far too little to the table to justify or even mask everything else it purposefully omits, and then fails to do justice to what it does bring through poor execution and design choices. It’s the kind of project that completely justifies all of the “Remastered” games we’ve had come out in recent years, and that’s exactly what needs to happen here, because the current project simply can’t live up to expectations.
The list of improvement from my POV over FM7
Tyre compound.
Dynamic weather on all tracks.
Didn’t have to buy it. (Game pass)
More free time to engage in other hobbies
5/10 gameplay is good but single player career is a joke shorter than my hair and in bald obviously T10 don’t think they need a career mode I’m thinking that aspect isn’t going to change
I think without changing anything about features. fixing all of the technical issues, as well as the borked lighting system that makes half the game look like its 15 years old. Basically getting it into the technical state it should have been at launch, minus the features that were inadequately delivered as advertised like AI and penalties. Would bring it to a 6/10.
The game may have the best physics out of all the Forza Motorsport games released so far, it also is dripping with nothing but lack of passion from developers. From playing the game, it shows that making it was simply a task to be completed. There is nothing that shows that anyone who made this game, cared beyond the paychecks they received during its development.
The grindy build-level-dominate loop comes across as a last-minute direction change for the game play. The choice to use grey drab backgrounds or no rolling time of day in the home garage screams that this was slapped together. The slow rollout of tracks from the previous installment of Forza Motorsport complete with the same typos and non-sensical pit exits just shows that the improvements are checklist driven. This game screams “We Don’t Care” louder than any first party AAA game has ever done. It is insulting that they charged $70 for the base game. At no point is this game anything more than an early access grade racer.
I hope Turn 10 can turn the game around. I really do… But for now, the game is a big fat F. I cannot recommend it, and if it weren’t for my compulsiveness, I wouldn’t have played it for as much as I have. On that, I am going back to playing RaceRoom and AMS2. I’ll check in with FM when things have finally improved, and I’ll give it another go then.
I’m surprised more hasn’t been made of the disparity between pre-release promises and the actual state of the game.
This lack of accountability in the gaming industry only adds to the frustration and disappointment for consumers who feel deceived and left without any proper recourse, especially when the promises made in marketing materials don’t match up with the actual product.
There’s little wonder why some feel anger and a sense of betrayal and disappointment towards Turn10.
you forgot to add - worst performance balance ever in racing game history. its all about handling speed builds dont work so heavy power saloons from usa or germany are there for nothing in the game
