All of my racing game friends have now brought H2 many of them walked away from forza after forza 4 but are now enjoying horizon 2 for completely different reasons, also a few lads from work who have been patiently waiting for project car’s have picked up a copy of horizon 2 and none of these people have any intention of playing Forza 5.
Yet most of the guys I know prefer sim style racing games hence waiting for PCars but are enjoying H2 because of its fun factor.
Do you think Horizon is bringing in a new audience that would have otherwise turned there back on forza?
I still hate the arcade physics, though. It sucks the life out of the cars. Cars like the Lamborghini Huracan are especially dull, when they should be really exciting.
The only car that’s pretty much immune is the Volkswagen Beetle. It’s so slow and predictable in Forza 5 that it feels more or less the same in Horizon 2, despite the ridiculous grip, because it’s the soft suspension and the bodyroll that makes it fun.
Actually, the Volkswagen Beetle is quite a bit more exciting than than the Lamborghini Huracan in this game.
I don’t find the Huracan dull, but then I haven’t driven one in real life. I’m assuming you have however, and are basing your excitement level on your personal experience behind the wheel seeing as Horizon 2 is currently the only video game to feature this car.
No, I’m saying that it, along with most supercars in Horizon 2, are very boring to drive in the game. They have way too much grip, which makes them so easy to drive that they aren’t fun.
I haven’t driven it in real life, but here, with the speed that it takes corners, it feels like I’m driving an F1 car in FM5.
I’ve never had it lose any grip. At all. Ever. It feels like it’s going 30 MPH, instead of 130. There’s no need to use any throttle control, because there’s never a time outside of braking (which is very rare) where you shouldn’t be going full-throttle. This applies to pretty much every supercar I’ve driven in the game so far, besides the Ultima GTR and the Koenigsegg (which feel like most supercars in Forza 5.)
You do realise that super cars in real life have more grip than portrayed in forza motorsport 5, I’ve done a good few track days in some pretty fast cars Inc a 458 and these cars have a lot more grip than experienced in forza motorsport.
I owned a RX7 for many years and in Forza 5 it felt un weighted and grip less almost like driving on ice in Horizon this isn’t the case with out assistance the car feels more on par with its real life counterpart, lively yes but not prickly like in F5.
I’m curious what super cars have you driven in real life inorder for you to run a comparison?
Seriously if you think super cars in real life are grip less and brake less like most are portrayed in F5 your wrong.
People seem to think the harder a car is to control the more “sim” it is, this is not the case.
I’d say so. FH2 is designed to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. Every time I go online, I meet at least 1 person who’s NEVER played a car game, but picked this one up. I’ve played dozens, but I can’t think of one that matches H2 for Fun Factor.
Certainly more people from other forums seem to have an interest in this game but also because “The Crew” and “Driveclub” is spoken about on those forums and the consensus is that FH2 offers the most fun per $ (so far).
I went from 30+ friends on FM5 to 60+ friends now with FH2 so for me personally I seen a 100% increase in players. Then again, my club now exceeds 200 players most of which I never even seen/played in FH2.
I also wouldn’t say the high end cars are dull to drive either, this is why I personally think people are being drawn to the game, put all the assists on and you have a full on fun arcade racer but turn those assists off and these cars really come alive and some are a right handful.
I think playground got the physics bang on considering the style of game, at one end of the spectrum you have fun fun fun and at the other end you have a more serious racer for those that want that.
