Driving physics

Does anyone know if the cars physics are going to improve? At least “feel” more like FM5 and less arcadey?

I just hope they’re suiting for the spirited long distance drives I’m going to be doing in luxurious grand tourers such as the Continental GT Speed.

Well, the Xbox One version is running off of the Forza Motorsport 5 platform; so, we’ll just have to wait and see what that means for the physics.

No it’s not. It’s running on the FM5 Graphics Engine. Nothing about has been said about the physics or the game code.

I don’t see the term “graphic engine” anywhere in here:

Fair enough; but, it is posted as an ‘update’ to previously released information. Still, Forza Motorsport’s official Twitter news feed does not use the term “graphic engine”. I suppose we’ll learn more about the physics aspect shortly.

That’s probably because twitter is limited to the amount of characters they can use to post information.

This is true. I’ve added the question regarding physics to MotorworldHype’s Q&A thread. If it doesn’t get mentioned in E3 reveals, maybe we’ll have an answer during the interview session.

If I recall FH1 had FM4’s physic engine but deliberately dumbed down to a more arcadey level. At the time I didn’t care for it in some ways because I hadn’t played many arcade racers for a while but having played more since I really appreciate the balance I feel they struck with FH1. I’m hoping it’ll be like that this time, I think making it a bit more forgiving isn’t unreasonable, although I wouldn’t mind the full blown FM5 handling model either.

I think it’ll really just depend on whether the “tuning” is there in FH2. I don’t see how they wouldn’t use Forza 5’s physics engine if they are seriously going to include detailing tuning options.

Im thinking the same.

It might not be easy mode like in FH1 where the cars drove themselves practically. Might be a dumbed down version(loosely put) of FM5 physics but with a bit more difficulty than the prior FH game. Else, tuning would be rather pointless.

Hope this time around when you get hit by another car you don’t end up flying halfway across the map. If they use the same physics as FM5 hopefully all will be well.

I really hope they keep the driving mechanics from FM5, Ive been waiting for a free roam car game with realistic driving for so long i will be so dissapointed if they arcade like handling

Me too!!! I guess there’s more of a market for arcade style racing games i guess. I was really hoping for a very realistic open world racing game. I think the last game that was kind of real was The Dual Test drive back in 1989. Forza Horizon is the car version to NFL Blitz. It would be awesome if Forza 5 added some open road courses with traffic. How cool would it be to take my cars that I race on the track and drive them on the Highway for a cruise or try to out run the Highway patrol when caught speeding. Also, drifting in Forza 5 is very rewarding when you’ve learned how to master it.

They said the same thing last time, and Horizon felt almost nothing like Forza 4.
“Powered by the same best-in-class handling engine and physics system” doesn’t mean the handling will be the same.
