I’m now edit that post a bit…ok…completely. …lol
If chosen the wrong title. I should have wrote bad setups because in general I like the fm6 physics. My main problem is that I cant tune the cars in endurance events. Everybody has it’s own driving style and I felt upset that I should drive hours with a car that don’t support my driving.
In general I think the issues with turn into corners are curable with some setup tunes.
So sorry for the title
I would recommend if you are using a controller, turn off “simulation” steering if you’re using it. Simulation steering is intended for people who use a wheel, not a controller.
With normal steering the cars feel like arcade cars. And most of the very well driveable with simulation. The issues that some cars have a behaviour thats very strange. How will you explain that cars on slow speeds in corners oversteer with pad and wheel. It’s seems that some cars have no grip. Are car with racesliks doesn’t oversteer at 30 mp in corner. When I can tue the cars for the showcase events I would live with it. How do you explain that the two peugot 908 hdi drive total different. Even if the one car is 2 years older the cars shouldn’t drive that different. Same with the cockpitviews. It seems to mean different persons setup the cars for the game and no one checks if everthing is ok.
I autocross and do track days every summer. I can assure you that there are plenty of cars that will oversteer at 30mph if you let off the brake too abruptly mid-corner or get greedy with the throttle. My 2013 FRS did it all the time and my 2010 Camaro SS is even worse.
I see your point about cars feeling “arcade-like” with steering set to “normal” but that is purely your point of view from your perspective.
For the record, I have used “simulation” steering and a game pad since simulation steering was made available in FM4 and it does make correcting oversteer more challenging. The trade off is that the steering is more responsive and quick for tight corners and chicanes. Since I have reverted back to using “normal” in FM6.
I think it’s important to remember that this isn’t real and it is a game that is using mathematical physics rules that try to approximate real cars in real situations. This is no small task and I personally think that T10 has done a great job as always. Is it perfect, no. But if you want “perfect”, enroll in a HPDE course and take a car around a track for real.
Scott im agreed with you and I will give normal steering a second chance. But it feels that’ it cut to juch from the physics. But after all I think turn 10 have to test more. Some cars are really hard to drive like the 370 Z or some of the GT Cars.
FM5 physics were much better. I agree that there should be an option to tune the car before starting an endurance race in the showcase mode. Tyre pressure, brake pressure, aero etc. I hate the stock tunes! I always change tyre pressure and brake pressure if it’s adjustable.
