Hey. To me it seems almost all cars I’ve driven so far have a very heavy tendency towards oversteering. Some of the track toys or the V8 super cars are almost undriveable with simulation steering and a gamepad. Former Forza games all were great when driving with a pad, even F5. This is not fun. Anybody else having this impression?
Putting TCM or SCM isnt the answer, the games mechanics are way over exaggerated with the lift off over steer,
Ive done plenty of track days to know this is way over done, is good that they have implemented it into the game but they do need to turn it down alot, i get lift of over steer at 20mph, i drove the V8’s at bathurst and it was a nightmare, every car in every corner has it, and the tires get to hot way too quick aswell
Ive learnt to control it without the need for electronics but it still needs to be nurfed alot
This is what I’m running into. I can deal and adjust to oversteer cause by a heavy foot, but no throttle oversteer is ridiculous. Especially when I watch AI cars turn sharper at the same or higher speed and don’t suffer the same fate.
I’ve been using Simulation Steering with my Controller for over a year now and it works fine for me. I made the change after reading this article (http://www.usgamer.net/articles/forza-5-assists-guide-handling-tips-and-achievement-list) and it works GREAT with the Controller, as a matter of fact the article recommends Simulation Steering for controllers.

Downgrade to Normal if necessary, but you really should be learning to play the game with Simulation steering. It gives you complete control of the car, and avoids occasional weirdness like when you’re trying something unconventional that the game thinks is a mistake and then attempts to correct.
If you’re having trouble with steering, be gentler with your inputs. Forza has exceptionally detailed joystick controls, and waggling from side to side violently will unsettle the car. As does over-correcting (applying opposite lock on the joystick if you’re sliding). Try to remember that you don’t have to use the full lock of the joystick all the time – particularly along straights to correct your line. Be smooth and consistent with your movements, and your car will act the same. "
It will vary from person to person. The average user is not as precise as can be for what is needed for simulation steering, so even in the menu’s it urge’s less experienced players to use normal steering. For those with the know how, I’ve heard good things form Simulation on pad, especially concerning turn-in.
agreed, sim steering is for wheels as the sim steering does a full lock 1:1 and its just not easy to control with a controller. However normal steering feels like the stability control is on as its too easy to drive fast.
That’s completely untrue. I’ve used it with a controller ever since they introduced in it FM4 and it’s perfectly fine if you set deadzones and just use controlled input. It’s actually really rewarding once you have control of it. Just sayin’…
It seems fine to me, and my only driver assists is non-clutch manual and brake lines (gimme some slack, haven’t played Forza since FM2 XD).
Most oversteer problems can be relayed to Acceleration differential on stock settings. Just about every car is set up for massive oversteer in the tune set up, so you have to play around in the tune settings to get it to behave.
Only played a couple hours so far, but I’ve had an entirely different experience from you all. Using a controller, normal steering had me over and understeering- depending on throttle state mostly- and sliding all over the place like the dampening is all out of whack. With simulation I was at least able to keep it generally pointed where I wanted it to go.
Hm. Played FM5 completely with pad and simulation. No other assist because I felt having more control and really enjoyed the challenge. But this… Thanks anyway. I may give normal steering another try, but I don’t like stability control. Why not implement a challenging steering setting for pad users?
I find that throttle control is super sensitive, but the controller doesnt have the same range. Hard to explain. It seems like the throttle jumps from about 30 to 60% without much in between, imo.
Yes, I find them to have way too much oversteer. Even cars that should be completely planted seem to snap around with even the slightest steering input, even on slow corners, just not right.
I think there should be a sensitivity setting for the pad so that people can set how they want the sticks to react on the controller because I think that is a lot of the issue.
I’ve always felt Forza was a little too tail happy with their cars, but this one is the worst and I’m having trouble tuning it out of many cars that I could in the past.
I agree Forzas have been a bit too tail happy - but so far i’m finding Forza 6 easier than Forza 5. But I’ve still only done some of the earlier career races so far.
