People intentionally and unintentionally ramming

So… After initially figuring out wheelsettings, geting used to remap buttons and pedals every time I start Forza - I actually enjoy multiplayer racing. Been mostly racing in Spec touring. But what is it with people? Crashing…

There are two different kind of crash. Intentionally and unintentionally. Some times you just break too late, or (since this is a one monitorgame) maybe you didnt know that someone was on your side. This happens. Its racing. But what I dont get in this game is that allmost everytime someone crashes into you - mistake or not - they keep the pedal to the metal… Just plowing on. If you crash… or see someone in front crash, let go of the gas, maybe even use the break. Then … its all the rammers. intentionally crashing.

Was in a race now, had to quit when one lap left. Why? Well starting p2 at Spa, in the rain. Comming into t1… I go wide, because i didnt want to hit p1 who starts on the right side, and didnt want the behind to hit me… Still someone comming from miles back. Ram into me and I fly off. Then im p17 - last - and when i get back to track im 20 seconds behind p16… After a lap I catch up. Going past - then get rammed again. half lap later agin i catch up. Now its a guy that bee off the road, getting back on track, into me. Instead of letting gas go when he hits me he continues to throttle like im not in front of him. So I get t boned out again. … The lap after i again catch up. Get past two guys. Racing behind a guy for some time, to get to a good passingspot. (dont like to divebomb and crash out other) Guess what happens when I passing him on the straight? Wel he ramms right into me And off I go again… I was fighting for p12…p12 … Geez.

I started with 4780 something in skill and safety S. Been on S all the time. Im now (before this race) 4500… At nearly top skilled lvl in forza, you should expect that people could race… at least a bit…

I think much of the problem is the ai (lets just call it the A, no i) In singleplayer your opponents drives like xxxx so if you are not used to online racing (simracing) maybe you think this is ok, this is the way to beat other racers. But its not. Learn the track, get faster. And if you are in a lobby, and not the fastest one, the possibility that there are 3-5 of your skill is pretty high, race them instead of bashing out people to get to fight for podium. That time will come.

In iracing I usally somewhere between podium and p10. Depends off course on the lobby/split. And if top 3 is racing a second faster than me a lap. I know that i will not beat them as long as they stay on track. But the guy in front of me, and behind me, they are the same as me, then i start racing them, for good clean fun racing.

Sorry to say but something has to change, Eighter people in forza need to learn how to behave or T10 redo their skill level system. If 5000 is top, max… then maybe noone should start higher that 1500 after initial race?? So there are some space to go on… Or maybe take away that cap… Now people like me, at skill 4700 can come in a room with people that should have 10.000… I dont know what is easiest, getting t10 to change or people.

It’s inclusive and non-denominational.

I think this gets better when more people get into the multiplayer and the system gets more people to pull from. I’m not nearly as good as you. Skill level around 2000 and safety rating A. I have stopped ramming (I almost never did, but I guess I have sinned in FH5) and I have learned not to drive too dangerous. I still also get the problem of people ramming into me, but it’s FAR less than in FH5 (otherwise something would be terribly wrong…) and I mostly see people that ram me get substantial time-penalties. It’s definitely not perfect, but a big step up from FM3 and FH5, the games I have played for a good amount of time.

BTW I also use a wheel (one of the reasons I’m so slow) and turn off all assists. I just like the feeling that gives. It sometimes makes it extra annoying when people ram into you because they can instantly flip the car back on track while we turn our wheels like crazy to regain control.

I am also very new in Forza, it looks that the game has matured more than some of the players. The good thing is that it is attracting true gentlemen like you.

I have also rammed by accident. I remember once I switched from a TC race to a Stock Dodge Viper race and I was tired and sleepy. Go figure. I felt so ashamed that I shame-quitted the race. :flushed:

The game needs a flag system and the offenders need to just be banned from online. The best thing to do for now it is to just ignore them and not to react to them.

There’s 2 simple strats right now:

  • Qualify top 3, avoid the chaos on first corner by taking the inside and you are good for rest of race.
  • Don’t qualify, start last, let the chaos unfold and then drive by.

sry, typing on the phone i guess. .

I mostly posted in jest.

But every phone keyboard has an enter button that creates line breaks.

More professional formatting makes the point you’re making - which I agree is an issue indeed - that much more easy to understand and taken more seriously.

That what I find. I know I m not a podium driver yet. Mid pack maybe 5th highest. I m ok with that. But I have noticed the same people intentionally ram you thinking that’s how to get to the front and win. I don’t think they understand this is a real sim racing game. Not NFS or one of those games. Hopefully once the shine wears off then only the people who want to have a real race and become better sim raves will remain. Fingers crossed that’s in a month or so!

I would like to see licences now that I think about it.

I honestly think one of the reasons they didn’t use licensing is because in most games that are racing games and lean towards sim - there gets to be a point where only people who can afford high-end rigs, and racing wheels do really well. We can’t have parts of these games be reliant on spending $400 on equipment just to complete core progression in the game or play at higher levels.
This is to say, I’m not sure it would really fix the problem of the quality of racers at the higher levels in this game given how it’s made.

Whatever happened to lobbies that stayed together? In them you could work out who the rammers were and try and stay clear. I enjoyed that in FM6, didn’t get along with FM7 so never played it.

I am currently S rated and joined a lobby today to have some guy side swiping everyone in the pre race practice. Obviously he didn’t do a qualifying lap and started the race from the back. He was doing donuts and driving backwards all be it ghosted out for the whole race. I have a slight suspicion he was not S rated.

The reason they aren’t showing peoples ratings is because it does not work.

For the ratings to work, the game needs a high player count. With all the bad-mouthing the Forza community is doing around the game, it doesn’t help. The game sure has some bugs and issues, but the core is golden. That’s what we should be telling people.

The game it is very popular in YouTube. Some Gran Turismo youtubers are moving to Forza because it just have more views because races are much more fun to watch.
In other forums the game is loved. Of course they are aware and expecting bugs to get fixed but from a positive perspective.
Simracers looking for something a bit more casual really like the new Forza.
This forum (and Reddit) is the exception.

I just hope the T10 Devs don’t spend too much time in this forum because it is a depressing echo chamber of people dealing with emotional attachment. That doesn’t reflect the very good things that the game offers.

I really hope you are right. I’m loving the focus on physics and wouldn’t mind if it got even more “sim”.

I am new to xbox. Bought series s last year, about half year series x, so me and my kid can play together or separately, i like racing more, my kid shooters. Those are my first xboxes. In racing games i allways liked challenge and physics more closer to reality rather arcade like need for speed games. First Forza game for me was FH5. That was good arcade for me. FM is 1st Forza Motorsport i ever played from that series. Ok, sry for long offtopic begining.
I just wanted to say, that i’m new or noob etc for FM. FM I play from october 5. After multiplayer qualifier 3 races my rating was an A and about 3.5k. I was like that- wth really? Max skill 5k and i’m better than half peeps?! At this moment in game i’m done with career, with featured events done and got Acura. I tried at least once every multiplayer event. I was getting better ofcourse, getting used to cars, tracks, etc. So my rating now is S rank and about 4.5k. And i completely understand you. This multiplayer skill rating after 3 qualifier races is wrong. I agree that, there need to be something, that you start from bottom and slowly progress. Not just dropped in between and lets see where this goes. I’m trying to drive as clean as possible, ofcourse i’m making mistakes too. But at 4.5k skill and S rank rating, i think there is far too much those rammers, who doing all to try to get ahead of you. By the way, playing smart agressive, you can get even advantages. Feels like nfs games. Example, in first turn from p8 you deep dive in 1st turn, you ruine at least for 3-4 players all race, you get ahead about those 3-4 places and you dont even get a penalty.
Those starts in every race is pain in the ***.
If FM managed to change multiplayer ranking system more strictly and reset all ranks for all players, i would be just for it.

Bad mouthing is an understatement. I enjoy this game and there is a lot of fun to be had once you get past the rammers and constant game glitches, which there an awful lot of at the moment. If I get an hour to play, I want to race, not practice for half an hour have the game crash and maybe get 1 if lucky 2 races in that hour. Like you say the core of the game is great but if you look at the community and social media accounts at the moment at least 95% of comments are negative and will be for a long time yet if the game continues as it is without significant improvement in a few areas. I will persevere with it but not sure how many will. I just hope it gets better soon.

Yeah…they absolutely need to fix the bugs and glitches.

I think it’s wrong of you to encourage others to false advertise what this game is not. This game is not stable, it’s barely in a half playable state right now, and this is what players are discussing.
