Hello guys.
Lately I’ve been thinking about what annoys me in the Forza series the most. And the answer is: ramming in multiplayer sessions.
I get it, some people find it funny, some people see it as the only way to get some good results. But most of us HATE it and it’s often a reason for players to sign off, and as it was for me, not want to come back to the game again. It wasn’t the only reason, but it was the most significant one.
So I was thinking about a solution. I’ve thought about the implemented physical measures in the game, I remember acceleration and forces are present in the stats. So why not implement a penalty mechanic into the game? It could start as a simple algorithm: when a huge acceleration (in that situation: deceleration) happens, the player’s gas pedal is cut off for, say, 5 seconds, and he becomes a ghost for that time. That would stop people from ramming into walls to brake. Or a system that would catch the following sequence: there was a contact between two players, one of them misses the checkpoint - the other one gets a cooldown like I said before.
I’ve also thought about 2 different zones for players: one for those being reported constantly for ramming, and the second one for those that would rather break than hit someone else.
I remember I once played a F1 game where I got a penalty just for cutting a bit too much of the track. I was annoyed at the moment, but it made me a better driver. Same would happen here: rammers would get mad, but then they would start respecting other drivers and get better at driving.
I’m looking forward for a discussion with you! I’d also be happy if one of the devs could relate to my idea of solving the problem that’s been in this series since the birth of multiplayer mode.
