I’ve read a couple of the sticky’d posts and this forum and been watching a load of videos, so I’ve got a decent idea in my head of the differences to Forza Horizon 3, but I’ve got a few questions:
-How does the tuning work different to Horizon? From the videos I’ve watched, the races seem to be a lot closer, whereas in FH3, some races are completely dominated by a supercharged C class car, accelerating twice as quick as everyone else.
-Can any car be viable to use in a class, or are some cars pretty unusable to compete with other people?
-How prevalent is ramming? Almost every FH3 is a ram fest, which I honestly don’t mind too much, but with the different physics in Forza 6…
-Does the driving feel at all similar to FH3? I usually finish top of most of the online championships in FH3, so can I expect to do well in Forza 6, or is it a completely different game to learn?
-Is manual shifting a necessity to compete online? I played FH on automatic, but should I expect to get massively outclassed unless I adapt to manual?
Any other major points that I should know before I buy?
Tuning on Horizon is much more forgiving, you’ll generally have to be more exact on Motorsport. There are obviously certain cars which are faster than others but you’ll usually only see people who can’t drive in them.
Lots of cars can be used in different classes as long as you can drive well enough. The less skill, more your choices of competitive cars shrink. There are obviously some which you can’t bring from a low class to a much higher class and expect to do well along with some others which are just potatoes but generally, as long as you’re in the middle classes, almost anything can be competitive if you can drive it.
It’s not as bad as Horizon but it’s definitely not pretty and hurts way more than Horizon.
Think of Horizon being 1.5x grip of Motorsport plus much more forgiving, don’t expect to be good at all. Some of the regular Horizon guys who are usually at the top of the LBs there jump on Motorsport and end up 3-5 seconds off pace if not more. That being said, you could still be competing for podiums in regular public lobbies depending on the opponents.
I think Raceboy covered everything but I do have a little to add for these 3.
Tuning options are the exact same. Building cars is pretty similar except the engine swap options are different, no wide body kits in FM6 and I think FH3 has more rim/body kit options.
As for tuning, if you understand it in FH3, you’ll understand it for FM6. You’ll just have to relearn what works in FM6.
If a fast guy is using a fast car on the right track, you will see some crazy acceleration. Build is very important online in FM6. If it’s a high acceleration track and you’re using a balanced car, you will lose more often than not. Good driving and lower skilled lobbies can compensate for a less than desirable built car though.
Don’t expect to do well. FM6 is where you’ll find the highly skilled players and you’ll find them more often than FH3. You’ll be lucky to finIsh top 5 in races if you stick with automatic in every class except the top 2.
You may be lapped or finish at least a half lap down in the lowest classes if you use auto. You really don’t have a chance in doing well even if your car is fast.
