Hey guys I’m a gearhead irl wanted a racing game that allowed me to mod/tune my car so I picked up FH3. I’m sure this has been talked about but wassup with these goofy v12/ v10 engine swaps? I spent almost an hr base tuning my zr1 before buying upgrades and I go to the air strip with the confidence of beating this 6th gen camaro ss that pulled up sounding like a garbage disposal but I tht it was supercharged . Not only did he dust me but also a gt350r that pulled up. I was curious about his tune/mods so i msg him only to find out he put a v12 in it. I want to play online but my tunes/mods aren’t goofy and over the top so I lose alot. Helppppppp!

In Drags that is what you are most likely to find is the V12 monsters. Try running the lower class cars, C or D. I primarily run only Rivals now against Friends and Club mates and with the lower class cars you will find that you more than likely have to leave the stock engine in or maybe a bump up to a V8. I feel it takes a lot more skill and patience to run and put down good times in the lower classes because it is more dependent on setup and tuning than anything else.
I too am a long time gear head started working on my own cars when I bought a 1966 Ford Galaxie 500, 352 big block in 1978 when I was 16.
You’re more then likely going to have more fun playing with like minded people online if you play with a club or friends. And as said above, sticking to certain classes can also help.
If you’re new to the game and don’t know; Forza Horizon has it’s cars bracketed in performance classes based on a virtual “Performance Index” number. The higher the number the higher tier class it will go to. In FH3 they are, from low to high; D, C, B, A, S1, S2, X
So if you are showing up to an open event in a B class car, and are racing cars that would be in that class, but are modded to run S1 or S2, then yes you are going to be in a world of pain.
I’m not a huge fan of stupid builds myself, but they can sometimes be fun, and messing about with cars is what is a major appeal to me in this game. I have a i4 turbo charged rally engine in the Holden FX Ute and set it up for off-road, that thing is a hoot to drive.
I hope this helps a little and I hope this has not turned you off of the Forza Horizon experience, give it a chance, don’t take it to serious and have fun
P.s. I too consider myself a petrol-head, heck I have even owned an Alfa Romeo
I’m the same, I like a more realistic feeling. I have tons of cars, all sorts, all classes. I love messing with the tunes. I’m not a big fan of v12 swaps. I love the strip but love drifting. Built myself a cockpit with a handbrake and it’s a blast. One of my favorite car to drive is the 1997 RX-7 with a v8 swap. Still looking for a club to join…
You guys feeling out of place in Horizon might prefer Forza Motorsport 6 orr 7… I’ve played forza since FM1 but skipped FH3 until today. The horizon games are more arcady than the Motorsport line. I bought FH3 on a discount and it really reinforced why I prefer the Motorsports side of things…
You’re correct in everything you say, but I feel there’s absolutely room for the two to coexist. Forza Motorsport is great for those that want a realistic experience with a focus on racing on race tracks. Forza Horizon is great for those that want a somewhat realistic experience while being able to goof around by doing ridiculous races in ridiculous locations. I appreciate the realism of Motorsport, but I love the silly fun of Horizon, and I love just being able to get into a car and drive around the world.
