i just got an xbox one 2 months ago, have not touched consoles since first xbox… anyways… i bought horizon 3 and the only ‘online adventure’ events are asphalt only… mixed or cross country etc bothers me, it doesn’t feel like racing, feels like a poop show to me… i used to play motogp on original xbox back when demo discs existed with xbox magazine… played that online probably 2000 hours lol
one thing i am wondering, is motorsport harder to drive? do i need to be a pro gamer to git gud? because on horizon i just choose ‘auto upgrade’ on all my cars and people told me horizon is easier.
horizon is only 12 players, most lobbies are about 5-8 people and often times people pick annoying events like king of the hill, capture the flag etc so i’m kind of annoyed when people vote for that stuff.
should i get motorspsort 6 or wait for 7 this year? or should i stick to horizon because i don’t feel like tuning my cars (i dont drive irl, no idea about cars whatsoever) i just like real racing, like f1 games and motogp…
very noob thread i know, sorry, wont disturb you any further ;p
I dont think you will have any problems handling this game. And for the tuning, just check the tuner’s garage section of the forum to see what is offered by members of the community.
Fm6 has a great feature where u can pick the tune from the leaderboard. Imo this is 1 of the single most fundemental improvments t10 have made. It’s shows how important this is on horizon as the tunes a pretty much worthless and nobody has a clue what works best other than word of mouth. In that respect it’s not hard to pick the right car for the right track and be competitive on fm6. Getting fast takes time tho so depending on the time u want to put in will depend on how fast you actually get. You won’t have any problems with the transition and it certainly sounds like fm6 is more suitable for you than horizon
i got the game, i like it way more than horizon. the only thing that bothers me is the braking system… at least in C class… in horizon you brake so easily… in this you just slide non stop, getting used to it however
Horizon locks up between 95 and 99% and fm6 is between 76 and 80%. I belive the breaking phisics are totally different. Abs on will stop you locking up or like most people use a trigger stop by either using an elite controller or modify your trigger with a bit of tape to give you a guide where to press the trigger to. It won’t be long before your rocking no abs, Manuel with clutch and if your really brave sim steering
It’s slightly more unforgiving than Horizon, but the general handling model is the same.
To put it another way, it is easier to lock up your brakes in Motorsport, easier to break traction on hard acceleration, and you will “feel” the weight of the car much more than in a Horizon game. You will have an adjustment period but once you get over that hump you should be fairly comfortable.
No. Take it one step at a time, gradually start removing any Assists (they don’t help you learn and in most cases slow you down) and move up to faster cars once you’re confident.
Horizon is easier. Essentially it takes the Motorsport handling model and changes some of the parameters to make it easier for anyone to drive. Some will call this “dumbing down”, others will say that you’re just getting more grip than you would in reality.
There are a few “game” lobbies in Motorsport, but they’re sectioned off in their own lobbies. If all you want to do is race, there are plenty of places to do that.
Get Forza Motorsport 6 and think of it as a learning tool. By the time Forza Motorsport 7 is released you should be confident enough in your driving ability to be good right away.
There are many ways to get a good tune for your car without having to make one. When starting out however, I would suggest learning how to drive well with a car that has no tune on it. Once you can do that, a good tune will make you much faster but you’ll have a good foundation. Tunes don’t win races, drivers do. Tunes just make it more comfortable for you when you’re pushing hard.
Do disturb us. The key to learning and improvement is to ask questions. If you’re struggling with a particular part of the game that’s what we’re here for to tell you where you may be going wrong and how to make it right.
The path of self improvement is not a lonely journey.
ah about the breaking, it was definitely me pressing on brakes 100%… i’ve been doing what you guys said around 50-70% and braking is so much easier. i noticed it works better in horizon as well but i simply don’t like that game at all anymore now that i have motorsport.
Hmm, if i knew the lobby situation i’d be really tempted to say pick up a 2nd hand X360 and a copy of Forza 4. 360 prices are starting to fall now so for around £50 you should get both console and game. The added bonus being that Forza 3 (as well as many other last gen games) is also an option
As for lobby sizes, bigger isn’t always better. I’ve had some truly epic 5-24 player races as well as some horrific laggy wreck fests with an equal amount of players, so it really is the lobby itself that dictates the quality of experience - and not the amount of people you’re racing against.
Fm4 online lobbies are dead unfortunately and 24 person lobbys very rarely work it’s 1 of fm6 features that’s a big problem. 16 in a lobby is just about enough and I hope T10 don’t increase the number anymore we have hit the limit imo
Limit 24 player lobbies to lobbies that have more laps?
I’ve seen 24 player lobbies work in leagues and have even seen it work in casual lobbies. I remember well starting 24th and finishing 2nd one race and almost got the achievement. Wasn’t the fastest racers in the world but it wasn’t bad either. Had a 21 player the other day that worked well too.
I’ve always thought the problem with 24 was the lap count and to an extent no reward for moving up well in the race. It’s win or nothing. Some sort of recognition such as number of clean passes, biggest mover, etc. similar to Overwatch might get the point across that winning isnt everything but a good race should be recognized. Additional XP/credits (assuming this stuff would matter in the next Forza) or neat badges or descriptive text (not sure why this was removed from other forzas) could be the tangible reward.
