Online racing handling

Is it just me or do the cars handle different when racing online to how they do on the same tracks in single player. I have a couple of grip tuned cars and they are great in single player side of the game but when I race online they feel completely different.

Do I have to load the tune for them when racing online. A few people I race with have said the same there cars feel different.

They feel exactly the same to me in either mode.

I agree with you there. Hopping on my Koenisegg is enough of a risk in single player but when I go on multiplayer, resent the fact #TeamForza won’t shut collisions off, had to switch all my assists on because of the handling, wheelspin etc

That’s good I’m not the only one.

I have a b class car that is top 500 on alps but online I can’t get near my time.

I got a 360cs in a class that I can just handle with no assists offline. Had a spin in it last night and that’s all I did was spin. Had to turn assists back on to keep it in a straight line. Is this a problem that needs looking at

Every once in a while I’ve jumped in a car that felt different, sometimes drastically, online. Not recently though as far as I can recall. I want top say it was a problem I noticed in older Forzas, maybe 3-4. If it happened as recently as in 5 I don’t remember it happening.

I just did a League Race and a Rivals event back-to-back with the same car/circuit combo, felt no difference and got near identical laptimes.

It’s a small sample size I know but personally I don’t feel much difference between the various game modes in terms of handling.

Agree, in rival Mode you are seconds faster, same car, Same tune.

I don’t get this problem all the time but when I do, my car does seem faster in single player, the acceleration is noticeably slower and the car feels heavier online. Had the same problem in previous Forza games.

I haven’t did a lot of multiplayer as of yet but have not really saw a difference.

Could it be that those of you who are seeing a difference have been using mods? If so then they do nothing in multiplayer so it you had say a grip mod equipped in career or free play modes then the car will have less grip in multiplayer than it did in the other modes where the mod was active.

I have been playing mostly SP to this point…ran a few MP races and I did notice the cars tend to feel less planted. Not sure if it a connection related issue, latency or whatever - but I definitely noticed it and was not just a matter of perception…the difference (for me anyhow), was noticeable.

I think the difference isn’t in the physics, it’s in US. One tends to push the car a little harder in MP races than we do in career or rivals.

We enter corners hotter. We accelerate more aggressively, we brake later and harder, because this is a REAL race against living, breathing human beings, not 'bots or ghosts.

Result: more “offs”, wrecks, spins, drifts, and other unfortunate things which happen when you over-drive a car.

I totally agree that under the pressure, there is a different mentality racing with humans.

You can always restart an offline race. There is only one chance to win a MP race.

Its got to be something like , tyer flex or phyicis rate changed or reaction time affected or it could be all in your heads like Big Mek says.

Also the telemetry is a little different from live to replay.

I had this happen as well. In my case it was because I had some mods on (which are active in single player but not in multiplayer). After taking off any performance enhancing mods (crew in particular) I haven’t noticed any difference.

I’ve noticed it too, but I chalk it up to a couple of things like: 1. Pushing harder when racing against a pack of humans vs. the AI. 2. Possibly issues induced by slight lag / network connection. #1 is my fault, if #2 is real then I would hope that we could get a fix I don’t remember the same inconsistency in previous Forzas online.

Are you using the same damage settings online and in single player? I noticed in the FM3 and 4 that that cars drove differently between cosmetic and simulation.

My setting are the same online as offline. I no you are more hotter racing on line but I just fine that the cars a loose online.

I have just moved down a class to c class racing and fine the racing better the cars do handle a little better. So I not no it’s the higher speeds causing the issue.

Still love the game, and I just learn to drive the cars in a different way.

I offer this statement based off my own experience and in no way am I criticizing your intelligence or skill level. No disrespect is intended.

Back in my early days of racing I found that my cars felt fine offline when I was in career mode but when I got online the car felt like something was wrong. The problem was my mindset. Whenever I was in career I was calm and not rushing to get past the AI cause I knew I was faster then the hardest difficulty AI racers. As such I was patient and methodical when it came to passing and winning the race was easy.

When I would get online, all that patience went right out the window. I tried to beat everyone to every turn and would try to be the fastest guy on the track and all the sudden I felt like my cars were not handling like they were when I was offline. I had to mentally “slow down” and start using that patience and passing skill I was capable of when I was playing in the career. All that said, I will still push to hard at times and have to force myself to slow down.

I would suggest that you save a replay from one of your career races and one from an online race and compare how your driving when in the diferent game modes. If you’re anything like I was when I first started getting online then the replays will definitely help you identify if you’re being way to aggressive and in turn “overdriving” the car.

On very rare occasions I have had a serious issue with a lobby being excessively laggy and on those rare occasions I have felt like the cars handling was compromised due to the lag.

More than likely you have nit the nail on the head. We are trying to measure something that cannot be measured…emotion and perception.
The reality is we know we feel different when we race against human opponents…this in turns affects reflexes, judgment, and most importantly as it applies here - perception of reality.

+1

It’s all purely psychological. When the race is on the line against real people, we push harder and tend to over-drive the cars.
