Accurate or not, that original post still makes a good point. That FM5 model looks different enough from the FM4 one (slightly different proportions, mostly), so I can imagine that this is a (somewhat) higher polycount model. But visually, the textures make way more difference than the polys do. That holds true in general: in 5 the paint actually looks as glossy or matte as it needs to be, colors and finishes on cars from the '60s or '70s look noticeably different than newer cars, rubber looks more like rubber, which looks different from plastic, etcetera. Poly counts are probably as high as they’re going to realistically get this generation without compromising other things, and T10 at least seems dedicated to finding other nuanced ways to make models look good.
I don’t think the remodelling of a Renault 5 Turbo just so the internal engine cover looks a little more realistic is exactly high on my “absolute must have in Forza 6” list to be honest
Hmm … the only flaw I see in the Chevelle comparison is the expectation that the game’s assets be a 1 for 1 representation of real life–something Turn 10 has never claimed to be a feature of their product.
As a reminder: it’s a videogame. There will be inaccuracies. There will be mistakes. There will be things done for the sake of creative control. There will be imperfection. Expect it and you might just be able to enjoy the game.
When I go to bonnet (hood) view, where does the rest of the car go? Try driving a car with bonnet vents, and you can see right through to the floor tarmac when racing.
Everyone else in the game can still see my whole car, if I switch views, the whole car is still there, so why do they remove the rest of the car when I use the bonnet?
I would have though the cars model would remain the same, just the POV moved.
I noticed that on the 250 GTO in cockpit view, I’m going to guess it’s just a little graphical glitch on some cars, I don’t know for sure but it bugs the hell out of me
Great answer - you really do sound more and more like a moderator every day.
This thread, full of people seemingly quite knowledgable about the game and graphics seemed like a nice place.
It might be slightly off topic, but it’s still FM, and graphics. Or are we not allowed to mention FM1/2/3/4/5 at all in the FM6 forum? Because if that’s the case, you’d best go and tell most of the forum that, or you still just like pestering me?
I was genuinely responding to what I thought to be a genuine question. If you have an issue with that (or anything else I post), either block me, report me, or just let us know when you are typing rhetorically.
Seems like a reasonable place to ask. In software you want to minimise the calculations being made to maximise performance so you’d avoid drawing things that aren’t seen. In the case of the bonnets it’s just sloppy programming. On a normal bonnet you’d draw only the skin and any reflections but poor attention to detail means you see through the vents. They just didn’t create the fill for the vents. The bonnet is a 2D element and detail behind the vents would require 3D (depth) otherwise they’d just look like black graphics.
Some pretty crazy things being mentioned in here. I could not care any less if the badge is placed 1 inch to far up the hood, or if the carpet on the rear parcel shelf of a car isn’t detailed enough. However I completely agree, that cars from previous game should not be made DLC again. We have paid for the same cars 2 times over already & yes we all know that we don’t HAVE to buy the cars, but most of us do because we either want them,or they become the most competitive cars in the game.
As for being released on PC. I highly doubt they would ever do something that silly, why would they when they have the console consumers wrapped around their finger? The quality of racing simulators on PC is something that Forza simply can’t compete with, & they really don’t need to. For all these years they have owned the market share for console racing fans, & if Project Cars turns out to be a flop then they will continue to take us “the consumer” for everything we have. Of course, if PCars is a success, then Forza is going to be in trouble… Let’s just hope that Turn10 can harness this possible “threat” to work extra hard on this one, & listen to what the community wants to make the next Forza, the best ever.
By the way, not having a stab at anyone in here or Turn 10, we all know they are a business & in order for us to have anything at all, they need to be making money!
I don’t agree with your point although I understand what you’re getting at. Each Forza is a stand alone game in a franchise, not a series, and it doesn’t follow that previous cars should be included on disc. Sure, you purchased a car but only for use in the game in which you purchased it, not ad infinitum. The flip side of the point you’re arguing is that there’d never be any new cars on disc but only previous ones time and again.
The only reason you’d feel “wrapped around T10s finger” is that you haven’t seen a viable alternative to Forza Motorsport on the XBox in a decade. You can’t possibly blame T10 or Microsoft for the quality of other developers games and rather than critisism you really should congratulate them. The alternative would have been 10 years of Need for Speed.
I’m sure that if they thought the market lucrative enough they’d produce for PC. Microsoft Studios made some very successful PC games in the past but don’t appear to see this as a core activity any more. If they did someone would probably take them to court again!
I’m not so sure T10 would view Project Cars as a threat. It may be good, it may not, but generally speaking the more people buying and playing racing games the better for everyone in that particular market. Most keen gamers would buy both anyway and because of that I wouldn’t want them to be too similar anyway.
Literally everything I’ve seen about PCARS makes it look like it’ll be more of a direct competitor to the GRID series than Forza, down to the sponsored race career and deeper focus on specific disciplines of competitive racing, as opposed to Forza’s focus on personal customization, “car encyclopedia” depth, and general-interest focus. I’ll play PCARS when I feel like I’m missing out on white-knuckle wheel-to-wheel endurance races in torrential downpours, and I’ll play Forza when I want to find out how much horsepower I can put into a candy-painted '63 Beetle until taking it around the Nurburgring in Rivals mode becomes hilariously impossible. Making it a zero-sum choice doesn’t do either title any favors.
Every realistic racing game released on Xbox one is a threat to Turn 10 now. Even f1 2015 will be a threat to them. Because Forza 5 finally, for the first time introduced F1 cars into the franchise, most people are expecting more to come back for Forza 6. People will be comparing Forza’s F1 car detail and physics to F1 2015. F1 2015’s F1 tracks like Spa and Yas Marina will also be compared to Forza’s. As for Project Cars, I totally agree with Stupornaut about it being a direct competitor to the Grid series. I always prefered Forza to Grid on the 360 because I always found Grid to be a little too focused on the feeling of being in a team rather than the racing, though Project Cars will obviously still be a threat for Turn 10 and they will have to think about that. Turn 10 are under pressure in the motorsport series especially. There Horizon titles have also been critisized a bit, but had a much better reaction with fans and reviewers recently than Forza 6. They are accused of not listining to their fans, being too lazy and not being creative enough (which sometimes is true). If Turn 10 want to silence these critics they have to take these threats into account and deal with it by producing one of the best racing games in the world like we know they can. They already did it with Forza 4, why not with Forza 6.

I think the point of the whole argument is not so much paying for something as DLC twice, BUT paying for something as DLC twice in a game whose genre generally has an additive content policy.
Case and point: FM2, 3, and 4 did not do what FH, FM5, and FH2 did with their DLC- that is, selling you cars that may have been present/DLC in previous games. There was an expectation that this additive content policy would be maintained, as it has been in Gran Turismo 4-6 (for better or worse).
I think a lot of people purchase Forza DLC with the hope that they’re supporting a permanent addition to the franchise. Tons of people clamored for, let’s use the Alfa Romeo 4C as an example. The Alfa Romeo 4C gets added to FH2. Are you really going to say that you wouldn’t expect it in FM6? Would you not complain if it was missing from that game’s roster? A lot of people would, even if you wouldn’t. They would say, “It was in FH2!” And that’s the default logic for this game. It’s what people expect. They don’t expect everything to be up in the air between releases, with final car and track rosters getting picked on a whim. They expect the next game to be bigger than the last, to add upon what was already there.
Justifying DLC’s effect on overall content on a game-by-game basis doesn’t make sense in this context.
Over the last 10 years there have been dozens of XBox driving games, some good, some bad. Cream always floats so over that time Forza has become the most successful. There have always been others that sell well but the key to success for all of them is that they don’t copy one another and become clones of the same game. Not only would this restrict our choice but it would also be commercially damaging. Just like FPS or RPGs they have things in common, going quickly in a car, but beyond that it’s important that they all offer something different. People buy more than one game anyway, I’m sure most here have had driving games other than Forza and the potential market is far bigger than any driving game has managed to reach. Just so long as people stop banging on about how FM needs to be more like PCars everyone should do well. It’s a moot debate anyway at this stage as no one has yet seen the XB version of PCars and no one has a clue what FM6 will be like. Then, jump ahead to 2017 and the announcement of FM7. Where will PCars be then? Is it likely a new game will be in the pipeline or will they still be trying to sell packs for a two year old game and more importantly, will it have the following it’ll need to survive. It’s a big world and there’s always room for good products.
remap uv.
when i made vinils, i wish apply easly on the car.
some cars are mapped really bad.
if i work on the side, i wish work on all the side. Sometime happend i had to put 2 vinils (one for the side, one for the top) for view my entire graphic on the car door, for example.
P.S. the rear spoiler in Lancia Delta is adjustable.
I only wish this guy spoke intelligible English because he makes a great point.
UV or Texture Mapping is what decides what textures, (paint images, colors, carbon pieces etc.) appear where on the car. So many models from FM5 could really stand to be remapped. There are so many paint glitches that I won’t even begin to try and list them. This should be a priority.
