Night Time Issue

It seems that once again, the night cycle in FH5 does not last anymore than a few minutes, which was a downfall in FH4. With FH5, night seems to be easier to see around and with all the nice lighting around, it would be enjoyable for more night time game-play, similar to FH3, rather than mostly day time game-play.

I 100% agree, this has been my biggest complaint so far alongside the lack of options in online racing. Id much rather drive in night time, I find it really dumb how night only last 5 minutes, it makes no sense.

Pretty much. I’d say 3 minutes tops. Bit ridiculous.

For me it feels like 2 min nights i mean before the Sun goes down its still veery bright. The night starts bright and end bright. Real dark night feeling is still 2-3 min i think.
I rly hope winterseasons give longer nights if not im a bit Sad about it.. its rly fun for me to Meet friends at some nightdrives through the World in fh4 even if they short its just the feeling.

I can’t agree, I find night quite annoying and I rather it was disabled.

You can almost guarantee that when I’m trying to do PR stunts, drift zones, cross country etc. it will go dark so I end up parking up for what seems like forever waiting until I can see again.

But it’s not like FH4, the nighttime in FH5 has been improved. You now have the ability to see everything and watch all the lights light up, whether you’re out in the country or in urban areas. FH4 had downgraded their night vision.

Basically the point of this post. If it’s upgraded, why is it still only a few minutes long, like it was in Forza Horizon 4. Previous Horizons were great with it.

A full cycle is around 1 hour 40 mins with only 10mins or so of those 100mins allocated to night time.

You’re just very unlucky you fall on the 10% chance of it being night time when you’re doing those tasks.

They should put night on/off, and length in settings.

If I had to guess why night is implemented like it is, I would imagine that it’s by design based on actual historical data. While I understand that there are some gamers who do enjoy driving at night, I would guess that the large majority of gamers much prefer driving in the daylight. They have captured hundreds of millions of hours of gameplay data across the games over the years and I would expect that the actual gameplay data indicates that most people prefer daytime for their gameplay. And I am sure that the data has likely influenced their design of the day/night cycles in the games.

Well the data doesn’t include the annoyance of doing a seasonal stunt at night, so it wouldn’t work.

Sadly, if true, this has become a self-fulfilling prophecy - with night limited to only 10% or so of the available “hours in a day”, then looking at historic game play will show that only 10% of gamers’ activities have taken place at night. We spend more time driving in the daylight because that is mostly what PGG has provided. The decision to have a “short night” was made before we players ever got a chance to have our say.

Night can be quite problematic if your monitor is in a room with significant natural lighting. I prefer the shortened night cycle. Wish I could turn it off completely, at least while in solo mode.

I totally agree. Now where is that “LIKE x 10” button??

I personally think that some sort of setting for controlling night time would be perfect. Nights always look amazing in Forza, and to have the night last only 5 minutes without any way to change it would be a huge letdown, at least for me personally.

I’d say it stays pitch Black for 3 minutes and 5 minutes all up with the sun down/dawn. It’s very quick. Night is awesome for Forzatography and to drive around with all the festive & urban lighting. 10 minutes seems more reasonable.

I usually enjoy the night driving, and don’t often have a problem seeing. Driving cross country through dense trees is about my only problem at night.

If memory serves me correct, those who played the preview build did not have access to all seasons. I would assume that night time in spring and summer are short compared to autumn and winter.

I do agree with the option to adjust the day/night cycle in free roam however. That would be an incredible feature. We’ve seen things like this in the developer build of FH3 along with things like being able to instantly change weather conditions. Would be nice if those options came to fruition in single player and one day in private lobbies.

Mexico is pretty equatorial, isn’t it? That should mean night and day are about the same length year round.

While you are correct, I very much hope that the in game day and night are not about the same in length the year round. I am not a big fan of night time in the game.

First post…

Later post…

The same length throughout the game is a few minutes.
