Hey everyone. I hate the longer nights. Absolutely hate them. I know it’s not realistic to have as little night time as we had prior to this update, but I was ok with it since day driving is so much better. The graphics look better, the cars look better, and the most important thing… you can see clearly the road ahead of you. Just like in real life, if you go for a drive on a weekend you choose daytime to be able to see and push the car to its limits(if you’re a car guy at least). Who goes for a fast drive on a weekend at night? Maybe for cruise at night, but fast driving at night? Who does that? So the same goes for Forza. Who plays it for cruising? We’re trying to drive fast and test our cars limits, so day driving is a no brainer. At least give us an option to choose time of day, or a toggle for longer nights enabled/disabled. I was so frustrated that I’m thinking of redownloading FH4. I hate that as games evolve we have less options and we are told to be ok with it. Even if they add the option to select longer nights, I won’t be getting FH6. I’m in the minority who just play this game for the cars and the freeroam. I have 400hrs of just free-roaming with my favorite cars(all of them stock). But this game is not for people like me, it is for kids and casuals. In the past we could all co-exist, but now we can’t.
Also, I noticed the car handling has changed with this DLC update. Cars have a bit less grip, and the steering seems weird in my Ferrari 512 TR (favorite car in game). Anybody else noticed this?
You’re only the second mention of handling feeling different I’ve seen, both just tonight, and I’ve not seen it myself, so I’ll ask the same question (which apparently wasn’t it in the other case)… if you have the Hot Wheels DLC have you checked Steering Assist in settings ? It got turned back on in the update, along with who knows what else. Maybe that’s it ?
As for night, my vote is keep it, and no I’m not a kid or a casual or whatever other gate you want to try to close. I think you would have a valid complaint if it was say 70 percent night time and 30 percent daytime, but, it’s the other way around. There’s a lot of us that like night driving, in the game and IRL. We can all co-exist if you can see the problem. If night is so bad for you, try adjusting your video settings, or park up and take a short break, night is only a few minutes long, on the rare occasions you get caught in it.
Thanks for replying! I have the premium edition with all DLC’s, I’ll check later if this option is enabled or not. I hope this is what it is, because it feels weird. Also, I do notice that are a lot of people liking the night. I just don’t. So I hope at least for them to give us the option to choose for longer nights.
P.S
And I’m sorry about the ‘casuals’ and ‘kids’ remark… you’re right about that! I’m just a bit upset for the change…
Appreciate that, and the frustration, yeah, bit o tha myself, sorry
And now I’m wondering, should it even be the HW settings ? I can’t recall if they only apply to HW land or everywhere ? So, there might be something to the handling getting changed
I hope it’s this setting… I’ll check it once I get home. The handling feels different since the update. Definitely a bit less grip on stock tires, and weird steering.
I don’t understand the appeal of the night at all. Other than for photo ops. Maybe if all the vampiric inclined fellows grab a plate and sit in a dark ultility cupboard and work your ‘steering wheel’ in there whilst people who like to see when they drive play the game?
A solution is whenever its night in horizon solo make it day in horizon life. And vice versa. So people who want to work on their tunes & tackle the pr stunts can do so with minimal disruption.
As for in-game. I don’t mind that as much for freeroam, but that means that night will be longer for Eliminator. And for me that sucks massively. One thing that I can’t see much, but also I can never tell where car drops are cause they merge with zone colour.
I enjoy night driving. Of course, I’d enjoy it more if headlights (and by association all the extra lights you can add to some cars) worked better. And, sometimes, I’d enjoy it more if the vintage car I selected which didn’t have headlights when I got it didn’t get some automatically bolted on when I go to drive it.
Are you using a wheel on an xbox? If so they, they have made some changes in the settings, there is now a rotation angle setting and a couple of others (which i’m not sure what they do) . Mine was terrible at first because they’d set the rotation to minimum. I’ve got close to getting it back to how i had it set up before, but it still feels not quite right - feels like there is a ffb deadzone around straight ahead
I’m using an XONE controller on PC. The settings are all the same, I’ve checked. The handling has changed or the physics I don’t know. It’s like more arcade now. I’m going to open a separate thread, I’ve tested more cars and for me it’s undrivable…
idk if this is the same issue, but i just finished 3 eliminators in a row and daytime didnt trigger once! i presumed this was a bug, so i restarted the game on my xbox, launched into gameplay and it was stlll night time.
I think we can pretty surely rule out it being as designed. It’s almost certainly a bug. I haven’t done much eliminator, a hundred plays to final race maybe ? and in all that I only recall TWO times there was night and they cycled by pretty quick. Since the update I’ve only played a few and none of them had any night, not even dusk.
I think it is the HW steering setting. I noticed that any car I used was immediately spinning out when I’d start to accelerate, and when I did manage to get going it was like driving on ice irl. Going to the HW park and turning that steering setting off seems to have fixed it though.
Also, I think more frequent nights would have been better than longer. It’s incredibly annoying to wait around outside a house for night to finally end when I want to paint a car or use forzavista. With that said, after the update, I was waiting for night, and it was over two hours in real time before it came.
It’s not. I went into HW and disabled it. It didn’t change nothing for me. The handling is still like arcade. Ruined the whole experience. I’m re-installing right now… This rally update broke my game, thanks PG. Now the long nights are the least of my problems…
As far as I’m aware the ‘HW Stunt Steering Assist’ is only applicable to driving in the HW park hence it’s grayed out in settings when in Mexico. (Mine had also reverted back to ‘on, frustratingly.)
Just ran some CC races which I’ve done literally thousands of in same car (TVR Speed 12, S1 class) and I can tell you the driving physics have definitely NOT changed (in cross country., anyway).
Makes sense to me if a different physics model is being used for the Rally Adventure expansion and might even be something ‘new’ for future game development.
I’ve experienced the first extended night on the main map (finally decided to leave Sierra Nueva for a moment ) and I have to say that I preferred shorter nights.
However, I’m sure PGG would be able to find a compromise that could please (more or less) both sides, e.g. extending night time by 5 minutes instead of 10
