To respond to you saying ‘who plays just to cruise,’ quite a lot of people actually. One of my favorite things to do in FH5, aside from eventlabs, is to just take out a nice looking car, go into first person, and just cruise around the map, taking photos along the way. I will say, I do love the longer nights, I feel the best compromise, so to speak, is to have a way to set/change the time of day in horizon solo, whether thru preset times or a slider

I find the regular game night time far too short, it only stays dark for 5 minutes, then it starts to get light again.I like cruising around in the evening and at night, but it is always over before it starts.Is 15 minutes dark too much to ask for ?
Like has been mentioned, why can’t we choose the time ourselves with a slider in free roam ?

I can see how selectable day/nighttime could work in Solo Mode but it is not possible in online play. However I have seen it rain on one player’s session whilst another player/myself was in dry weather (can’t quite remember if we were in a convoy at the time or if they were live on a stream but it was definitely concurrent to myself).
Goes back to the reason why there aren’t any traffic lights, allegedly, because they couldn’t get them to synchronize across sessions, but makes me wonder how there were traffic lights on FH4?

…I’m still sitting here in Rally waiting for the sun to set, going on a half hour now. I’ve rarely seen night outside of the races it is specifically set for. And while I didn’t time it, busy crashing glowing crates, it sure didn’t seem any longer than the old 5-10 minutes.

Custom servers are the only way I can see it working and I don’t think they’d support them unfortunately. 
FWIW follow up, “night” finally came. Total was maybe 10 minutes longer but that was all extra dusk and dawn that might as well be called day. Actual dark was not longer, still only about 10 minutes. And not even really dark.
At least I won’t miss the “extended night” when it leaves… because it was all hype. Just a lie.
Thanks for that update. I just did a couple of events, and yes… more dusk and dawn but actual night doesn’t appear to be longer, so this season IS actually doable for me.

Absolutely loving the Nights in Eliminator. Adds extra 4th dimension to uncertainty. I use that to my advantage ! 
Especially if the zone is in the forests down south !! 
Night lasted 2 full 15 min games of Eliminator back to back for me. So the night stays for 20-30 mins now.

Ok so there’s a video on youtube with a timer and it stays night for 45 minutes! This is ridiculous! I mean c’mon!

I started wondering last week if there was ANY consistency to the timing of day/night at all. Some have been complaining of too much night and too long while I rarely see any and it’s short. Then at one point after waiting ages for night, and it being short as usual, I was debating waiting through another long day for another night cycle and suddenly my headlights popped on and it started into dusk. In that one time the day was about as short as the night, all of 10 minutes. I guess I’m not surprised if there isn’t any actual sense to it all.

I absolutely abhor the longer nights. I mainly play Eliminator and car drops are near impossible to spot. Playability and enjoyment of the game is down the toilet.
I can’t wait for this nightmare to be done with. I hope they never do it again.

why not just alternate more frequently? 20 minutes day and night?

agreed. i used to play daily, now i have stopped completely because it simply isnt fun.
temporary or not, it truly is one of the dumbest decisions in game design they could have made. ive always wanted to believe game developers are smarter than me, but this truly makes me re-think that

You’re kidding right? FH5 night time isn’t even remotely dark. IMHO the day and night times should be equal to what they are IRL. Pretty much 50/50.

There’s few more deflating things in this game than appearing in freeroam & it’s dark. Can’t do anything. OK, do something else. And then when you’ve done that and you land back in freeroam and it’s … still dark.
All that might not even bother me but I go to the rally expansion and it’s dark there too. Ugh.
