New Tracks

Hey all,

I’m still fairly new to Forza, with FM7 being my first version since they released it on PC. I see the game has a LOT of cars, which is ok, never really interested and vans and other slower cars, though I guess I would love to see my GMC Terrain in the game. It would suck, but would be fun lol.

I think what’s missing for me(besided a patch to fix all PC version issues) is the limited number of tracks. Even watching some of the youtube influencers I see them saying they get frustrated in leagues and such as you get tracks that don’t make sense for the type of race, and of course everyone has one course they hate and it will usually always come up due the limited number of tracks(I see you VIR).

I’m wondering on what to expect for this version based on what Turn 10 has done in the past. I see lots of car packs that generally seeem to be getting deep groans. but about when do they release tracks? And how many do they usually add per version? There are SO many great racing tracks that would be great in Forza. There are also some interesting off road vehicles in the game, but no no off road tracks. I would spend more time doing racing on a proper track, but every once and awhile, it would be a blast to take on the monster trucks on a crazy muddy off road track.

Thanks!

In Forza 6 the NASCAR expansion came with Homestead and Porsche expansion came with VIR. The major flaw in adding tracks that way is that they will not be in the hopper and normal league rotations. So you got 2 tracks you could never race online pretty much. The only place to race them were in separate NASCAR and Porsche leagues and hoppers that only people who bought the DLC could access. Both were complete ghost towns pretty much although the Porsche leagues got a little action, not much. I doubt they would follow this again, it was total failure. Just not enough people bought them to fill it up. Unless DLC tracks are at least allowed in the rotations for free it’s not going to work. In Forza 5 the added tracks were free for everyone. My guess and it has been widely speculated that a Rally or some kind of Off Road expansion may be what they do instead but we do not know yet since no expansions have been announced for Forza 7 so far.

When additional tracks or special packages of cars/tracks are introduced as Download Content, those who do not wish to purchase the DLC will not have either the tracks or the cars to participate, so, even though there may be additional achievements/points or special events, only those who own the DLC will benefit.

As it should really be you get what you pay for but what about Free Play would the tracks appear there for all plyers or not or the Rentals in freeplay I get all the packs so if some one who dose not get them can they rent them in free play. And if any player can rent them in free play just what are we paying for in a car pack the option to Tune a car instead of only renting it.

No, it is as Snowowl descibed: only people that pay for this content will get access to it. You can’t rent cars if those are paid DLC cars (in MP or SP). Same with tracks, in FM6 with the NASCAR/Homestead and Porsche/VIR packs the tracks were locked if you didn’t pay for it.

Forza Motorsport 6: 2 tracks, behind a paywall, and not available in general Multiplayer Hopper track rotations.

Forza Motorsport 5: 3 tracks, free.

Cars are part of the mandatory update that comes with each DLC launch. The concept of the “null car” being a visible opponent in Multiplayer no longer exists in Forza.

Additionally, new Achievements that do not require the use of paywalled content can still be unlocked by non-paying users.

FM5 had 3 free track add-ons; Road America, Long Beach, and Nurburgring. Sorry, pedantic I know.

I don’t expect we will ever get free track content again, though. FM5’s track selection was a little on the short side of things, so I suspect that is why we got free tracks.

Must have missed it. LOL!

I remember there was some talk about the paywalled tracks by Turn 10 prior to the release of FM5. Was stated that they were unhappy with the way it affected multiplayer and so on, and that tracks would be free going forward… Which they actually did for FM5.

Then they move to FM6 and not only charge for them, but make them exclusive to $20 packs that each only appealed to a limited portion of the fanbase instead of making them separate $4.99 purchases or something, which meant that many people didn’t bother with them.

In hindsight it was so par for the course.

Tracks I know take longer to capture and develop than cars. I am always hoping they will give us a track pack of 3 or 4 street circuits. I will be happy with any additional tracks.

I know that Turn 10 prefer to laser scan tracks, but I wonder if there is a way to recreate some historic tracks, old versions of Silverstone, Spa, Interlagos etc. I’d pay a similar amount to what I paid for the FM6 expansions if there were 4 or 5 tracks, or maybe they could be added in 2 years time (18 months now) instead of making FM8.

I think tracks should be free like FM5. That way they can be added into multiplayer. On FM6, I never played Homestead or VIR making it a compete waste of money. Or they should add them into hoppers and if the track comes up the people that don’t have it, sit that race out.

Thanks Brain Dead was wondering about it was all

Wow Im all way amazed at the number of people who want to use content they never payed for or in a way it was not intended to be used and The tracks were in FM6 MP in there correct hoppers so you had an option to race on them in MP if you had payed for them.

More then half of the people in the lobby must have the DLC and actually like the track to vote for it. Making it useless again in multiplayer if not enough people buy the DLC.
Absolutely not a good idea.

Adding tracks as part of large car packs seems like a totally unthought out idea to me.

No one in their right mind is going pay £20 for a track, so it really comes down to the cars in the pack. If I owned FM6 I probably would have bought the Porsche pack, although given the fact I absolutely abhor VIR I wouldn’t exactly have been happy with the track once I tried it.

As for the NASCAR pack, doesn’t appeal to me at all.

I’m not really willing to drop more than £5 on a track DLC, and even then it depends on how familiar with the track I am. Truth is there are other games that have DLC priority for me, so track that is more or less limited to free play, at any price, is already fighting an uphill battle with me.

They have added tracks through DLC in every Forza M i think, at least with every recent Forza M. I would bet that they will add a track or two for this game as well.

I think we need a better track rotation… Didnt play a single race in Ring or Bathurst in FM7.

I think that they should add free tracks and compensate with making the car pack 10 bucks not 7 but that’s just my opinion.

You mean make the car pack that comes out alongside the track $10, or all car packs $10?

Their first few car packs for FM7 so far and I think they are really making some people regret purchasing the car pass. If they raise the price on the packs it would likely end up with a lot less sales.

No you missed his meaning, what he wants is free tracks and for them to be payed for by those who buy the car packs so what he wants is the people who do buy the car pack to also pay for the tracks whil he gets to use them for free. Another one who wants others to pay for his content.
