How many of the cars/tracks will be available 'in-box'

I’m not intentionally trying to crap on the game - trust me. I’m stoked for this! I love Forza, as I played a ton of FM4, but I avoided FM5 because of the DLC money grab.

How many of the 450 cars and 26 tracks will be available for play right from the disk?

“450+” cars, 26 tracks.

They’ve stated that’s how much the game is shipping with. Already we’re learning about DLC on top of that, but the 450+ number is what is coming with the base game.

I hope you’re right, but I am skeptical. The announcement linked on the front page doesn’t say the numbers posted will ship with the game.

You shouldn’t be skeptical unless you’re new to Turn 10 and Forza. I own every Forza from FM2 to present, and don’t recall them boasting numbers prior to release but not seeing those car or track figures until months of DLC later. Whatever numbers they sited were release figures, not what it might eventually become later down the road.

I’ve been playing Forza games since they started on the original Xbox. Been playing racing games since Pole Position, Test Drive and Super Monaco GP on the Genesis. I like to think I have some perspective. [Alert: grumpy old man rant] Times have changed since then. Last gen, DLC became an integrated part of what publishers require of developers. By the time All the DLC and packs have been released, if you want the ‘full’ game, you’re spending two to three times the price of the standalone game.

Multiple articles such as this (and there were a bunch!) have me extremely hesitant to jump into the next gen.

In short, I’m looking for convincing evidence that I won’t regret jumping into the current generation.

Terrible quote. There was way more than 40 cars at launch. Did you even play FM5? The whole point of not gifting out cars via level or career was so that some cars would become unicorns in their own right because they were somewhat expensive…if 10 million is really that expensive.

Tokens were added if you were impatient. Cars were more expensive in comparison to FM4 but not quite as high as FM3. There was little grind needed to get credits like in FM3 so the prices of the cars didn’t matter.

Add to the fact that the prices of the cars were dropped in half later on because of stupid complainers and now it takes nothing to buy cars and you’re left with millions of pointless credits.

You don’t need DLC to have a complete game.

How does this message have anything to do with there not being 450+ cars at launch?

Mechberg wrote a nice article about FM6 and lists the announced tracks and about 100 of the cars. I’m surprised I haven’t seen any Hellcat posts or threads yet given how much it was mentioned in the FH2 Car Pack clue threads.

Some great news in there. Watkins Glen and Daytona plus a few of the cars are standouts for me…no not the Hellcat lol

Volvo is one.

EDIT: it also says rock solid 60fps. If Dust reads this I am sure he will say but yes they have had to sacrifice something to achieve it. But if it is truely stable at 60 it is awesome news with night and rain.

Yeah that Volvo should be nice. Also glad that Peugeot is back since they skipped Horizon 2.

Transition would be the “sacrifice.” Day and night but no day into night or vice versa. Same with rain.

Forza 5 is far from a “money grab”. You barely have to play the game and you get massive amounts of money from the Forza Hub. You can get all 90 or so DLC cars for a very cheap price.
All of those cars also go into your garage completely free so you don’t even have to buy them with in game credits. Top that off with the fact that F5 has been around 30 dollars or so for quite some time and you have one of the cheapest racing experiences around. Try buying everything for most of the PC racing sims that you need and I guarantee you will never complain about Forza again.

Hate to break it to you but all the FM4 DLC cost more than all the FM5 DLC, so how is FM5 DLC a money grab?

26 “locations”, many variations or ribbons, so a few are singles, some have 3 or more variations.

Directly from Mechberg’s article…

It’s safe to say that your “many” estimate is too low.

LOL

There’s too much credit being given/gifted out. Credits are supposed to be earned.

I prefer more tracks than more cars. As for DLCs I’ve purchased ONLY select, new contents in FM5. No problem paying for new contents, just have problem seeing pre-released contents being re-packaged along with new contents.

450+ cars and 26 locations sound good to me = about 200% of FM5 launch content!

Will they roll out the Birdcage and Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale again as DLC? I’m trembling in suspense.

The birdcage was in a race in an E3 video with the 250 GTO, so im guessing its in-game…hopefully

The 1961 Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage is one of the already confirmed cars for FM6.

Cheers haha, didnt read the full list :stuck_out_tongue:

No worries. I’m keeping a keen eye on the list and whatever is added once they start revealing the other cars. In fact, I copied the list over to an excel sheet to easier keep track of which cars that are confirmed. Once certain cars (hopefully; or fitting substitutes I can work with) are in for me, I can really go full speed ahead with my planned mega-project for FM6. Especially since I’m going back to being unemployed starting Wednesday (with no hope for a new job any time soon as Sweden comes to a stop in July/August with most people using all of their five weeks of paid vacation), so I should be able to pop out more designs like I did in FM4, FH, and FM5… but in a more controlled fashion - if possible.

Looking forward to seeing them on 6 for sure
