New Forza Aero

We have had the same ugly Forza Aero since FM5 now, it is time to give us something new! Something along the lines of what GT7 has for custom wings would be great!

In the gameplay shown yesterday they still have the same old ugly wing but I hope this can change before release.

The new Forza Motorsport is build from the ground up, but these ugly wings will remain forever.
I would also hope for some better matching Wings for some cars, especially older ones. And adjustable manufacturer wings.

Please make sure to vote if you don’t want this to be the only adjustable aero in FM8. :+1:

I dont mind the traditional wing, on some cars it looks great, but i wouldnt bother in see more wing options specially more race-based ones

Was about to say “Shame this only has 5x votes, it should have more”, then I realized this is the top voted thing in this category. More people should be using this!

But yeah, newer Forza aero is a must. Although the current aero might look good on some cars, imo on 99% of them it looks downright silly (at least on cars that use the wing as opposed to the lip).

In Gran Turismo you can build your own custom rear wing.

I never played it so I don’t know if you can do the same for the front splitter or canards as well but it would be a very welcome feature. Forza is seriously outdated when it comes to customization. It’s something other devs have spent a lot of time (and licenses) on and it made games like NFS very popular (it’s arcade, not sim/simcade). Forza should start to catch up as well and focus more on that. They have the handling physics and graphics down pretty well already.

I dont know why people see with the wing
Sure in 1-0 cars it looks a bit weirdl, but is not that bad as people imply, i guess that most people dislike it bbeacuse in many cars (sadly) is the only customization option

You guys don’t know bad spoilers. lol

Forza 2-4 had the worst spoilers ever. They were black and didn’t even look like they connected to the car.

Thankfully when I asked for a new design, we got one. I think what will help your case is to make an argument on why we should get redesigned ones. Think about it from a designer’s perspective. They don’t go to the creative director and just flat out say, hey we need to redesign the aero, it’s ugly. Sure, it might be true, but from a cost perspective side there’s no solid argument on why that would take precedence over other things money could be put towards.

Motorsport 4 featured at least 6 different rear wing designs: the Gurney Flap, the hatchback wing (2 designs that are still in Forza after FM5), the standard “straight bench”, the GT-R R35 and Mercedes exclusive curved wing, the Lexus LFA exclusive wing and the Ford Sierra exclusive wing. I get why you dislike the “straight bench” wing, but at least it didn’t try to be anything more than what I called it.
Since Motorsport 5 we’ve only had the first two wing types from FM4, while the “straight bench” was replaced with the current “overstylized straight bench”. Literally all it needs to not burn my eyes is some curvature. Look at the Top Secret spoiler on the Skyline R34, this is how a Race Spoiler should look like. Better yet, the GReddy wing on the GT86 and BRZ we used to have until Horizon 5, that is literally THE design for so many cars, imagine this type of mounted wing on the 2012 Aventador or the 458 Italia.
But that’s just the spoilers, look how a small change to the front aero made it look a million times worse coming from X360 to XOne. The Aventador J is the only car in all XOne Forza games to have something reminiscent of the X360 style race aero still available, and that’s how it should be done on all cars.

Maybe also add options like a rear diffuser or a flat underbody as these improve aero too.
The flat underbody might not be the most visible (unless you flip the car), but it should definitely improve performance.

Looking at an earlier trailer ( Forza Motorsport - Official Trailer - Xbox Games Showcase 2023) there does appear to be new aero options for the car shown:

It doesn’t show that it’s adjustable, but it also doesn’t show a brand. So is it Forza’s own aero? Or does someone recognize it from a brand?

I genuinely hope that each car has this amount of original Forza customization, and other bumper/side lip kits as well. Take a look at the BMW M4 F82 in Horizon 5, it has two sets of aftermarket lip kits, one from AC Schnitzer and the other from Streetfighter LA, both enhance the already great styling of the car. Or the Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ between Motorsport 4 and Horizon 4 where the GReddy kits were available. Forza should take notes from them and create something similar for other cars, including better racing aero.

I’m skeptical that this will apply to most cars though, as there has been footage of a variety of 80s/90s cars (Miata, Sierra Cosworth & BMW M3) racing in Forza MotorSport & all three had that same, big, unsightly wing :disappointed:

I understand the feeling, but they didn’t show the upgrades available for those cars. Maybe they are purposefully hiding it for a later reveal?

*takes another breath of Hopium

I don’t EVER want to see this wing again! Can we not just scrap it entirely?! It’s literally one generic wing for every car, I’m telling you.

Another thing that doesn’t make sense to me… Why does the McLaren Senna need to use Forza aero? I don’t see how an ebay generic wing can make more downforce than the huge wing designed specifically for the car. Same goes for the wings on the 911 GT3/2, Camaro ZL1-1LE, etc.

Seriously!! Forza should make some of the OEM wings adjustable too, as many of them actually are irl

well… here we go again
I honestly couldn’t believe it, I really thought, aaw, no, they won’t. but they did.
At this point, I’m not surprised anymore. Really. It’s just not a surprise that on many real racing cars, it says Gran Turismo and not Forza.

Add wheel spacers to the game as well

Forza 2-4 wing and aero in general was a far better than what we currently have.

It surely wouldn’t even be too time or resource hungry to recycle the old assets and give them a refresh? Even as an extra rather than a replacement so there’s options.
