Race Aero

I really hope that in FM7 you can choose which style of race aero you want to install on a car. In FM6 and basically all the other titles that I can remember, there are two types of race aero. The 1st type is the more “ricer” style with the front diffuser and the big rear wing. Those options look good on some cars but definitely not on all cars. The muscle cars have an option for a more low profile front splitter and rear spoiler. I want to put those type of race aero mods on cars like the 2007 Shelby GT500 or Holden HSV. This is purely a cosmetic complaint and really doesn’t drastically effect the game in my mind. But it is slightly annoying when I have a 2002 Camaro SS and it has a wing that looks like it belongs on a Mazda RX-7.

Unfortunately as much as I’d love Forza to either re-model or add more variations for its “adjustable aerodynamics”, I can’t see it happening personally. But I do believe there is more customisation this time around.

I agree 100% to your opinion.
However, there is no possibility that the proposal will be realized.
Unfortunately, Turn 10 does not place importance on car visuals, especially changes due to upgrades.

Small exhaust, narrow rear spoiler, tire offset on the inside. There will be no future to be able to modify these.

So far I’ve only seen the same aero we’ve had since Forza 5, which is a shame. I haven’t upgraded many cars since Forza 4 because the rear wing and dive planes just look silly. The rear wing doesn’t look like any wing on any racecar ever, it looks like rubbish aero on dift and tuner cars that actually cause performance loss rather than gain. A more believable wing would be great. And don’t get me started on the hatchback wing, I don’t know what they were try to go for with that.

I think the Forza gang were going for, “how rice can we make this without cooking up a batch of Uncle Ben’s?”

As much as I agree with some more visual options for aero, I am still greatful that they replaced the awful Park Benches from FM3-4

I was sad about that actually… The only wings looked more like GT wings which I liked.

If nothing else, I hope they at least make the cars that come from the factory with adjustable aero bits to actually be adjustable. They fixed some of them for 6, but there are still a good number that don’t function at all. That’s just lazy.

I much preferred the “park benches” to the rear aero with angled end-plates we got in FM6… And even in FM6, some of the spoilers for the muscle cars, etc, were poorly positioned/offset/too far forward/etc… I was hoping things would improve from game to game, not stay the same or get worse.

The Forza aero parts have been in every Forza game that I’ve ever played … don’t see them going away any time soon.

Expect the same types of upgrades you saw in Forza Horizon 3. Yes, that means that most cars will have a “Forza Aero” option, which will most likely be the only adjustable part outside of a few rare exceptions (Alfa Romeo 155 Q4 etc.).

Sure, we all want our cars to look great, but sometimes the ugliest cars can be the fastest.

I’ve thought the same thing for a long time. you spend all of this time to make an amazing looking vehicle, and then adding a competitive tune changes the aero and wheels which negates so much of your work. A lot of games have options to hide helmets and such, so why not implement something similar in Forza? Maybe make it an option like ABS or TCS. If you use it there is a -5% earnings after races.

Oh I understand it will be a feature in Forza forever, it’s just that with some cars the Forza Aero shouldn’t be needed at all like the Ferrari 599XX as an example. Another thing is how they add a new wing and remove the old one to the Sierra Cosworth RS500. I mean come on, that’s not fair at all! That’s the sort of thing that I’m complaining about. not the wings in general. There’s just a few questionable choices made with it that’s all.

I love this car but hate the rear aero adjustable wing. Just pit a little duck tail ob the RS500 whale tail wing

Sounds like you want more reasonable looking aero bits? Not just some generic tack on wing and splitter? Or if possible, keep the OEM look but just give it a adjustable option that keeps the stock look with the added downforce values? If I recall FM2 had a kind of aero option (sport) that wasn’t adjustable but did add performance that gave it a customized look without hacking up the visual of a car. I haven’t played FH3 but in FH2 they also had aftermarket bumpers and wings that looked good and had adjustable sliders in the tuning section. Unfortunately, T10 usually doesn’t do in-depth dev vids about these kind of things so we probably will not know until the game comes out. Also there isn’t much evolution between FM games (outside of graphics) from one to another so I wouldn’t be surprised if the same aero in FM6 is the same as FM7.

As far as the actual Forza Aero goes. I think a better job can be done with the period correct look. Adding on a modern wing and splitter to a classic car looked tacky and terrible. I also think a high downforce look and a low downforce look would be nice. But as I stated earlier, not much outside of graphics actually changes in between titles.

I just don’t understand how after 5 current gen games we still have the same hideous forza aero, seriously hoping there’s more than one generic wing option. They need to take a look at WTAC or any number of real track events to see the kind of aero that is being run on home-grown race cars.

Agreed, I wish they would just give us back the default customization options from Forza 1. It had like 6 different generic rear wings and even had rear diffusers!

Just gonna throw something out here.
You know those bodykits? Sure they’re mostly for cosmetics but SURELY they’re more functional than that ebay aero (what i like to call forza aero). Why can’t we just use that over it? Unless we can already, I haven’t played Horizon 3. But I’ve seen some pretty questionable cases.
Know the CLK GTR? The forza aero is still there DESPITE the stock parts being fully adjustable and holding identical values. Even the weight is the same!
The MC12. You can’t adjust the stock wing, but adding a small plastic strip makes it adjustable! Same exact thing with the Stratos.
Then there are some absolutely terrible additions, let me list a few.

Most cars with their own active aero. ex: 2017 Ford GT, Carrera GT, McLaren P1, etc. It doesn’t even bother removing the stock wing, it just pastes it either on it or over it. And I recall the Ford GT STILL using its stock wing even with the forza aero.
And another car, the R390. You see those two lines on the back, behind the engine? That’s where the wing was on the R390 GT1. A slot for a MASSIVE and cool wing. Then when you put forza aero on, it’s WAY at the back and nowhere near the wing slot. Surely you can’t just allow us to put the same wing from the GT1 on right? You even have the car model lying around, just let us install it!

I’d rather use some aftermarket aero which certainly seems more functional and looks miles better than that shoddy forza aero. And I’d like to keep the stock wing on cars like the Ford Escort. That’s all I have to say.

Well the good thing about the Rocket Bunny kits in FH3 is they widen the wheel base and allow you to run much fatter tires, which is going to be great for track racing in Forza 7. Also to add on to what you are saying there are a couple of tuner cars (evo, R34, S14) that have great aftermarket wings in customization and what I don’t understand is why those aftermarket wings are not applicable for any other car. Seriously the Blitz wing on the R34 is perfect, if only I could tack it onto my 240sx.
