If they bring back the FM2 penalty time system, then sure. Wall hits, off track, and car collisions all will add time. Wall hits will add 5 seconds minimum. Off track is time*3=penalty. And car collisions add 5 seconds. I would also want super sticky grass/concrete/asphalt and more tire walls in certain areas where corner cutting can and will happen. Lastly any assists that require computer input such as braking assist, steering assist, and friction assist will not be tracked on leaderboards at all. Also rewind laps won’t ever be tracked or add 5 seconds per second of rewind.
I agree with ya Vrruumm, except on the tire barriers. The tires barriers used in FM6/7 looks like they are preparing for a military invasion instead of the real life tracks (ie. the tire barriers on the chicanes on Spa’s last turn versus the open area at the real Spa). The sticky grass/run-off areas immediately made you wish you had stayed on track without detracting from the aesthetics and an overall time penalty would negate the point of cutting corners. A 5 second penalty on most tracks would definitively take you out of the top 1% on the LB.
I have mixed feeling about the assists. I tend to run hardcore because I think/hope it is improving my skills over time, but I’m not bothered if someone bests my time using assist. And with my friends lists, I am use to getting passed! Also, the hardcore LB is a solution, to some extent, if you are trying to gauge yourself against purist and have a somewhat level playing field. Maybe T10 will do a Bounty Hunter Rival on the HC LB someday.
Online, well that’s a different animal all together. I rarely race online (if I wanted to deal with other people’s spoiled children, I would go back to being a Drill Sergeant in the military!). I do like the idea of ghosting crashers and allowing kicks from lobbies, but the real problem exists with the people playing and I think there is little T10 can do to fix that. If they figure something out, they should bottled it and sell as a cure for society in general.
After I reread what I wrote, I do see the flaws. I wouldn’t mind the walls would be for corners that can be massively cut. For instance going straight on Monza at turn 1, having a wall there makes sense, however the walls that go up to the apex of each corner should be slow grass/tarmac. This will ultimately reduce the amount of walls on each track. Walls only to be put in high advantage areas. Slow grass placed in low advantage areas.
The OP is tier 10, so not a newb. Surely should know better?
All I want is a dirty indicator back in career races. On some tracks I get enough clean air to hotlap on tracks/classes I probably wouldn’t bother to hotlap otherwise. And with some tracks being extremely tetchy with what constitutes dirty (Prague short either side of the tunnel for instance) means the only way I know I’ve dirtied a lap from that is when I fail my ‘stay on track for race’ mod.
Nope I like the dirty laps. With friction assist enabled people would be short cutting tracks everywhere getting an advantage. Dirty laps promote clean driving.
People like you is what make forza terrible, of course there should be a “dirty” time for those who go out of bounds. Leaving the track corrupts the result of a lapt time, literaly the entirety of motorsport works like this. But because you can keep your car on the track or put in a competetive lap time without cheating doesn’t mean we should adhere to your crazy wish…
And we have a winner forger about sticky grass and what not off track remove all the ugly tyre walls you can not see at night and make a laser grid arround the entire track, break the laser grid get set back on track at 0mps and ghosted Make any contact with walls that last longer than 0.05 seconds reset on the track at 0mph ghosted all problems fixed. for MP any way.
How about just letting me know when my lap is dirty in single player. Unless my new fastest lap is a slower time I don’t know if my time is clean or dirty until I check the leaderboard after the race.
I kind of like the idea regarding the reset on the track at 0 mph and ghosted for leaving the track. I would go as far as including intentional ramming also. It would not be hard for the game to determine intentional vs rubbing while racing… going into a 25 mph corner at 75 mph and ramming into anyone unlucky enough to be in his way… pretty obvious. not for example same corner and someone trying to late brake and comes in at say 30mph and lightly bumps opponent car well not very nice but competitor may have seen an opportunity but missed the window by a bit… I am not sure but something should be done to help alleviate the griefing that is going on in the multiplayer online races. I have been in some awesome lobbies where people were racing cars like they really owned them and cared about them and yet other lobbies where people would go out of their way to run into anything that was in their way… It goes without saying any kind of penalty system would be hard to implement and keep everyone happy.
and on the no dirty lap difference on the LB ABSOLUTELY NOT
