…has the dirty lap symbol notification been shrunk down and tucked on top of something else? I dont want to have to squint and search to see if ive blown the current lap at mach speeds, 9 times out of 10 now i dirty the lap when looking to see if its dirty yet. Why cant it be very noticeable and unobstructing? Like a long thin hazard sign thats just a thin bar along the top of the screen that drops dowm when you dirty?
Or even just make the current version yellow and perhaps slightly larger so it requires less actual LOOKING up there at it, and could be noted with just a glance. I, like the previous poster, dirtied a lap last night while looking for the indicator. Doesn’t need to be huge or flashing or anything, just slightly more noticeable than the current version at a glance.
Yes but when the spilts flash up on screen they’re noticeable. I take a glance that’s it. But in terms of dirty laps, the only time I check for that is usually before the first corner & after. That’s it. I’ll notice if I’ve dirtied my lap when the splits pop up anyway.
Simple. Because if you are trying to put in a clean lap (for example in a race, you want to improve your grid starting position for the next race), once you have dirtied it you know you don’t need to bother taking care to be clean any more, until the next lap. Right? So no, you don’t only need to look at it at the finish line.
Why, with all the multitude of problems this game has, they ‘fixed’ this thing which was not broken to begin with, and nobody asked for, is baffling. Hopefully they will see sense and revert it back to how it was.
For those that purposely cut to gain time how about a warning sign which covers half the screen for a few seconds!
Some good ideas above devs. New sign is too small. I like to know when I have dirtied a lap at the time of dirtying without having to take my eye off the action.
Should be easily identified from peripheral vision.
Your statement makes it sound like if you accidentally dirty your lap you dont really care about running clean for the rest of that lap, which is of course the wrong attitude for racing.
Nobody who cares about being competitive in a race will care about running clean laps per se - it isn’t an advantage and is often a disadvantage.
The only times it is necessary are in rivals, or if you want to improve your grid position for the following race, ie. any clean lap trumps faster but dirty ones.
Most regulars I race with pride themselves on racing a clean line even if it has been dirtied somehow. People who cut to gain an advantage are cheats and would likely get kickedfrom the lobby if enough clean racers are there to kick them.
There are still lobby leaderboards which people want to do well on. Not just rivals.
The worst are the fast guys who still cut for advantage. Scum.
