Should just have one lap time and that’s it, the only thing that should invalidate a lap is rewind. you can say people will cut corners and across grass but to me that would make it more fun and why isn’t there a announcer for when you do a best/record lap

If you want to go off road, play horizon. Pretty much same car list.
This game is supposed to simulate a real racing experience. No one is cutting corners in real life, not without a penalty. Dirty laps are our penalty here.

Let rewind remain but let off road invalidate a lap.

I’m OK with the way it is right now, and it is pretty forgiving in the first place I can go on a little grass and cut corners a little and surprisingly it often doesn’t count it as a dirty lap. It will break the game if there is no penalty for off road, it will become Forza Horizon basically

Yeah. IIRC, you need to have all 4 wheels making contact with grass OR hit an obstacle to get a dirty lap. Even if I’m not correct on that, I have to agree that it is very forgiving.

I think it’s fine the way it is and always has been. Don’t think anyone really wants bad drivers topping the leaderboards.

We need consistency. Am I a bad driver if I hit the curb on the first left hander @ Prague short, going ito the tunnel? Or the left hander after the tunnel on the same track? All the while I can cut the first corner @ Hockenhiem till the cows come home, with no penalty.

Your lap time is saved no matter what, if you like cutting corners try to get the best dirty time if that floats your boat. There is an announcer that tells you you broke a record but since you cant race cleanly i guess you never heard it😜

Something like this exists in World of Warships: if you hit or shoot a team mate, your ship is painted pink for several games afterwards.
We need pink cars with rear bumper stickers stating: Caution, I lack proper driving skills.

Just on Yas Marina alone, you can take 4 seconds/lap off your time by cutting corners. Removing the dirty laps would remove so much skill from the game that it wouldn’t be worth playing anymore. Its already been dumbed down an insane amount, what more do you want?

Wow not sure how to reply to this thread. All I will say is that the system seems to work fine as is most of the time. And if you allowed corner cutting then the people at the top of the boards would still look exactly the same

I’d like to see the Dirty lap go further. How about a different symbol for corner cutting, drafting, contact. Would be nice to know what dirtied someone’s lap.

Agreed. But the stick sitting majority would never go for it.
I’d settle for the more realistic goal of the dirty lap triangle showing up in-race regardless of game mode.
Yup, that used to exist and obviously the logic is in there to allow the triangle warning to be in every race type. It would be helpful to know that a car 1km back drafting me for 1/4 of sec and apparently it gave me .0001 boost to dirty my lap. That way, i could relax ahead and just wait next lap to try to push more. But sadly this feature only exist in rivals now it seem, which is dumb considering the game record your best lap time at all time.
