So as not to appear like I’m complaining just to complain, I’ve been playing FM23 since it released in early access for Premium Edition buyers a year and a half ago.
The montthly, free content updates, fixes, and quallity of life improvements that Turn 10 have worked into the game since then are what keep me coming back and always looking forward to what’s next… even if what’s next is going to be Turn 10 slowly intergrating more paid DLC, like the Racing Heroes Car Pack, into their updates.
I don’t mind at all throwing them a few bucks every few months to show my support, at this point, they’ve more than earned that.
Watching the replay of my first run on Fujimi Kaido is a video game moment I’m going to remember, like the first time I played NFL 2K on the Sega Dreamcast, or Spies vs Mercs in Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, or the ending of the Last of Us Part II.
… and that’s where a small, trivial detail of FM23 bugs me.
The replays.
Where is the make and model name of the car you’re watching??
It’s simply not there.
A person can see the inside tempature of the car’s rear, passenger tire, or a circle graph indicating the diretional forces of the car’s body roll… but the NAME of the car?
Yeah, not there!
During replays, there’s a panel that can be pulled up on the bottom right of the screen that shows ‘driver information’..
Turn 10… right there’s a perfect spot to list the make and model of what car that player is driving.
Window reflections. You can’t turn them off without going into the game files. It should be an option. In real life you use depth perception to look past them and rarely even notice it. But on a flat screen, even transparent, they are heavily distracting.
I wish, in the livery editor, “scale” came before “stretch”. Being used to FH5, I do alot of teeth grinding when the vinyl gets distorted when I’m simply trying to enlarge it.
Traditionally the results table of a race would be explicit about calling drivers a lap down, a lap down.
Content creator irk…sun banners & window stickers on og liveries but won’t let you paint on them when you want to do your own custom version. Most of these cars are ok on Horizon 5 to paint but for some reason Motorsport won’t let you touch them.
All cars should have the option to have them on, & tyre writing just like the vast majority of real race cars have.
I am a bit of photo sensitive and what bothers me is the worse level of detail at the car mirrors on PC. It seems even in 4K resolution the mirrors still are rendered in VGA. Especially at the night time the other cars or lights are really blurry in the mirrors of your own car and the light itself leave a trail like the cursor of a mouse did back then on LCD Displays in the mid nineties…
Did I make any changes to my car’s gear ratios? If I press A afterwards, I still have to press A again to confirm the changes. A workaround I found is to press B and then confirm the changes, but it’s still a weird quirk I find annoying at times.
Also, if I want to turn HDR on for my game, I have to make some sort of change in the options in order for it to activate in-game, which is weird.
That the Acura Integra is marked as US. Or that the Ford Escort and Falcon are marked as US. Or that the Bugatti EB110 is marked as French. Or that the Vauxhall Corsa is marked as British.
Add sharpness for Full HD monitors so that the picture is not soapy. I’m turning on “TAA and DLSS” terrible soap graphics. I turn off “TAA and DLSS” but instead of soap ladders, there is no normal smoothing. The game has terrible graphics.
After each check-in, there is a black screen and sound in the “free play” mode, and nothing else can be done. The result is not saved. This mode is impossible to play. When will you fix it? It’s been over a year now.
I paid $80 for this game, which is a lot of money for my country. Can I have a normal game that I can play?
