Agreed. I’m going to try this strategy to see if I can help some others complete the trial now that I’ve done it. I was lucky and got it on the 4th try with some decent teammates.
I generally mute my microphone while racing, however I might even try telling my teammates I’m going to block drivatars, however, sometimes English isn’t their first language.
The real challenge with this is getting to the front quickly and cleanly before the lead drivatar pulls away, however even holding back most of the drivatars would help increase the odds.
Now that is the kind of festive spirit I think PG were going for with this challenge
I may well do it again to help others complete it as well, it’s more fun helping people beat drivatars in that way than using the same tactics to help one group of strangers beat another group of strangers.
Yeah, in S2 the Mosler is hampered by being too close to the S2 PI limit in stock form with all that grip. It has 4 different engine choices but you can’t get much more than 700 hp out of it in S2 class unless you don’t go for race weight reduction, but it’s better with the race weight reduction.
It’s really meant for X class, where it’s a complete monster. I think it probably has a higher top speed with the Lambo V12, but I’ve only tested with the V8 Racing engine so far. But with that engine, it hits 274+ at the highway speed trap and takes the highway turn without lifting at 270+ without even having the tires squeal at all. I did the Highway grind 5 lap race in under 15 minutes, with a best lap of under 2:54. I did a Forzathon with a speed zone that I’ve done countless times and beat my best by more than 9 mph … with the minimum amount of downforce possible … and that’s more than 20 mph faster than the 3 star target.
Then I took it to the festival drag strip and got under 8 seconds with race tires and a race set up. I was in 5th at the finish line. 0-100 with drag tires supposedly takes over half a second less, so it’s probably a contender at the drag strip, too.
The Mosler is just one of the very best X class cars. Down on power in S2 class, though.
The Senna is a hypercar and the Centenario isn’t in the same ballpark in regards to handling. The Centenario is very good S2 car, though. It’s well balanced, like the FXX. But both the Centenario and FXX don’t get to 2.00 lateral Gs at 120 mph. I would assume that the Centenario is better than the Senna in the two point to point races, but I doubt it’s close at Holyrood Circuit.
The Lakehurst Sprint is one of my main test tracks, and the Senna and Centenario are very close in terms of best times, for me:
Senna 2:41.1
Centenario 2:41.4
I recommended the Senna to a friend to use for this challenge, as I feel it’s a bit easier to handle for someone around top 20% sort of level, and it being available from the forzathon shop helped.
If i remember right at bamburgh circuit there was 0,1s between senna and centanario. But senna is really easy to handle even without forza aeros. Senna is very good pick for this championship, im gonna run it next time with Bugatti veyron.
This one took a few tries but I did get the car. We had to win all 3 rounds. Its inevitable someone has to run interference on the AI. A few of them missed checkpoints and didnt get reset back. You probably wont find enough good players to race clean against the AI and actually win.
My guess is that they are catering to new players from the holiday purchases. Same thing happened last year with FM7’s specialty dealer going on re-runs.
Did the challenge yesterday when it went live and had no issues finishing it, so i can’t really complain. However i bought the game a couple days ago so basically everything is new, same goes for the Forzathon shop.
I don’t want to be the guy who quits out during the first race, but I was when I gave this a try yesterday.
Fairly early in the race, I had a teammate punt me into a wall, not a great start. However, got back into things, checked the leader board…one of our guys in 2nd, I’m in 5th, the other 4 are the last 4 positions, not looking good. I then get passed by a driveatar, in the same car as me, who after getting in front of me starts to fishtail. I’m flat out, no traction issue, and am making up zero ground. This driveatar then slides off track into the grass, hits two bumps, getting air each time and rotating the car both times, all the while I’m still not making up an inch on him. I just accepted that this was a complete waste of my time and walked away.
I’ve wasted way too much time on this pointless co-op. Your own teammates purposely ram you out of the flags consistently. I guess people are too STUPID to realize they’re just making sure they don’t get the prize if they do that. Such a COMPLETE waste of time for a car that isn’t exactly the nicest looking anyway. I just don’t have the patience for the idiots that I’m constantly encountering while playing this game. It’s amazing that they managed to take a game that was my absolute favorite and turn it into something I loathe with bad decisions and performance killing updates.
So, I’m now part of Mosler Britain Owners’ Club and got the cheevo in the process.
This event is not named “Trial” for nothing… The Drivatars, on top of being competitive (bring an aero tune and AWD just in case), will actually try to ram you off the road in similar fashion to how players do (not sure if this is exclusive to Trial or not). Avoiding players, whether unskilled or grievous, was easy enough, as player behavior is more predictable and, for all that’s worth, we’re on the same team.
First attempt was aborted by Drivatar ramming, second one resulted in a 2-1 (with one futile win by yours truly) and a prize. Not a bad challenge with actual cooperative people and the Mosler feels rewarding considering how good it is, but unnecessary to lock cars like these behind such events.
You’re supposed (encouraged?) to ram the Drivatars back, so as to help your lesser teammates. Every defeat of a Drivatar by another player adds 100 points to the team’s tally (while deducting the same amount from the Drivatar team, I suppose). Remember crew racing in Need for Speed Carbon? This is actually it, except with humans. You had NPCs who could block opponents for you in that game, and you can certainly form a crew in FH4 with a couple members assigned to blocking and grieving. Pretty bad for solo players, which is why there needs to be an option to race solo.
This is why I feel the people asking for fair racing in Horizon should look elsewhere. The thought of e-sports teams wasting time with Forza Horizon competitive play is ludicrous. Forza Horizon is not Forza Motorsport and fair rules need not apply here. Grieving is ingrained in the DNA of the game and there are modes that implicitly tell you to do just that in order to win.
The fact that this car is a coop event is total bullcrap. I have tried to get it five times. The first time my team actually won but I didn’t get the car. Since then, I have come back and absolutely mastered each course, except for the fact that EVERY TIME I play that my team either sucks or races like they’re on drugs, ramming into everything, including teammates. I know I will eventually get it, but I’m just angry that this is a coop event.
Not sure what to tell you I got the car when I completed the event. Your team does have to win 2 out of the 3 rounds in order to get the car. So if that doesn’t happen you will not get it. Also I’d you want to be safe set your AI to Unbeatable beforehand.
