More Than One Track Per Update

There must be a few people on the forum who might be T10 employees, or at the very least, Microsoft employees. I don’t see any reason for standing up for T10 so vehemently. Anyone who’s worked in any kind of industry will know, you can easily adjust staffing to fill holes and fix issues in a product line. Yes, it is possible to put out two tracks in one month. T10 just doesn’t choose to do it. Simple as that. Anyone is welcome to refute my take on this but I surely won’t be drawn into any arguments over this. Just my opinion, and I’m sticking to it.

You will never stop complaining about Forza games. I have seen you around here for years. Why should I bother attempting any genuine discussion when you yourself ignore everything I said, and show that you have no clue what game development looks like?

Adding a few logos likely took a developer a couple hours and it helps fund these future tracks that are in development. What’s your problem?

I’m not standing up for T10, I’m dismissing the useless claim that they should simply make tracks at a pace no other developer does, and that they’re bad for not doing so.

You can’t “easily” adjust staffing to quadruple output. Microsoft already has bad hiring standards for their game development companies, Turn 10 isn’t going to get permission to quadruple their track teams when they’re likely struggling for profit as it is since the poorly received release.

There are so many real issues with this game, why go after the one area they’re doing exceedingly well in and demand they be held to an even higher standard than any other racing game developers?

I made this thread and a few others on the basis of getting opinios from the other players of the forza community, so I would appreciate it if you didn’t say that this thread has a lack of knowledge.

I call them like I see them, Jack. Right now, Playground Games and Polyphony Digital are doing more with what they have than Turn 10 seems to be interested in aiming for. Now, maybe if Turn 10 does some emergency house cleaning very, very soon and starts dropping the hammer like they need to be (again, VERY, VERY SOON), I’ll view this game with something other than disgusted scorn. But until then…they made their bed and they keep begging players like me to re-make it so they can lie down. No. No, I won’t. If you don’t like that, you can go back to the other place and whine about how we’re being so mean.

GT7 has had one track added since FM released.

FM is adding one track every two months

Ask anyone on GTPlanet, they have been desperate for a new track since Grand Valley was added over a year ago. (Lake Louise, added in November, is a snow track that people were generally not happy with.)

… of content and functionalities carried over directly from the previous game basically unchanged. Does GT Sport and consequently GT7 have the exact same Upgrade and Tuning System as GT6 and earlier? Do they have the same Livery Editor as GT6 and earlier? Do they share models of all pre-existing cars and tracks apart from a select few? If the answer to any of these is yes then my argument falls apart and I’ve defeated myself, but if it isn’t then that’s the difference between the development of FM and GT Sport. Don’t expect people to be happy with the same things over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again with a label “Built From The Ground Up” slapped on top of them. Too many things could’ve been changed for the better…

None of FM’s added tracks are new, or even redone for that matter; any changes that have been made to them have only come after months of outcry and - in the case of Daytona - public shaming. At least Gran Turismo’s returning tracks have seen changes upfront to their layouts, for better or worse.

And frankly, for all of your complaining about Gran Turismo’s speed in adding new content, you plainly ignore that Forza has enough recycled content in the tank to go for years. They couldn’t even hold to what I assumed would be a Year 1 schedule full of recycled content. At the rate Turn 10 is currently moving, it could very well be Year Three before genuinely new content gets added to the game…assuming Microsoft doesn’t tire of the nonsense and pull the plug first.

Well GT7 recicled a lot from GT sport isn’t it?
But you know, the neighbor’s grass is always greener

There’s a greater chance of Turn 10 becoming a Horizon support studio than one that doubles its environment and code teams.

That’s like FM only carrying over things that debuted in Motorsport 7, meaning the Upgrade System, the Livery Editor, the tracks or the car models would all be replaced with brand new elements for FM. Had that been the case, I would’ve excused the lack of content because it all would’ve probably been well made. Keep in mind, what’s wrong with importing the aforementioned features from previous games blocks Forza from having things like functional ECUs, Tuning that impacts the PI, more Upgrade levels, more in-depth customization, or even different kinds of livery mapping.

A crucial difference is that Polyphony Digital consistently produce car and track models of the highest quality. That’s why the time they take can be justified. Compare the details of any car model in the two games and you’ll find Forza lacking in almost every regard. It’s even been claimed that some FM car models, like the Nissan Silvia S15, date back to Motorsport 1 released in 2005 for the original Xbox.

Any way you look at it, you can’t in earnest think that T10 are taking their time because they’re actually rebuilding the game from the ground up the way PD has. It’s dubious if T10 even rescanned any tracks since inaccuracies from past games have showed up similarly in this one. Since so much of the game appears to be recycled content that would require relatively little additional work, it’s entirely reasonable to expect them to release recycled tracks at a faster pace.

Appreciate the effort to encourage the exchange of ideas. And the effort to start the thread. For the most part, it’s been a great exchange of ideas and knowledge.

I don’t think they have enough team members to handle delivering multiple tracks every month. I believe they at least have more than one track team, probably 4 or 5 teams, but the teams probably consist of a handfull of people. And each track will need to be updated work with the new lighting engine, and have its road mesh fixed. Then the placement of bystanders, track side decal and even vegetation isn’t something that happens at the press of a button.

A while ago, Maple Valley from FM7 was modded into Assetto Corsa. Initially that “mod” was more of a direct rip than anything else. The standard trees and textures that Kunos uses were the only differences between the FM7 version and the modded track. It was undriveable! The undulations from the track mesh had the car bouncing violently, and when you attempted to cross the bridges expansion joints at speed, the car would recieve suspension damage and you’d get launched 20 feet into the air. Over time the modders made the track playable, and fixed a lot of the problems, but at the mod’s 1.0 state, the track was a mess.

Turn 10 was telling the truth about the tracks needing to be reworked. Heck, the lighting engine alone justifies the work.

If it’s going to the two month schedule I’d be somewhat happier if they announced what they are working on and the next track is going to be in the off month.

It’s better to know what’s coming a month out instead of a few days

Yes and no. If the track is something the communtiy dislikes, then its best to keep that card close to your cheast. Lets say the next track is only Boomslang from the snake courses and they announce it early. I think the uproar would be deafening. Now if they release it, and the uproar happens, they can ask for forgiveness. Afterall, its easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

Unless it’s Road Atlanta, Mount Panorama, Long Beach or Zolder I’ll be unhappy anyway so giving us the info on what’s being worked on will either give me something to look forward to and say happy things or if it’s not I’ll grumble like an old man and move on…

But if it’s a track that’s outside of the top 10 voted for I’ll strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger!!

Guess I’d like a bit more communication from Turn10 to do with planned tracks and to cut the boredom of the months long waits

If the track is booger hooler dirt track and they announced it. Some might like it, some might not. If the track is Sebring or Sanoma, same thing. Never gonna please everyone. So just announce it and move on. Let me whine if I want to or rejoice if I like it. And we can all just deal with it. At least we’d know and they’d be communicating.

In my opinion, two new tracks per update would be ideal and greatly appreciated. Most of the time, I spend around two weeks on a new track before it gets a little bit boring. I just wish they would increase the number of tracks per update to two tracks or one large track, or occasionally give us two tracks with an update. The game is evolving nicely but also slowly, and this would be a way to keep the fun at a constant level, at least for me. Fictional tracks are especially highly requested and should require less work than real-life tracks since they don’t need to be 100% accurate. Am I the only one thinking this way?
