I don’t race leagues a lot - mostly one race each Sunday to get the reward for the week.
I notice that it’s happened that I’ve lost points from week to week. I thought that was not supposed to happen? What gives? Did the system change?

8ve seen it happen during current week. Finish one day at tier 2, come back next day, same league races and I’m tier 3 at the start.
Every time the season changes which is once a month you lose a tier level. Mid-month usually. So if you don’t play for a while you may find yourself in a lower division. There may only be a certain amount of people say allowed to be in Pinnacle and if they don’t play it gives others a chance.
You also lose points if you quit mid race
Did they ever fix the points system or is it still that +/- starting position bs that punished clean laps?
The original points-scoring system heavily favoured the number of places you gained during a race, which incentivised players to start at the back.
Nowadays, the system is more weighted towards your general finishing position regardless of where you start from, so “racing normally” will typically yield the best results.
OK I’ll have to give it a try again. Ghost and spec racing were almost unplayable back then.
Hard to say. Really depends upon the skill of those you are racing against. Sometimes I will get points still for finishing in a worse position than I started. It takes into account your skill level compared to others you are racing against. I always go for clean laps. Sure you may start up front because of it. If you do start up front and have a bad race or you just can’t compete against the other guys up front it will even out in the next race an you probably won’t start up front the next time. It seems to balance out. I don’t see that as a problem anymore. It was at first because of all the rampant cutting. Lobbies would empty after every race over positioning. Things have calmed down for a while now. You get your odd cutter but not too many. People don’t leave based on their starting position anymore for the most part.
It definitely changes over month to month. I always drop from tier 1 down to tier 2 BUT the incentive of gaining that tier back is 500K. I think thats a fair trade
Has anyone determined how the ‘opponent skill’ points are calculated? I was in a room with 23 other drivers in Pinnacle, and at least half were Band 1. Most of the rest were at Band 2. I’m at Band 4, went from 22nd to 7th, and was dinged -7 points for opponent skill.

Your TrueSkill rank vs the average TrueSkill rank of all other players who started the race.
If you’re seeing negative figures, you’re playing against weaker opponents.

I dont know what it is now after that last update but I would assume moving that far up from starting in the back would yield at least 100+. I mean it always has in my experience. Occasionally if you start in the front and stay in front until the finish will yield a decent increase as well
