Can anyone explain why league points get deducted, i have just had a very good week in Elite, moving from band 3 to band 1 ( 150 points short of pinnacle ). Only to turn on Forza some 16 hours later to have lost 386 points, putting me from 7734 rank 1 ,to 7348 rank 3. In this last week i have done 20 races with 14 wins, very frustrating , but it wont stop me on my quest for pinnacle

Your league points decay over time. It’s a gameplay treadmill to keep you playing, nothing more.
That is a very nice way to put it. 
Every 4 weeks it drops you one level. You must have not had a lot of points in rank 1 Elite to drop 2 levels. So this week, last night at 8PM Eastern was the changeover to the new set of repeating leagues incurring a level drop for everyone. Just keep playing and you get there eventually like everyone else. Next drop will be Oct 10. I generally try to fill up on points before that happens so there isn’t much work to do when it drops. They do this to prevent those who have stopped playing in the leagues to retain their league rank. Ghost is a quick way to get points perhaps I will see you there. There is a lot of cutting unfortunately by the people who do not really belong in Pinnacle in the ghost. Most are still bad despite that but there are a few cutting experts.
