Hello everybody I’ve been thinking about getting a Racing Wheel I’m not the best at racing games but I like them what one would you guys recommend for a new player
I got a Logitech G920 a couple of months ago and I’m very pleased with it. It’s got force feedback which makes it a bit more expensive. There are some wheels without FFB which may suit you if you’re on a budget.
It’s not a cheap endeavor because you also have to get a table or something to mount it on - you can’t use it in your lap.
Here’s a pic of my rig:
There are a couple of threads on wheels already including a very large one pinned to the top of this forum.
There is definitely enough information to allow you to make an informed decision on what you are getting yourself in for.
Get the Logitech G920. Best bang for your buck wheel setup out right now. Bought mine when it released and I really like it. Only downside is that you have to buy the shifter separate which isn’t even a big deal in my opinion. Lastly all you have to do is either buy or build your own rig. Lots of fun doing that, check out “inside sim racer” on youtube. They have a do it yourself video on how to build a racing rig that is really good. I actually built the same rig they do and it’s a game changing experience.
I own the G920 and it has two downsides for me and more for others.
My two are the lack of feel on centre which is exasperated by FM6 FFB lacking on centre feel and the shifter that feels like a toy.
I do enjoy my wheel.
In short: Fanatec is the best but priciest. TX gives good feel, has some extra configurability than G920 but can cost more than a G920. G920 is a good budget option if you can find them cheap.
The Fanatec is too expensive, the G920 is using 5 year old technology for $400 which is ridiculous, the Thrustmaster Tx is the best option in my opinion. Its been out for 2 years, many problems have been ironed out., there’s a bunch of add ons which are pricey but aren’t necessary, and it can be found for under $300. I don’t know why everyone keeps saying the G920 is a bargain, its a reskinned g27 which came out in 2010, there’s also no add ons for it other than the shifter which feels like a toy compared to the th8a. These ffb wheels are an investment so you should do as much research as you can before buying one. I would also suggest you have more than just forza to use it on though, its too large of a purchase to just get it for one game, especially one that really doesn’t do ffb wheels any justice.
I paid $322 Australian Dollars for my G920 with Shifter included.
Definite bargain.
That is a bargain, wheel prices are generally pretty expensive here in Australia.
To the OP, there will be a new wheel coming to market from fanayec for the Xbox one soon, if your not in a hurry to get a wheel I would wait and see what they offer so you can make the best decision
I got the thrustmaster tx with alcantara evo wheel , wheel stand pro v2 ,shifter and pedals all from thrust master and this is my first forc feed back wheel i ever got and OMG! I love this set up freaking awesome. Im just trying it on Fh2 so far. Im getting forza 6 and project cars. Cant wait for xmas. The whole set up cost me a Grand 1,000 i ordered from amazon. He alcantara evo 599x wheel was almost impossible to get i got lucky picking one up before out of stock AGAIN.
I am happy with my Thrustmaster TX. It’s great except the left pull ffb bug on Forza 6. This only happens after like 40 mins of play and you can fix it by going to the main menu and back again so it’s really just a nuissance bug but a bug none the less but only happens on forza6. You can get different rims for it too if you choose as well.
Also it is all smooth belt driven motor the provides strong ffb if you want. No outdated loud clunky gear drive like other wheel bases. Fanatec is a nice base but is too expensive and you should only get that if you plan to play on pc and/or xbox and ps4. Let us know what you do and whatever choice you make it is a game changer. There is no greater feeling bangin through the gears, catching that apex and accelerating out of the corner. Just make sure you get one with ffb or it’s pointless really.
I’m very happy with my TX too. At first I was a bit annoyed by it, but after a couple hour learning curve and messing with settings you get used to it.
I finally pieced together my whole new rig. I bought everything separate and made my own. I just need to run all the wires through the frame this week.
Ordered the TX, GT28 wheel, TH8 shifter, pedals, then a real Sickspeed bucket racing seat, full gaming rig frame, 49" 4k tv, soundbar with subwoofer and tv/soundbar mount, of course an xbox one with Forza6. I work for a high-end car dealer and we sell Cobra’s so I even made a Power Lap board where me and friends can do a power lap in a Shelby Cobra on Leguna Seca.
Simply put, I’m a Thrustmaster customer for life now. Once I got used to it it, it’s alot better than my old Logitech ever was!
