Second batch as there’s a upload limit
Thanks, will try it out. Hope they will continually improve sound on both the S7s.
I forgot to check if I was running any ballast and will post back if so.
Edit, It’s running with medium ballast
It’s just so dumb.
Spend the time and money to invest in intricately model the engine bay which you can only bother to see in photo mode.
Don’t bother to capture any legit sound files. Just synthesise a few generic, flat sounds and copy past them across entire categories of car.
Cheap shortcuts instead of the effort to go the extra mile for what is supposed to be a product of passion for an enthusiast audience.
The sounds not getting improved guys. It would go against the artistic direction of the audio director (or whatever his title is). EVERY car is thin, lacking presence, washed/hollow bathtub sounding. There are no more distortion fx which gave loud cars more character.
The overall artistic direction of the game is boring. That’s never going to change unless they really go back to the drawing board. That takes time. Also, there are too many iconic engines in this game that sound completely wrong; like cheap synth plug in’s sliding up and down with a frequency knob.
I’d say they get to FM7 post V12 sound update at best. Still no where near where the sound used to be in 4-6.
They were trying to compete with AC and its cabin sounds in FM7/FH4, but they were lazy and it backfired.
I don’t know how everything is mixed, but cars need more presence, more low mid meat, low end bass for V8’s, more direct sound in chase cam. Too much is missing. Convolution reverb is the furthest thing from true car audio. Everything from the exhaust system to the reverb in the places with the most reflective surfaces to an empty airfield are completely intelligible IRL. A basic ray traced reverb would more than suffice.
My ears aren’t trained because there’s no way that I’m training my ears for 80 hours a week. For someone who just does basic A/B’s to crack the V12 conundrum, me and many others can tell that a lot of these car sounds are wrong. It’s far across the board and even when it’s right, it’s lacking.
They truly need to go back to square one, and they’re not doing that, so I’ll just wait for whatever major sound update they roll out. My hopes aren’t high for this sound team though, mainly because all of this is artistic direction. Every car they add right or wrong just doesn’t shine.
Not to mention that Turn 10 did the most evil decision they made, which is winning “Racing Game of the Year”, despite their game performing very poorly. Broken games don’t deserve a victory, and it’s very unfortunate and it’s beyond me.
Something strange I stumbled upon last night… I decided to start building a Honda S800. Threw on some upgrades (including race exhaust and intake), started the D Class Open series, began driving.
Now what sound do you think a high-revving <1L four cylinder shouldn’t quite sound like? Because I have an unshakeable feeling that it uses a V8 Ferrari sound… Whaaaaaat??
I don’t know if anybody else has pointed it out already, but man… That’s a thinker
Report it immediately under the Car Issues sub-forum. You know the thread title format. Use that and mention as many details in the main body as possible.
It’ll will start getting votes, trust me, and may get fixed.
How is the Lexus IS350 soo wrong, like a wierd 4 banger😂
Are you able to post any vids of it as I’m interested in hearing that, or post the setup you made and I’ll go and apply it to one of mine cause I’ll drive it all day long (after many restarts) if it sounds like a Ferrari!
They all sound wrong - only a very small handful of cars that actually sound like their real life counterparts - even then, there are inconsistencies and details missing.
Report it in the ‘Car Issues’ sub forum.
Well. It seems that Xbox FINALLY fixed the surround mode bug with this last update. Let’s hope they don’t break it again. Everything sounds better on my rig. FH4, FH5, NFS Heat, FM. Everything.
When was this Xbox update?
16th according to my xbox. 4:39AM EST.
Are you referring to the 500-ish MB update?
Not sure if I’ve gotten it yet. May already have or might have to check manually.
Idk how big it was. Just know that there was a xbox system update the 16th and I no longer have to roll my surround mode workaround to get things to sound right.
We are 10 months in - apart from the documented sound improvements to the LFA and Supra, where are the other sound improvements? There are dozens and dozens of car specific threads in the Car Issues sub forum.
When will the McLarens, Ferraris, Porsches, Nissans, and BMWs e.g. get their proper sounds?
Why are we made to wait so long?
Why are the developers maintaining radio silence? Are they hiding somewhere in a corner laughing their heads off? “You will never get eeeth, you will never gethhh eeeth, la la la la…” Borat voice
We really need a toggle for trans sound, it can be unusually loud.
Btw, decided to do a V12 engine swap in the Reventon thinking that maybe it will sound better as I can’t stand the fact that it has a copied pasted sound of the Aventador.
Holy moly… It’s the same wrong sound of the FXX-K/LaFerrari/812
Ironically, I even had an 812 and FXX-K Evo pass me by during a race… ALL cars including mine sounded the same
Just when I try to get into this game something happens that makes me want to rage quit and uninstall it
I think in FH5 the generic V12 you can put into most cars is a Lamborghini one, so the other way around.
