This may sound odd but I’m less worried about the graphics and more concerned about game play. Give me the game play of FM4 or FM3 with better graphics than FM4. I also want all the courses from the previous editions. I’d be happy if this is all FM6 did. Let the fancier upgrades come with FM7.
I believe that depends on what the improvement is. Model wise, Forza is at a point of diminishing returns. Some cars needs updates, most needs some sort of suspension and drive train underneath them, and that’s about it. Forza could really improve it’s lighting system. Nothing seems reflect light. Not the ground, not cars near you, not the concrete barriers with white banners on them, not even chrome. No light bounces around near the ends of tunnels, or gives you enough to see when driving through a tunnel. To take a “realistic” picture one needs to jack up the exposure and balance it with the contrast and brightness just to fill in the lack of reflected light in Forza 5’s game engine.
Granted, the lighting engine is better than FM4 by miles, but it’s still lacking a lot. If Turn 10 does something about the lighting in FM6, the pay off would be tremendous, and that is without updating any car models or tracks.
^^ I agree. Models and textures are really good, but lighting and over saturation of colors could still see improvement. But like so, so many others have said, gameplay and content (amount) are what really needs focused on. Refine what ya got, and add what you don’t.
Big agreement.
Tbh. I think, or hope, that this is what Turn10 were working towards to for years now.
Stuff like Forzavista or scanning tracks is what made them future-proof. From a modelling point of view they already have almost everything they need for years to come. Of course new games will require some tweaks, but the base is set.
Now they will likely focus on the technical side, like lighting improvements. One can hope that with some wizardry they will manage to handle dynamic lighting without sacrificing detail, which would finally give us variable daytimes.
That aside, I only hope for better anti aliasing, I`d gladly trade the 1080p in for that.
I`d like to add … even with the somewhat outdated tech imo Forza5 still looks incredible.
I have both Assetto and PCars on my PC, and while they have some more advanced systems in place, I still prefer Forza visually. Kudos to Turn10s Designers.
Couldn’t agree more. Graphics are for me the third most important element. It has to be gameplay, content, graphics in that order. I always think back to the early ID games. Pixels the size of your head and perhaps a couple of dozen textures in primitive PAK files but they nailed the gameplay.
The realistic biggest PLUS of FM 6 doesnt belong to graphics, gameplay or content imo, there is ONE thing T10 could please 99% of all forzanatics:
Bringing back sharing, gifting and auctions… This would give back the feeling of community and nobody would care about P-Cars…
I have to say I liked 2 and 4 about equally, I miss the diffusers, exhaust, and general gameplay of 2, and the massive amount of content and game modes that 4 brought to the table. If they could blend the content of 4 with the sim focus of 2 with the graphics of 5, you would have a beastly game on your hands (and a really long run-on sentence). Just shows that the pieces are there. They just need to be melded into one cohesive experience.
My personal favourite to date is 4. It was for me the most complete game and the one I kept going back to. In terms of sim you could make it as race focused as you wanted to.
3 for me. That Ultimate Collection was better than butter on my bread. Also, Porsche.
If we get more RUF I’ll be happy, but honestly - that 918 hasn’t turned up in a solid racer yet. It saddens me that licensing limits so many games’ potential.
My favourite game of the franchise was forza 5. I know that it is most people’s least favourite installment but the reason I like it the most is the realism and the physics of the cars. There miles above forza 4 in my opinion. I have the thrustmaster txt and the playseat evolution and I swear when I play forza 5 it’s almost like driving a car. Sure the physics could be improved but they are awesome already and I hope they don’t tweet the physics too much for forza 6. A lot of things sucked in forza 5 like the lack of cars, no auction house, not being able to sell your cars ( I mean really what dope from turn 10 came up with that one ), not being able to gift cars, not enough tracks, I could go on and on but for the real DRIVING experience forza 5 was the best. If they have more content like forza 4, better graphics than forza 5, and better simulation ( like more tyre wear ), then forza 6 would be the best racing game on the market. I’ve played every forza game since forza 2 and every time they almost made the perfect game, but have just missed out. Maybe forza 6 is that perfect game that the fans have been waiting for, it’s about time now. Everything is in front of turn 10, they just need to put it together.
I just was on twitter and saw insiders talking about FM6 and they said it was getting “HOT” , which i been getting feels about FM6, VERY great feels about FM6. This game is gonna own i mean seriously.
Whats up with your signature?
Speaking as a painter of cars (which has not entered the discussion yet in this thread), there are many improvements that can be made to the paint shop. I know that designing and painting cars doesn’t appeal to everyone … but there’s quite a few of us out here who would like to see some improvements in the painting & vinyl application arena.
Let’s be realistic here. We’ll all get two to three months of decent gameplay. FM5 accomplished that so six to seven months you’d think would be probable this time around baring an FM3esque awd everything fiasco.
Best case scenario: almost everyone becomes addicted and the long time fans stay back. When the forza drama and betrayal ramps up and holds steady for a long while, you know the game is golden!
FM6 will be a amazing, now that they have rendered the all new 1971 Porsche 911T 277 by Magnus walker.
this has not been confirmed as in FM6 tho
its best to follow the advice from the flashing text that sometimes randomly shows up on the minecraft start screen “always assume a rumor is false”
because look right here
link
its the Magnus walker 277 recreated in Forza 4 by a player, ever think he mentioned that to the person who wrote that article in EVO magizine & they just ran with it thinking Forza 6 & not Forza 4 or that it was player recreated & not Turn 10.
Well, one 911 should be enough even if it is 44 years old.
I’m ok with just the one Porsche, I love the (early)70’s 911’s for some reason. Lol. But seriously this is good news! Feel free to throw in the '73 917-30!
As a LONG time FM fan, I have to say, the uber graphics is IRRELEVANT!!
Active weather is VERY relevant! …Active daylight is VERY relevant! …REALISTIIC upgrades are VERY relevant! …EXTENSIVE REGIONAL tracklists are VERY relevant! …AND …CARS! PLENTY of REGIONAL cars!
IF we had EVERYTHING from the Forza Motorsport franchise in FM6 AT LAUNCH …then we’d have something worth buying! Add the above features AND all new ORIGINAL seasonal/quarterly DLC, indefinately, until the end of this generation console, what IP could EVER compete?
How realistic is that? DEFINATELY do-able! Comments?
