Hello @Eire1984 . T10 Chupacaubrey is the official community manager at T10 studio and also, T10 Chupacaubrey posts at reddit. [And maybe reddit only.]
This is a real account from an employee working for T10.

I’ve done a deeper look into this I can confirm that the user is indeed the community manager T10_Chupacaubrey and I can also confirm the post was made 6 days ago.

When posting please link to the comment so it can be verified to avoid such confusion in the future. Citing sources separates the rumour from the fact.

The ultimate FOMO is losing all access to your save and race features when this game’s servers inevitably get shut down.

Forza Motorsport DOES NOT store your data locally. Rather, Turn 10 has set it up in a way that YOU LOSE EVERYTHING when servers are “sunset.”

@PerpetualHernia @Eire1984 @Pooya995016 @bunnie_xo @JohnDoe9302 @TheFibrewire @Speedster996 @Jezza14 @holden4ever @Razhuul

I can still start up Forza Horizon 3 and my savegames are still available if I want to. They ended the official support for it and stopped selling the game, but I can still play it if I want to. It will probably be the same with FM23.

I’m the same I can load up Motorsport 5 let’s say and all my saved items and cars are there. Same with Horizon 1-4 all my saves are there too.

Forza Horizon 3 and previous Forza Motorsport entries are different because they store your save data locally (i.e., on your computer).

Forza Motorsport DOES NOT save your data locally, but on the Forza Motorsport servers ONLY. For example, try loading your Forza Motorsport (2023) save when your internet is disconnected (spoiler alert: it won’t work, unlike every other Forza game ever released). This is not mere conjecture either, rather, turn10 has explicitly confirmed NO LOCAL SAVE DATA for FM. Thus, once the online servers shut down for Forza Motorsport (as they have for other Forza games), you will no longer be able to access your save data.

Thus, this will be the first Forza title where YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING when support ends, including ALL progression.

@JohnDoe9302 @Eire1984

If they shut down the servers in like 15 years or something, I honestly don’t care. Like I would play such an old game then again.

How long did it take them to shut down the servers for other Forza titles?

Now consider the fact Forza Motorsport (2023) has garnered only a fraction of the players that other Motorsport entries had. It is likely that the servers for this won’t last as long. Then you lose everything. If you jump for joy on hearing that, I don’t really know what to tell you.

This is what a quick search about FM23 showed me.

It’s in the Xbox cloud not on a T10 server or something. So the support will remain until MICROSOFT shuts down the servers of Xbox Cloud and why would THEY EVER DO THAT?
And even if they do, why would I care about that? At that point I already moved on to another game that is for sure.

That AI-generated information you shared is verifiably false. Forza Motorsport save data is stored ONLY on Turn10 servers.

“Player save data for Forza Motorsport is stored securely on our online servers.”

Again, prepare to lose all your save data, including all progression when this game’s servers shut down.

That will never happen, that would mean they would shut down Xbox cloud service. That would be like shutting down Playstation Network, Steam and such. It simply won’t happen.

With “Player save data for Forza Motorsport is stored securely on our online servers.” they PROBABLY mean the Xbox cloud, not some T10 servers. And if not so be it, I won’t play that game anymore in a few years. Games get outdated and then ppl move on.

And I tell you what it’s the same in other games too, you would also not be able to play WoW, GTAO, RDO, Division, FO76 etc. because it also is GaaS that is how these games are made. And you knew it before you bought the game.

No idea why you think it’s so important to be able to play very very very outdated games.

You know you only bought the license to play the game, you don’t own the game. That is how it is legally spoken. So just get over it.

Anyway I am done here, have a good day/night whatever your timezone is. I won’t reply again.

This is verifiably false, players’ Forza Motorsport save data is not stored on Xbox cloud servers, but instead lives on Turn10 servers (see my previous reply). If you are apathetic towards this issue and prepared to lose your save data, great. I appreciate your interest in this issue and mean this in the friendliest way, but what I don’t understand are those who have an appetite to undermine those who seek to preserve games along with their save data, including that of our beloved Forza Motorsport.

Also, for those joining the conversation now, please see my earlier comment which clarifies the issue we are discussing:

Why you not just ask Turn10 directly if they save it on their own servers or in the Xbox cloud? I am pretty sure they will never remove the forced “Always Online”. But if you ask them where it’s saved and it’s in the Xbox cloud then your savegame will be save. Because they will never shut down the Xbox cloud.

Begging them to make it possible to save on your local device won’t do anyhting believe me.

Just create a thread here somewhere or ask the support with an email.

Don’t know where you’re getting your info from but all game saves are backed up to the Microsoft cloud service. T10 don’t manage the game saves they only manage the game. The saves are saved to a different system and managed by Microsoft. Just like if I were to load up GTA 3 the OG non DE edition my saves come from the Microsoft Cloud and not from Rockstar Games/Take 2.

Mehh… doesn’t bother me. I hardly play the game now.

I’m not so convinced, having seen no source backing this up. However, assuming this is true, what prevents Turn10 from shutting down their own game save server they effectively rent from Microsoft when they shut down the rest of Forza Motorsport’s servers? Why would Turn10 go this route instead of saving games to Xbox Cloud?

Are you starting to see the writing on the wall?

The fact I can load up any of the older Forza games I own I can start where I left off. I don’t have Horizon 1-3 saved locally and I can load it up like as if I’ve played it yesterday. Same with the older Motorsport titles I own. They too aren’t stored locally. If you have owned any of the older titles and have saves for them you can do it too. Now I’m on the Series X and even my saves from the 360 get synched over when I load up Horizon 1 and 2 for that system. Don’t know how it is on PC.

Older Forza games (including previous Forza Motorsport entries) are different because they store your save data locally (i.e., on your computer), and on the Xbox Cloud.

We will see if it does. But for now I’m having a good time in Forza Motorsport 2023.
